Amager Sundby Stout

Amager Sundby Stout

English: Maybe you feel it already, when the cap is removed and you put your nose to the bottle - this " Stout " smells different than what you are accustomed to. We have dry hopped this stout in the late stages of fermentation using the American noble varieties of Nugget , Centennial and Cascade, which allow the floral tones that make this a characteristic Stout - flavours of roasted malt give both lightness and freshness.

The glass appears Sundby Stout black , while the head is tight, light brown and almost cappuccino creamy, the tongue senses both malt sweetness, hints of bitter dark chocolate and English liquorice. Sweetness, however, cleverly balances the hard roasted malt and the split , umalted and roasted barley , which both help to give beer its roasted flavor.

Sundby Stout is a classic " Stout ", which nonetheless dares to be different and challenge convention.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt , hops, and yeast

3.5 Black pour with a thin beige head and lots of sticky lacing .... aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and some earthy notes ..... taste has some licorice, roasted malts, chocolate and some bitter dry hoppy bite, also has some dusty cocoa ..... finish is dry and bitter with lingering cocoa and roasted malts .... body is thin and mouthfeel is a little slick.... sessionable stout
3.4 Bottle. Black with a medium sized tan head with ok retention, lace and regeneration. Dry nose with roasted malt, dust, dark bread and honey. The flavour has much of the same: roasted malt, light tobacco, dark wood, light floral notes and chalk. Medium to full body, oily texture with fine soft carbonation, medium sweet and bitter with light acidity. Dry finish with roasted malt and dark chocolate. Good balance and easy to drink. Fin hverdagsstout.
3.1 Dark brown color, creamy foam. Aroma: boiled vegetables, roasted malt, caramel. Taste: sweet, caramel, roasted, halva.
4.0 50 cl bottle, BBE 06/2017. Black to very dark brown beer with a nice, large-bubbled off-white head. Some dark malts, chocolate, vanilla, licorice in the aroma. Palate is surprisingly light, low carbonation, some noticeable bitterness, not thin at all though. Flavour of chocolate, roasted malt, burnt coffee. Solid stout, very balanced and extremely drinkable.
3.5 Copenhagen 15/1 2017. 50 cl bottle from Føtex. An archaic photo of an old cafe in Sundby on the label. pours opaque dark brown with light beige head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of creamy foam. Heavy lacing. Aroma is roasted malts and caramel intermingling with more fruity and intense bitterness. Bitter coffee and a little smoke. Medium carbonation and medium thick palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a severe bitterness (in the good sense). Aftertaste is bitter coffee - with a spoon of sugar. A nice surprisingly light stout with a good even though atypical kind of bitterness. Good one.
3.5 Bottle from Beer Gonzo, webshop, Earlsdon, Coventry consumed at home Sunday 16th January 2017 whilst cooking Mechoui. Pours black as like’ with a light cappucinio coloured froth atop. Some dark bitter chocolate, a little fruity, quite smooth and with a milkiness. Liking this, its not terribly exciting but its very enjoyable. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5
3.7 Very dark brown colour, small creamy off-white head. Sweet aroma with coffee. Medium, fully carbonated body. Cappucino flavour with a hoppy aftertaste.
3.7 Mocno czekoladowe, paloność subtelna, bardzo pijalne. Zapach tożsamy, kawka, czekolada. Barwa ciemnorubinowa, piana niska, ale łądnie zdobi szkło. Porządny stout, ale nic więcej.
4.0 Medium-low frothy tan head with medium retention. Clear dark brown colour with reddish hues. Its aroma is fruity (prune), cocoa and roasted with slight smoke hints. Acid bitter taste, roasted, roasted dark fruits, hop, prune, coffee. Smooth and creamy palate.
3.6 Bottle. Snifter. Deep brown with medium, light brown, semi-thick head. Moderate head retention and lacing. Aroma are mainly roasted malts - smooth chocolate, burnt, lightly grassy, grapefruit (cascade or centennial) licorice and flowery, lightly coffee. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter - nice balance, light herbal bitterness, some coffee acidic. Medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation. In overall pure stout is note very fascinating, neither very interesting beer style. But this one has really important features of good beer - high drinkability, nice balance, the dull malty profile is lightly broken by some citrus and floral notes.

3.6 Black color with beige very small head that fades quickly. Aroma is chocolate, espresso, marshmallows. Taste is the same as aroma. Oily body with medium carbonation and bittersweet aftertaste.
3.7 [8595-20160724] 500mL bottle. Roasted wooden coffee hints and toasted grains aroma. Dark cola brown body with a medium-lasting foamy mocha head. Burnt chocolatey wooden grains flavour has a sweet molasses finish. Full body. Good. (7/3/8/4/15) 3.7
3.6 2016-07-24. Black body, nice foamy beige head and lace. 4+ Aroma is quite dusty and lightly metallic at first. Moderate dark malt. Flavour has sweet dark malt core but the overall impression is relatively dry. Lightly dusty dry roast malt throughout. Average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Decent stout. 7/4/7/3/15+ Bottle cellared several months from the LCBO, Toronto, ON.
3.8 Pours almost black with a brown head. Milky sweet smell with a hint of hops. Delicious and balanced taste.
3.3 A bit dry, with a bitter chocolate combined with some sweetness mixed in. A bit unbalanced and didn’t make a lasting impression.
3.6 Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has sweet malt, chocolate and a bit of roasted character. Taste starts with chocolate and caramel, generally on the sweet side, just some roasted malts on the finish that give off a slight bitterness. Medium body with light carbonation. Overall it’s quite good stout. Nothing special but well made and tasty.
Aromat przyjemny, palony i czkekoladowy gdzieś w tle lekka kawa. W smaku bardzo fajnie palony, czekoladowy i dość wytrawny. Bardzo dobry stout.
3.7 More dark brown than black. Very foamy head (as opposed to a creamy one). The nose has a bit of chocolate, coffee grinds, coca-cola, and a little something extra, I attribute to the dry hopping with three kinds of hops. The palate is crisper (almost having a carbonated feel) than most stouts. The aromas are present in the tastes. i applaud them for doing something different, but if you want a really great, more traditional stout, give their Hr.
3.6 Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa powder, chocolate, fruity notes, some coffee, touch of hops in the finish. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Very nice Stout.
3.7 Black colour, small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, hops, light fruity notes. Dry sweet taste with mild bitter finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Nice stout, quite simple but very drinkable.
3.6 pours unclear light brown, light mahogany tint, with a nice reviving light beige cap, some lacing. roasted grapes, semi-sweet chocolate and burnt caramel; spicy and woodsy berries - raspberries and blackberries; dusty bits of resin, lactose sweetness, metel traces. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; semi-sweet and kind of assertive spicy-woodsy finish. very nice berry-driven sweet stout (more than a stout, but eh).
The nose is quite rich and roasty. Some lighter hoppy elements in addition to the roast. Light citrus and a bit of soft pepper with a little fruit and some toffee. Bright and quite interesting. Has a little bit of bitter chocolate on the back. Quite a nice beer.
