Amager IPA

Amager IPA

English: Forget about India Pale Ale being an English beer, which should be robust enough to withstand the long sea voyage from England to India. Our version of an IPA is totally inspired by the new interpretations, especially those found on the U.S. west coast. A solid malt base, combined with Simcoe, Amarillo and Cascade hops and then just dry hopped enough to ensure that the hop burn is thorough. It is fruity and fresh, it’s bitter like hell and it is strong enough to give you a little kick if you drink a couple of bottles or three. This is how we make a great IPA at Amager. We don’t have a single doubt that you will enjoy our IPA , because it is a damn good beer. Cheers!

3.5 50cl bottle, served in Irish pint. Pours amber with medium off-white head. Aroma is caramel, herbs ripe fruits and citrus. Taste is more or less the same...lots of earthy notes added. Quite dry and lingering bitterness on the palate. Medium body, good carbonation. Nice IPA.
3.9 Poured from bottle, dark amber with medium off white head. Strong aroma with notes of caramel, tropical fruit, marmalade and pine. Taste is massively bitter, well balanced with a nice malt body and a long bitter finish.
4.1 500ml bottle from Systembolaget. Almost clear amber, big creamy tanned head, rich lacing. Big, hoppy bitter-sweet aroma fruity, sweet with pine, grapefruit, caramel, toffee. Mild carbonated, full-bodied sticky and smooth mouthfeel. The taste fills the mouth with sweet and bitter flavors. Toffee, caramel, sticky dark dried fruit, sweet peach meets grapefruit, pine, resin, green hops and leather. Big and heavey!
2.4 Pretty hazy amber body, lasting off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel, dough, pine. Taste is caramel, then a medium herbal bitterness. Some booze detectable, little bit of resin too. Bitter aftertaste that kind of tastes like too strongly brewed black tea. Just not good. Quite thin body. "We don?t have a single doubt that you will enjoy our IPA , because it is a damn good beer." No, no it’s not; and ist?s horribly overpriced at that.
3.3 Bottle. Amber, hazy, average to large and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel with light bread and light tropical fruitiness, some piney - citrus hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, some caramel and light bread with tropical fruitiness, piney - some citrus hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light - some caramel and faint fruitiness, lots of piney - some citrus hoppyness, light alcohol. IPA with caramel and notes of bread - in the finish bitterness gets bit sharp and soapy. There are better IPAs from Amager. Nice head though.
3.7 Flaska.
3.0 Malty yeasty aroma bit of citrus and zest. Love that rock solid foam. Very bitter that overwhelms very fast. Didn’t get that malty part. Slightly disappointing naked body with not much else.
3.8 Dark amber to brown colored, hazy, medium to strong lasting off white head, nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, some biscuit and toffee notes, fruity, floral and piney hops. Taste is moderate sweet malt, caramel, biscuit, toffee, citrus, tropical fruity, strong floral and pine hops, medium+ bitterness. Dry finish and bitter lasting after. Medium to full bodied and moderate carbonation. Nice. (0,5l bottle at Beerightback, Nova Gorica, SLO)
3.6 Bottle. Rich amber, reddish hue. Pined nose, malty, slight soft bready caramels, a little bit of green citrus on nose. Med bodied, sturdy robust bitters, malts, caramels. A really punchy piney ipa thats focused on the bitters and body without the all-too-common aromatic hop shenanigans. Clean, nice. -- bb
3.8 Perfekcyjna IPA z kategorii "słodszych". Mocna, słodowa podbudowa, gęsta żywiczno-iglakowa treść i świetna, bardzo mocna i jeszcze krótsza cytrusowa goryczka. Po prostu wyznacznik stylu.
3.1 In bottiglia. Colore ambrato quasi ramato, torbida. Finale secco e balsamico.
3.4 500 ml bottle Clear ruby red to amber colored beer with beige frothy head leaving lacing. Aroma has caramel malts, resin, wood and nuts. Also light orange kind of fruitiness. Flavor has grapefruit and caramel. Palate is quite thick with heavy carbonation and some bitterness. Finish has milder than medium but long bitterness. Aftertaste has caramel, grapefruit and resin. Also light orange peel here. Too much like an amber ale, disappointing for me. Has the old IPA sticky caramel taste even though it’s only 2 months old.
