4.1 Bottle from Food Mart 2400 in Austin, TX. Dusty old bottle... def a gusher. Aroma is balsamic, faint brined olives, stewed raspberries, wood / leather, maybe some tobacco. Taste is tart, herbal, earthy malt, balsamic, smooths out on the finish and then goes slightly bitter. Pretty complex overall.
4.0 Hazy brownish. Aroma is red wine balsamico berries and good caramel. Taste is sweet balsamico with some fresh berries. Very hidden abv. Very drinkable. Amazing.
3.9 Bottle with a big Sigma on the front, surprise surprise. Dark brown, nice fine-bubbled but small head. High carbonation as it was a bit of a fountain. Butterscotch caramel aroma, smells complex. Sweet-and-sour on the tongue, a bit of light roast plus some umami notes. Very complex with a whole plotline of flavors one after the other. With dried hop flowers, very inventive ingredient use! ;-)
3.8 Bottle, gusher. Dark brown, tan creamed head. Chewy fruit bread nose, chocolate an licorice, medium light foamy body, fruity, tart, wood and herb notes, berry, some pine, light flowery retronasal.coffee aftertaste.
3.3 Aroma; dark fruits, mocca, plum, berries, yeast. Look; beige head on mahogany body. Taste; dark fruits, mocca, plum, prune, berries, yeast, farm, tart, and leading to a fruity sour finish. Feel; solid body n ok co². Overall; nice.
3.8 33cl bottle. Pitch black color with a darkbrown shine and a firm beige head. Malty nose, slightly roasted, some hints of coffee? Full body and flavor, sweet malty at first evolving into a gentle but refreshing sourness with fresh green apples, ending in a dry finish with some notes of roasted coffee. Flavorful dark sour!
3.5 [Bottle (330ml) at Pharmacy] Pours a very dark brown with an average size semi-lasting bubbly white head and some lacing. Mild aroma of chocolate, Belgian yeast and lightly roasted malt. Lightly tart flavour with toasted malt, chocolate and Belgian yeast. Average bodied. Pretty good.
3.7 33cl Bottle @ Mikkeller Webshop, Copenhagen, Denmark. Brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, red fruits. Taste is malt, sweet, berries, hints of chocolate. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.8 A smooth clean tart sourness while remaining true to balance, the color gives just a mild roasty ale character to add to the uniqueness. Online Etre bier
3.0 Maltiness and citrus in the scent. Sour taste of dark berries. Sour aftertaste that fills the front of the mouth for a long time. Good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.3 $5.29 bottle, WW. Pours brown with a small beige to tan head. Sweet caramel, floral, sour fruit aroma. Flavor is tart cherry, caramel, raisin, date, light earth.
3.8 Copenhagen 30/6 2019. 33 cl bottle from Mikkeller Web-shop. Brown and yellow label bringing reminiscences of the Seventies. Pours dark brown with a red hue and a small off-white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing. Aroma is not extremely sour but has a sweetish malt base. Some caramel and malty sweetness. An acidic sourness of unripe berries is lurking right behind. Finely balanced. Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily texture. Flavor is dry, sour and vinous. Light but distinct sweetness followed by a strong sourness. Aftertaste is sour but with a notable sweet lingering undercurrent. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry. Interesting Sour Ale maintaining a good balance between a modest but distinct sweetness and a potent sourness.
4.0 Dark sour sweet ale. Tastes like charcoil, red darkfruits, bitterness of dark chocolate. Very sharp and a lot of Taste Not a lot of foam but Nice long aftertaste.
4.3 Couleur brune foncée. Mousse beige légère et peu véloce. Nez vineux, boisé et un peu torréfié. Top.
3.0 Wygląd: rubinowo-czerwone, przejrzyste, prawie bez piany Aromat: drewno, suszone grzyby leśne, Smak: mocno wytrawne, kwaśne i to dość mocno, kwas mlekowy, cierpkie – taninowe. wysycenie niskie.
3.8 Bottle at a friend's, gusher. Pours deep brown, nose is funk, Brett, little dates, taste is funky, oak, caramel, dark fruit, sweet.
2.2 hazy dark brown colour, no head at all (only some minimal lacing, which disappears fully within a minute); aroma of acetic acid, lemon, some acetone and hints of fruitiness; taste is completely dominated by acetic acid - it is disturbingly intensive...if it was a bit less intensive, those sour cherry and woody-tannin notes which are currently almost fully covered by sourness could be enjoyed, too...unfortunately it is not the case and besides the acetic acid, only some citric acid and acetone can be felt...too much for me, definitely
Cuerpo medio correcta densidad suave, fina en boca poco gasificación. Buena.
3.6 Bottle from Wittich. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is funky, barrel, metallic, rust, roses, chocolate, steel pan. Body is heavy and strongly sour, quite sweet, lots of roasted malts, fizzy carbonation, acidic and burnt all at the same time, still chocolate and fig and dried dark fruit. A potpourri of impressions. Lingering sweet and sour palate. Quite a heavy one, not for the fainthearted. Unfortunately there is no convergence, feels a bit all over the place. Still, a good beer.
2.8 Lots of aroma and taste but mouthfeel is the defining quality of this one. very fine carbonation that last a long time. high acidity contrasted by major sweetness. the combo always reminds me of sweet chilli sauces and other OTT asiany concoctions. you have to be in the mood. not dry!
Medium volmondig, Matige koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: zoetzuur, fruitig, alcoholisch.
3.0 Virtual/Skype tasting with Nordcore! Appearance: Dark brown, hint of red, just maybe. Bottle over-flowed when opening. Fizzy, light tan head. Aroma: Prunes, dark fruits, some tartness. Taste: Over-ripe dark fruits, prunes, slight sourness. Not too bad. Bought: Wittich, 330 ml, CHF 2.80 Info: 16/6-2018, BB: 31/3-2019
3.6 Bottle 33 cl. Deep red, clear with minimal light brown head. Aroma of prunes and other berries. Sour taste and some sweetness.
3.9 Draught at Ales tales in London. Funky-malty and plummy nose, starts rich and smooth then turns dry-sour with a sour red fruit edge. Sort of like a Dubbel-Saison hybrid.
3.6 Jan 2015 Cap date; Sampled July 2016 A very soft pour into my large goblet produces a fat, three-finger thick head, amber tinged, dark tan colored head. The beer is dark brown color that shows a deep, concentrated red-amber hue when held up to the light; and also shows a ton of carbonation. The aroma smells like a woody, earthy mushroom at my first take. It picks up fruit notes of tart raisins, a bit of prunes, as well as woody, herbal, almost toasted oak like notes. There is a soft sourness to the nose, and this brings out a citrus character, perhaps. Light oxidation adds some touches of toasted nut aromatics, and there is an almost brandy like warmth to this, though I wouldn't say it is alcohol driven. Light bodied, and foamy as it first hits my tongue; there is lots of excess carbonation here, and the beer is fairly sour. The finish is a mix of sourness, and dusty, brown / toasted grain husks, and a lingering, though light, woody note. There is a sort of root like, herbal, almost cola or root-beer like flavor to the finish at times that adds an interesting spiciness. The beer is very dry, with no residual sweetness. An interesting beer, I am not sure how old it is, but I have had it for a couple years and it has held up well.
3.7 Dark and sour, but thinner than I expected. Fruity flavors that are sweet and tart. Texture is bubbly, but not quite like that champagne feel. 10% alcohol hidden well. Aroma and flavor has some yeast. Sediment buildup towards the end. Good beer but not really my style.
