Amager / Lervig Brown Boobies Falling

Amager / Lervig Brown Boobies Falling

English: It is said that that the first Europeans to experience the impact of a falling coconut were a group of Portuguese sailors. Under the command of Duarte Barbosa, captain of the Victoria on a voyage more than 500 years ago, a landing party was sent to investigate a small coral island in what is thought to be the present day Maldives. The crewmen however got utterly lost on the Island and decided to rest under an unknown palm tree. Sliding into an exhausted sleep they were quickly woken by what they first thought to be giant droppings from the infamous Brown Boobies, a giant seabird known to be a constant nuisance to sailors when out of a sudden they would fall from the sky in a Stuka-like attack fashion. Relieved they were, the poor sailors, when they realized they were under no booby attack, but simply the victims of falling coconuts. And ever since that day coconuts have been a very popular ingredient in foods as diverse as chocolate bars and Imperial Porters. Actually it’s on that very Maldive island the first Coconut Porter is said to have been brewed. And that dear friends is a true story.

3.8 Bottle 50 cl. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and some licorice and vanilla sense. Sweet taste with a good chocolate and some licorice end.
3.2 Pours dark brown, almost black, with a thick cappuccino head with lots bubbles. Aroma tells me there's something wrong: roasted malts, dark chocolate and something strange and artificial which is not coconut at all. Did it it fade? Fortunately in mouth feels better. Again, roasted malts, dark chocolate and something sweet like milk, even if lactose is not listed in ingredients. I can feel something salty too, like soy sauce. Nice light bitter finish and roasted aftertaste. Not bad at all. Medium low carbonation, medium-full body and pleasant silky texture. Very drinkable. Not a bad sweet stout or imperial porter afterall, but I totally missed the coconut in this.
3.6 0.33 l bottle shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran during a tasting session in the summer of 2017. Thanks! Purchased at Hoppiness Beer Shop, Koper, Slovenia. Dark brown to black, small tan head. Coffee, roasty, nutty, leather, dark malts, dark fruits, brown bread. Sweet, some coconut, dry and roasty finish. Medium body, sticky, moderate carbonation, medium finish. Although not very strong, this really feels like an imperial porter. Good job!
3.5 50cl Bottle from Sterk. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of toasted coconut, tonka beans, liquorice, roasted malts, some mocha. Flavour follows, medium sweet, quite some burnt malt bitterness, roast, mocha, tonka beans, dark chocolate, liquorice, toasted coconut, bittersweet finish. Medium to full bodied. Nice, but a bit cloying.
3.4 bottle. pitch dark, small bubbly brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and coconut. Flavor of roasted malts and even more coconut. Malts and coconut combine and make a flavor that resembles those licorice flat squares with two whites and a licorice part in the middel. I don't like those. Nothing wrong with the beer, is great, but it's too candy-like for me. Even though it is in fact not very sweet at all. Never liked sweet coconut, and this is too much in that directon for me. I'll probably rate this way lover than average.
3.6 Botella, @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo 29/10/2017 BBD: 01/04/18 Color negro espuma blanca, aromas tostados notas a coco, sabor malta dulce con notas a coco y cacao final cafe, cuerpo medio.
3.6 Bottled 500ml. -from Beergium. Almost black coloured, medium sized brown head, mild coconut in the nose. Light roasted malt, chocolate, coconut, mild spicy and traces of vanilla and alcohol with roasty finish. Pleasant one.
3.8 Copenhagen 14/10 2017. 50 cl bottle from Meny. Some strange bird wielding coconuts charging what I suppose is some poor Portuguese sailors. Kind of cumbersome way to convey that you added Coconut to your Porter. But it works. Pours opaque black with small beige head. Settles as thin layer of foam accurately covering the surface of the beer. Aroma is intense and rich. Dark chocolate, strong bitter licorice, roastiness and hints of vanilla. Light carbonation and very thick and oily palate. Flavor lives up to the aroma. Fat and rich. Medium sweet with slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with vanilla - and some Coconut. Good one.
3.8 Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen (06/08/2017) - pours black with a tan head. Roasted and sweet malty with opulent chocolate, caramel and toffee sweetness, hoppy backing, coffee prevalence, vanilla and coconut coalesce into the finish.
