Amager / Malmö The Amazing Gotland Campfire Beer

Amager / Malmö The Amazing Gotland Campfire Beer

Ingredienser: Vand. Bygmalt: Pale, Gotland smoked, Crystal 150, Caramunich 2, Chocolate. Havremalt: Flaked Oats. Kaffebønner. Marshmallows. Fyrrenåle. Humle: Columbus. Gær. UK-ale.

English: If you take a casual stroll along the fair coastline of Gotland, you might wonder if there are any forests on the island at all. But make no mistake about it. Deep and dark, they are, and twisted – the pine forests of this storied isle. There are many legends of these woods, and one that is centuries old tells of a monster attracted to the smell of smoke from campfires. A friendly monster, but still… Many a camper has wet his pants upon discovering the Marshmallow Monster hovering over the dying embers trying to toast a perfect skewerful of sweets for his cocoa. We first heard tell of the Marshmallow Monster from our friends at Malmö Brygghus, so it was only natural to make our collaboration brew a homage to this kind Swedish creature. For we believe in the goodness of all men – and monsters.

3.8 Bottle, pours dark brown, almost black with some ruby reflexes. In aroma there is mainly smoked wood, with some notes of chocolate, coffee, raisins, marzipan and caramel. Smooth and well balanced with medium sweetness and roadty bitterness in finish. Flat carbonation and medium body. Well hidden alcohol. Smokiness is very strong but all in all it’s very good drinkable.
4.0 Fetter Schinkenkracher!!!
3.7 CBC2015, Pours black to brown with a nice head, aroma of wood, smoke, flavor of wood, chocolate, smoked vegetables, medium bodied
3.0 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.4 Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Aroma of smoked paprika chips. Some roast malts. Medium umami body, a bit salty, but mostly roasted bitterness. Shortish palate. A good and interesting experience, but there are better ones.
3.9 Bottle. Pours like a porter, very dark brown bordering on black. Tan head that recedes pretty quick. Big sweet smoke on the nose, obviously, with some bitter chocolate and mild vanilla. Taste; this is very good. Smokey, but with, yeah, a nice marshmallow-vanilla sort of sweetness, some dark chocolate backbone. Nice and dry, but full. Great smoked beer.
4.4 Bottle, 0.50l. Pours almost black color with medium creamy light brown head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of smoke, leather, roasted malt, coffee, herbs, spruce tips and hint of a sweat. Taste starts sour grassy with licorice and spruce tips syrup, follows by moderate sweet roasted malt, raw coffee with earthy notes, mouthfeel is smooth and moderate spicy, while finish is mild bitter and smoked. Medium to full body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Fantastic brew with few weird ingredients...
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours an almost opaque dark brown with a small tanned head. Sweet with a light dryness. Aromas of smoked malts and toasted caramel. Also notes of dried dark fruits with tiny hints of English licorice. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation Dry finish with more smoke.

3.2 500 ml bottle. BB 06/2018. Enjoyed at the Timo A’s place! Dark brown color with a small tan head. Tar, Tervaleijona, peat and some in the aroma. Smoke, tar and malt in the flavor. Tar, smoke and peat overdose.
3.6 Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with medium, semi-sensed, light brown head. Medicare head retention, poor lacing. Medium smoked (bacon-like) aromas, some nice malty profile - caramel-like along with dried, dark fruits. In the bacground some woody, meaty and iodine notes. Taste is quite surprising stag between semi-sweet and semi-dry, caramel and fruity. Medium body, thick texture, lively carbonation, finish is malty, mineral and meaty. In overall very nice smoked beer with lots of fruity notes.
3.4 Smoke. Almost arson. I like smoked as a style but this was a bit over the top. The nose is way better than the taste. It’s a peaty, salty taste. Smoked meat.
