Amager Fru Frederiksen

Amager Fru Frederiksen

English: It is said that behind every great man is an equally great - and above all - wise woman.

Now this can also be said of the beer world. Perhaps our most famous beer, Hr. (Mr.) Frederiksen is a powerful dude, who enjoys nothing more than to stand and admire his own muscles. Fru (Mrs.) Frederiksen however is a wise woman who knows perfectly well that it is possible to achieve almost as much without using anywhere near as much force.

This Lady is just as powerful but is somewhat toned down compared to the Lord. Slightly sweeter and less smokey although with plenty of black malt, chocolate malt and roasted barley she is no complete sissy - the US Centennial hops with its 60+ IBUs reminds you of this fact.

Bid the mistress welcome - she is here to stay.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, hops and yeast

3.9 Świetny FES, wyraźna kawa, czekolada i praliny, uzupełniona leśnymi, chmielowymi akcentami. Ładna piana, kremowa tekstura i wyraźna, acz nie męcząca kawa powodują, że to piwo bardzo dobrze się pije. Nisko wysycone, dobra rzecz.
3.9 Black with off white head - Some roasted malt in the aroma - Malt body with chocolate flavours and some bitterness from roasted malt and hops - The roasted malt and chocolate flavours goes into the finish - This was good
3.8 Tap @ basement beer bar Aalborg. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and light hoppy. Black colour with tan head, mostly diminishing. Taste is light+ sweet and moderate malt bitter. Medium+ body, oily feel and light malt bitter finish.
3.4 Solid, classic stout. Roasted barley, chocolate, good amounts of hoppyness to boot.
3.8 Black hue under a thin light beige head that gives off a roasty and chocolaty aroma, with a mild earthy sweetness. Smooth and slightly sweet and earthy smokiness, bittersweet dark cocoa, and stoutly flavors meld in a nice harmony that although tasty, colors inside the classical lines a bit much. A touch of American bitterness.
3.5 Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with small beige head. Aroma is nice dark malt, medium body, lower carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, dark malt, some ash, and some herbal slightly bitter hops.

3.7 Tap. Pours black with beige lasting head. Aroma is roasted malt and dark dried fruits. The taste is the same but includes some coffee and some chocolate but not so much dried dark fruits.
3.9 bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Rich aroma of malt and chocolate. Nearly opaque black color, brown head that slowly drops to a full cover, lots of lace streamers. Taste is rich creamy roasted malt that adds medium fizz on a swallow that also introduces dark chocolate and black coffee. The coffee becomes an effective bittering agent. So much flavor, but so smooth and easy to quaff. A solid stout.
4.0 Tap@Fermentoren, Copenhagen - pours black with a good sized firm tan head. Medium dark roasted and toasty malty, rich with notes of chocolate, caramel, light coffee, a nice sweetness coming into balance with the bitterness of the hoppy backing in support, smooth and creamy on the palate, a lovely stout.
3.8 500 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear black brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate notes, dried fruit including plum, raisin, balance to the malts......taste is lightly sweet with dried fruit notes, hints of toffee/caramel, roasted malts with chocolate, light coffee, finishing with a moderate hop bitterness, balance to the malts......mouth feel, medium body, light alcohol, moderate carbonation making a creamy mouthful. This is lovely, rich, but gentle Stout. The malts are dominant, but hops too are present, making for a nicely balanced beer, which approaches the Baltic Porter, Imperial Stout styles. BJCP 9/3/15/4/7

Nice balanced flavor with chocolate, coffee, toffee and some roast. [On tap at Crowbar in Oslo, Norway]

3.3 Bottle shared by Tmoney99 (thanks) at Cincinnati RateBeer tasting on September 26, 2015. Very dark brown hue, very good roasted malt aroma, sweet syrupy flavor. Not my favorite stout but not bad.
3.7 Bottle from Kwicker Liquor via Moose and enjoyed in the Hilton Bonnet Creek suite living room after a long day of Mickey's Christmas Party. Dark brown pour with a nice tan head that lasts and thick lacing. Aroma: menthol, tart fruit, dark fruit and chocolate. Flavor: dark, dusty, baking cocoa with some tartness and lingering bitterness with a hint of booze; does this also have a hint of salt? Busy but good.
3.7 Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a murky brown color with a smaller sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have chocolate, caramel, nutty character, light roast, some bitterness that lasts through the finish, a nice compliment to Hr. Frederiksen. Pretty straight forward roasty, stout that is easy to drink.
3.8 500 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 - thanks again, Tom! Pours a brown color with amber highlights and edges and a small beige head that laces the glass and settles into a ring and bit of film. Notes of oasted malts, chocolate, black olive, fudge, earth, and caramel. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sweet, toasty mouthfeel. Not terribly complex or memorable, but just a solid, well-made stout.

3.6 @ phaleslu’s cinci tasting. 500ml bottle, thanks to tmoney99. Nice heavier roast malt, bit of dark chocolate, some coffee. Hazy dark brown color. Ring of off-white/grey head, some bits of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Dry finish. Very mild bit of chewiness, but some. Nice long roasty stout aftertaste, with a bit of dark fruit. Moderate bitter taste, very light sweet. More dry. Touch of smoke. Solid, tasty stout, very flavorful for the ABV, nice long aftertaste on this.
3.6 Bottle. Pitch black, creamy, beige head. Aroma of chocolatr, coffee, fruits, mollases. In taste semi sweet with lots of dark chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied, medium bitterness. Oily texture. Very nice.
3.5 7/03/2015: Amager Fru Frederiksen... Very much like Amager Hr. Frederiksen with bitter dark chocolate, hints of black plum, mineral-like molasses, roasted malt, undertones of coffee, nutty, but a bit less intense and definitely less alcoholic. I think this one has more of the mineral characteristic coming through. Good, not great. Seems highly over-rated? 500 mL bottle from Party Source.
3.7 Dark oil black pour. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is coffee, chocolate heavy. A bit creamy and thinner. Overall very good stout.