3.6 Medium head black pour soft carbonation aromas coconut chocolate caramel cocoa the flavours cocoa dried fruit chocolate cinnamon ash coconut bitter taste dry note at the aftertaste little disappointing
4.0 KØLF 050517. Black color with a tan head. Aroma is cocos, roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is cocos, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, licorice, caramel. Full body. Nice beer.
4.0 Aroma: 7 Medium aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Appearance: 5 Opaque black beer with a slight brown head. Taste/Palate: 8/4 Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, vanilla, coconut and chocolate; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee. Overall: 16 This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Not a lot of coconut, but that might be because this beer is very roasted. Perfect appearance and a great palate as well, but the aroma coule have been stronger.
3.5 Bouteille 50cl.
3.7 On tap at Taproom, CPH. Black with a small head. Sweetish with dark malt, chocolate, some hints of cocoa and coffee. The body was almost full. A pleasant one.
4.1 Bottle. Huge creamy beige head that really lasted. Excellent lacing. Pitch black. Aroma of smooth roasted malt, hint of coffee, liquorice, caramel, dried fruit and coconuts. Over the palate came hint of coffee, liquorice and a touch of smoke as well. Medium body. Moderated thick texture. Heavy sweet and bitter well balanced flavor. Lingering liquorice and coconute roasted malty finish. NICE BOYZZZ
3.8 Bottle. Dark, almost black. Aroma: roasted. Taste: bitter-sweetish, coffee, coconut. Full body.
3.9 Bottle@Artturi, Tampere, Finland. Somewhat dominating and slightly artificial coconut. Still, balanced and with slightly roasted malts, dark chocolate and some coffee. Medium body with low carbonation. Distinctive and high quality though too dominating coconut.
4.1 Pours black with a lasting tan head. Nose shows milk chocolate, coconut, choc chip cookies, caramel, choc fudge. Flavours include toasted coconut, toasty malt, chocolate and soft booze.
3.4 Ocena z notatek celem uzupełnienia profilu. Niezłe, choć spodziewałem się więcej.
3.6 Dark malt, coffee, soy and some alcohol in the smell. Coffee, dark malt, coconut and dark chocolate in flavor. Really good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth forever. Good and a special beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.7 Pours deep brown that looks black in the glass. A tan creamy head that settles quick. Aroma of coffee, espresso beans, dark chocolate, subtle toasted coconut and bittersweet dark malts. Taste is sweet and very milky-coffee forward. Brown sugar. The aftertaste is a little more bitter. Like a bitter coffee, chocolate sensation. Not much coconut — if any. A little dry on the tongue. Smooth mouthfeel, little carbonation, oily texture.
3.9 Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of creamy roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, soft cocos, licorice and caramel. Taste has sweet chocolate, creamy caramelised malt, cocos, coffee, soft licorice and a bittersweet finish. Very nice.
3.5 Bottle @ tasting shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes and Judyvv. Opaque black color, small white to off-white head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, light roast, a bit sweet in the distance, dark malt bitter. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Solid.
4.2 Bottle @ joes. Black colour with a medium sized offwhite head. Smells chocolate, sweet, roasty. Tastes coconut, roasty, chocolate, sweet. Nice. Full body, soft carbo.
3.8 7.5%ABV. Imperial Porter. Tapped out black 40SRM. Nose has stone fruit with light smoke. Mouthfeel is syrupy. Palate has ripe plums, fresh dates, muscovado sugar, gula melaka and a local coconut confection called dodol . More conventional palate tasting note: Hops are burnt twigs, coffee, burnt toast, camelizing coconut sugar. Finish is lingering bitter which is ether resin or bittermelon but with the hint of smoke that distorts and elevates the bitter Really good and makes sense. The grain bill is typically Amager. Lays down a good foundation for tasting all the sweet, preserved fruit and bitter woody, ashy flavors.
4.0 24/V/17 - 50cl bottle @ Erwin’s Zythology Class of 2015 Graduation Ponton Tasting - BB: XII/2019 (2017-630) Thanks to the class for sharing the beers tonight! Clear ruby purple to brown beer, creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit dirty, yeast, lots of coffee, roasted. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of coffee first, metallic, coconut indeed, caramel, some dark chocolate. Aftertaste: lots of coconut, caramel, nice roast, some coffee, hoppy bitter finish with a sweet malty touch to it. Very decent, and I don’t even like coffee.
