Amager Rugporter

Amager Rugporter

English: Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too

3.9 Aroma: very chocolatey with a touch of rye; Appearance: pitch black with foamy tan head that dissipates quickly; Taste: follows nose with smooth, boozy kick; Palate: heavy body with long, boozy finish; Overall: quite good; would buy again.
4.0 Big light brown colored head with a dense brown body. Aromas of hops, mild dark chocolate, and lightly roasted malt. Nothing too special, just solid. Full, thick and lightly slick feel. Hints of tar in the finish. Very solid porter. 12/10
3.9 Black pour, 1 finger mocha head. Nose is coffee and rye. Bittersweet. Middle shows black malt, chocolate, licorice, sweet dark fruits. Finish is bittersweet and full bodied.
4.0 I love porters, I love rye, not too surprisingly I love this beer. Along with the usual porter notes this one features licorice, light smoke and of course rye spice.
4.1 500ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, average to huge, creamy, more than fairly lasting & lacing, ochre-ish beige head. Rich and complex, roasty dark malty aroma, notes of chocolate, leather, liquorice, a touch of vanilla, shoe polish, nuts. Taste is moderately bitter, roasty dark malty, minimally salty notes of liquorice, leather, a touch of vanilla, shoe polish, peat. Full body, thick, heavy, oily, viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, lasting, bitter and salty liquorice finish.
3.6 500ml bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a tan head. Rye, chocolate, roast, burnt, and a lighter coffee bitter finish.

3.8 Où, Quand, Comment : Bouteille, dégustée le 9/26/2013. Visuel : Couleur : brune très foncée. Apparence : quasi-opaque.
4.1 Noir d’encre, mousse beige assez foncée.
3.7 Bottle From Craft Beer Cellar. Aroma: roasted malt, smokey and ashes, a tad of bacon and something that I guess is rye. App: dark burgundy, minimal to no beige head. Taste and palate: full smooth and silky body, medium sweetness, medium dry bitter finish. Overall: a fine porter. Well I was expecting a bit more but as it gets warmer it gets easier to drink. Probably updated this rating 5 times. The lesson is drink warmer to cooler.
3.9 Tap - big tan colored foamy head, very dark brown almost black color, big roasty chocolate malty aroma and flavor, maybe some mild rye spiciness in there, good smooth finish, very good overall
3.6 Dense creamy beige head. Moderate aroma of coffee. chocolate and licorice. Soft, medium sweet malt flavor. Lightly roasted with a touch of salty licorice. Distinct, sharpish bitterness. Well-bodied. Oily in the mouth. Bitter coffee-ish ending.
3.7 On tap @EurHop (Rome). Pours deep brown/black with a big and quite persistent cappuccino head. Aroma is rich, chocolate, cappuccino, light vanilla and some bready notes. Flavour is medium to high sweet with a decent bitter end, a bit rough. Full body, medium carbonation. Rough porter, but ok.
3.7 Bottle as Rye Porter from Kwicker Liquor via Moose. Dark brown pour like Coke with a bubbly brown head. Big aroma of chocolate and dark malt. Wow, big flavor of molasses and dark sugar with a slight coffee hint. Pretty bold.
3.9 500ml bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa, as "Rye Porter". Cellar aged a couple of months. Black pour with a brown head leaving consistent spotty lacing. Nose is caramel, big molasses, light cocoa, some smoke and some roast. Taste is of sweet caramel, sticky molasses, cocoa, tangy rye and light smoke. Medium to full bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes fairly balanced between sweet and tangy grainy, and dry. Very nice, tasty brew. 14.7
3.8 Mooie zwarte kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt vol, vanille, crème, koffie. Smaakt koffie, vanille, beetje dun. Bitterzoete afdronk.
Ruikt koffie, geroosterd. Smaakt chocolade, koffie, geroosterd, smooth. Lekler zacht.
3.3 8.5% ABV. Imperial porter. This tapped out an intriguing turbid brown suspension which looked more like commercial mocha mix and my first though was "end of keg". It had no head and the nose was dense with darkly hardroasted malt. The palate was reminiscent of a freshly pulled hunk of black bread. Buried in this wonderful rye-filled, yeasty musk were dark stewed fruits like prunes and dates. Interesting floury mouthfeel. Nice bitter hop finish. I guess this goes on my "once in a lifetime" list.
4.0 Deep darkest brown pour with small ruby highlights and fizzy beige head. Sweet aromas of treacle and licorice, with a little port wine, vanilla, leather and alcohol. Lots of dark chocolate in the taste, licorice, treacle, coffee, with light vinous notes too. Bitter and spicy hop/rye mid-palate, dry and roasty finish. Light-med bodied and smooth as silk. Excellent.
4.2 Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. An inky black beer pours with a thin tan head. It has a very rich liquorice and chocolate flavour, orange marmalade and vanilla notes followed by creamy vanilla and blackcurrant on the finish. Excellent!
4.5 On tap (for a short time I presume) at Roundhouse in Hong Kong. Excellent beer all around. Tasted it a while ago so can’t give specific notes but one of my favourite. Strong bitterness. Pours beautifully. Will write more next time I try it!
4.0 Tap @ In De Wildeman. Pitch black color. Beige head, a bit sticky. Aroma’s: roast, resinous hops. Retronasal: alpha acid, roast, light sweetness. Flavor: moderate sweet, moderate to full bitter, really strong taste. Medium to full bodied (rye!). Finishes with heavy roast, light ash, bitter. Nice!
3.5 Very dark brown with a tannish brown head. Thick, smooth, and toasty malt. Hints of cocoa, coffee, and char. A bit of nuts and toast, woodiness, and earthiness. Very full.
4.0 Poured deep dark brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of sweet berries toasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla. Medium body, vanilla smooth, flavour much as the aroma, moderately sweet and malty.
3.4 Bottle (500 ml) as Amager Rye Porter. Split 3-ways with JulienHuxley and Minderbinder. Appearance: Dark brown with a medium easy to revive beige head and little lacing. Aroma: Molasses, perfumy notes, rye spiciness, peppery notes and light fruitiness( berries). Taste: Molasses, peppery notes, rye spiciness, perfume notes, light berries and liquorice. Palate: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. A bit silky. Peppery finish. Overall: Too perfumy, which has probably something to do with the rye because this is the exact same impression I have with Goose Island Cherry Rye and Backyyard Rye. Lack a bit of balance. Other than that, it’s tasty and enjoyable.
3.9 Tap at harrys, jyväskylä. Dark brown color, almost black. Aroma is full roasty, licorice, coffee. Full roasty body, coffee, licorice notes.
3.2 Bottle 500ml. Pours very dark brown with low brown head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of molasses, caramel. Taste is of molasses, licorice, roasted malt, goliath cow food. Palate: Full bodied. Soft carbonation. Overall: Lots of molasses. OK.
3.5 Bottle. Black pour with tan foam. Aroma is malty, unfermented grain, molasses, feed mill, peppery rye. Taste is spicy, molasses, burnt grain, goliath 19. Palate is med bodied with med carbonation. Good.