3.6 Bottle. Teku glass. Deep amber with light brown, semi-densed, medium head. Poor head retention, medicore head lacing. Medium malty aroma - mainly caramel, light to medium piney, grassy and floral aroma. Taste is medium to high bitter from the whole of degustation. Pretty balanced with malty backbone. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation, finish is long, dry and bitter. In overall pretty balanced IPA, mainly based on caramel malts, which is to so goog imho.
3.1 Moderate foam. Pleasant floral aroma. Slightly malty mellow IPA tastes welcoming of flowers. Hop bitterness is tasty and sufficiently aggressive to type. Lovely long mellow aftertaste and a little dryness. Good experience of an IPA which certainly meets its type correctness.
3.6 On tap.
3.5 On tap @ Six Roses, Lille - FR. Color: clear amber beer with small carbonation and medium white foam. Smell: grassy and resin, small fruity finish. Taste: nice hoppy with dry sensation, resin, well balanced with malt. Good beer easy drinkable. Aftertaste: resin and dry sensation.
3.8 At the Koper beer festival. Pours a bit darker amber color, fairly hazy, topped with a medium sized tan colored head. Pleasant fruity aroma, tropical fruits. Taste is characterized by a decent hoppy bitterness. Nicely drinkable and very enjoyable.
W smaku słodkie, karmelowe, zaraz potem goryczka, a później sosnowo rodzynkowe chmieleowe smaki. Wysycenie średnie, pełne, gładko wchodzące. Goryczka średnia w stronę wysokiej z tropikalno sosnowym finiszem.
3.6 Keg at The Cellar, Chester. A hazy deep amber colour with a fizzy off white head. Aroma of passion fruit, orange, mango, grapefruit, pine, a little brown sugar and grassy hops. Taste of dry grapefruit, orange marmalade, mango, resin, brown sugar and caramel. Full bodied and moderate carbonation. A long, dry, resinous finish. A decent IPA, but didn’t promise on the mass of bitterness.
3.6 From Craftissimo. Cloudy dark amber-brown with huge fluffy pillowy tan head. Smells of malt, toffee/butterscotch, musty grass jelly, produce aisle, resin. Taste begins as musty herbal malt, then becomes hugely resinous. Quite malty for an IPA, though also extremely resinous. Like other Amager beers, this is quite musty and very big. Unexpected direction but interesting.
3.6 Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Two trips to Craftissimo day. Unexpectedly dark pour - dark hazy copper brown with some orange tint. Thick foamy head. Aroma is very malty - almost chocolate - with lots of resin hops. Taste is super malty at first, followed by piney resin hops. Nice bitterness, and very focused in flavor profile - pine! - but a bit too malty to me for an IPA (vs maybe a DIPA with more booziness and hops to balance). Nice though.
3.3 Bottle from Systembolaget, Sweden. Big bubbly light brown head. Brown - amber colr. Balanced caramell and piny hop aroma. Intence hop taste with a big bitter bite that lasts. Medium body. A sipping beer.
3.8 (tap 28/03-2015) medium creamy beige head, unclear dark brown color, hoppy aroma, dry hoppy taste, soft co2, full body, smooth, easy drinkable.
3.6 Draught @ Wildeman, Amsterdam. Clear red chestnut, beautiful full fine white head. Pine cone nose. Roasted almonds, cedar, dry, fresh and bitter. Nice one.
3.5 Poured dark reddish brown with a dense tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet citrus and soft malt. Medium body, flavour is medium sweet, lightly bitter.
3.8 33cl @ tap. Ipa danese ottenuta mischiando 3 luppoli.
3.6 Deep hazy bronze color, creamy beige head. Resin nose, grapefruit, caramel, lemon, peach, fruity notes. Resin taste, grapefruit, heavy bitterness, caramel, malty. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture.
3.7 50 cl. bottle poured in to a Snifter. Batch # 955. Hazy, amber colour with a thin, off-white head. Fruity aroma with caramel malts, pines, citrus, peaches and floral hops. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Suits the beer and style. Long lasting dry and bitter finish with citrus fruits, caramel malts and grasses. A true classic from Amager.
