Amager / Three Floyds Arctic SunStone

Amager / Three Floyds Arctic SunStone

English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so.
Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player.
This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

Ingredients: Water. Malts: Pale, Munich, Melanoidin. Hops: Tomahawk, Citra, Centennial, Simcoe. Yeast: UK-ale.

4.3 On tap at Ghetto SOmething, Koper. Pours pretty hazy, amber golden colour, topped with a larger white head, ok retention and a bit creamy. Very pleasant and present tropical fruity nose, mango, passionfruit, lychee and lots of sweet bubblegum with citrusy note. Fruity start, gently sweet. Moderate bittenress with some herbal character. A bit citrusy later on. Very dry finish. Medium bodied. Superbly drinkable.
4.5 A great beer with hazy amber color with white foam. Fresh aromas of peach, citrus, pine. Full body with complex taste and lovely bitterness
3.5 Rami Rami is drinking an Arctic SunStone by Amager Bryghus Takie mandarynkowe, troche slodkie, troche goryczkowe, w zadna strone nie rozchwiane a smaczne, dobre piwko
Textura acuosa.
3.8 Hazy orange and brown colour, white lacing. Sweet malty aroma, bit of fruit. Medium body, low medium carbonation, smooth mouthfeel.
3.7 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a three fingers thick slight orangy-white head. Aroma is light sweet orange and malty. Taste is rather sweet and malty, with a little of breadcrust-like bitterness emerging on the finish and aftertaste along with grapefruit rind. Nice mouthfeel, creamy and with the right, not too lively carbonation to tickle the palate. Pretty solid IPA.
3.8 Tap at BeerTemple, 17th May 18. Pours clear amber, fluffy head. Aroma is malty, some yeast and citrus. Taste is dry, bitter, slight vanilla, peach, citrus pith. Different and good.
3.4 Pivo u flaši. Popijeno u Stella Beer2Go dućanu i kušaoni piva u Medulinu.
3.5 Semi hazy orange color. Aroma has dough, resiny hops and orange rind. Taste is balanced, hoppy with a light malt character at first, resiny hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation.
W końcu to kooperacja wikingow i three floyds!
3.8 Bottle 0,50L. Hazy, almost murky, dark yellow color with a finger of frothy, off-white head. Very fruity aroma - orange, tangerine, lime with a note of spruce and pine. Light bitter with peach taste and crispy mouthfeel. Some light sweetness at the end, some tartness, too. Light to medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Good and refreshing.
2.8 Bottle, 0.5l. Thick copper pour, strong red hue. Lots of yeast floating around the glass. No head, no lacing. Caramel and herbs on the nose, very weak hop character. To be honest, this one doesn't feel so fresh. Medium body, soft carbonation. Thick and creamy texture. Bittersweet taste. Strong malty sweetness at first - caramel and toffee totally overpower the hops here. Herbal notes, slight honey. Peppery. Bitter aftertaste, a bit harsh and unbalanced. Overall, not so good. Definitely not the freshest sample here. BB date is fine though so I assume it's due to improper storage. A shame.
3.4 Golden amber with a small white head. Aroma is fruity with pine, citrus and grape. taste is sweet exotic fruits, pine and caramel.
3.2 Bottled 500ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Dark orange/golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, light grapefruity nose. Moderate malty, grapefruity hoppy, notes of herbs and caramel with some light nutty touch near the end. Not so fresh unfortunately.
3.8 Draft at Bootleggers. Written notes unfortunally lost (except a part that says quite mild and easily drinkable), only ratings remain.
3.1 0.5 bottle shared with Višnja666 and Pilot Goran. Cloudy dark golden to amber. Small off-white head. Light herbal hops, but mostly fruits, malts. Not balanced. Medium body, soft carbonation, light finish. Maybe old.
3.3 Hazy, orange-yellow colored, medium frothy off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel and biscuit, some citrus and fruity hops but also orange hard candy. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, orange hard candy, some citrus, floral and fruity hops, medium bitterness, dryish finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Feels like it died a bit somewhere between Denmark and Croatia...
3.1 Bottle, thanks kajser! Murky ochre body, white head. Huh, heavy oxidation on the aroma, malty, nutty even touches, vague apricot. Eh. Dry, light taste, apricot, soft herbal touches. This actually makes me sad. 3 months old or so, imported what, 2 months after it should have been? Still lost more than expected. This isn't a fair rating and I hope to rerate if I ever get to.
3.4 Backlog. Citrus, floral, herbs, cereal. Medium bitter, crisp, some caramel.
3.4 Dosy? przeci?tny aromat cytrusw i tropikw ze szk?a. Odrobina limonki. W smaku dosy? tre?ciwe i pe?ne. Nasycenie trochu za wysokie. Pije si? naprawde szybko, znika ze szk?a raz dwa. Fajna jak na Ap? goryczka. Niez?e cia?o. Ca?kiem ok.
3.2 from tap. nice golden color, white head. aroma of specific tropical fruits, taste a little bit sour. nit my taste
3.6 Rocky beige head left a cover on a hazy dark copper coloured, lightly effervescent body. Well balanced malt & hops aroma with over ripe stewed fruit. Medium bodied, minimal carbonation & cloying. Much as the aroma with over ripe fruit, sweet malty tastes, floral notes & a fruity finish.
3.0 W aromacie cytrusy, owoce tropikalne, szyszki chmielu, z czasem się ulatnia. Z wyglądu złote, średnio opalizujące, piana biała, gęsta, bardzo obfita. W smaku wytrawne, cytrusowe, żywiczne, goryczka wysoka, grejpfrutowa. Ciało smukłe, bardzo pijalne. Ogólnie wytrawna, goryczkowa, pijalna apa
4.5 Pours hazy amber with a big white head. Aroma and taste is citrus, pine and hoppy. Very hoppy and bitter finish. Hard to believe its only an apa. All hail to Three Floyds.
3.7 Aroma: 7 Medium aroma of malts, caramel, fruit, hops and citrus. Appearance: 5 Opaque golden/amber beer with a slight off-white head. Taste/Palate: 7/3 Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus. Overall: 15 This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Not a lot of flavour, but the quality is more than fine. Perfect appearance and a good aroma as well, but the palate could have been better.
3.8 Muy buena cerveza, segun va cogiendo temperatura desprende unos muy bueno aromas y sabores frutales.
3.8 50cl bottle. Slightly hazy golden with a medium white head. Caramel, peaches, pine and tropical fruit. Nice.
