3.8 Bottle. Super dark dense pour with a beige head. Nose is roasty and sweet. Little bit of booze, dry roasty taste. Very good.
3.8 Noir avec une robe moyenne marron foncer. L’arôme est du chocolat et surtout du malt torréfié avec un peu d’alcool et d’houblon. En bouche c’est onctueux avec plein du malt et chocolat avec une bonne finale amer.
3.5 Thanks to cards04 for this. Very deep brown with just a thin wisp of tan foam. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Flavor is roasted grains, espresso, and blackened toast. Finish is bitter with charred wood and only a slight chocolate sweetness.
3.9 Aroma: strong burned robusta, malts. Taste: light sourness, light to moderate burned and alcohol bitterness. Flavour: robusta, ashe, dry alcohol, light bitter chocolate notes. Alcohol and hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
4.0 BOTTLE 50CL from bunget. Pitch black, espresso head. Strong coffee and chocolate in the nose, roasty, a touch of alcohol. Tastes roasty, coffee, acrid black malts, zesty spicy bitterness and some ashes. Correct and classic.
3.6 Pour is motor oil with a thin espresso cap that hangs around and leaves some nice lacing. Nose is chocolate/molasses/toast/coffee - nice and promising. Taste is....a bit of a let down. There seems to be a watery patch in the middle, despite the 9% ABV and full-ish body. Texture is slick/creamy, with nice lingering bitterness on the finish. Tasty, but lacking a certain punch for my liking.
2.6 500ml bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Pours dark dark brown with small rim of tan head. Aroma is a little unsettling. Grain alcohol is most present. Licorice, chocolate, and vanilla notes in the background. Really not great. Taste is mostly bitter. There is a sharp bite with a strong alcohol finish. Body is medium-full. Sharp carbonation. Long alcohol finish. This beer was a huge disappointment. I won’t be finishing this.
3.6 Pours black with a frothy tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, hops, cream, some coffee, chocolate and caramel. Tastes of roasted malt, hops, chocolate, coffee & molasses. Bitter finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel.
3.1 Bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting, shared by the ever cool dennoman. Lots of coffee in this one, but all in all lacking a bit of thickness and body.
3.8 Smell of coffee, chocolate. Black colour, mid-brown head. Ashy palate. Aroma of burnt malt, ash, some oak. Also cocoa. Finishes with chocolate and coffee. Roasty bitter. Soft but rather plentiful carbon. Palate is part oily, part velvety.

3.8 Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured black color with a moderate fizzy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Medium to heavy toasted sweet chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.
3.7 500 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, a hint of coffee, some bitterness to the finish, decent imperial stout, albeit a touch thin, flavor is solid enough.
3.7 500ml bottle, thanks to b3shine for sharing. Very dark brown, near-black color. Thin tan head, leaving good bits of lace. Awesome coffee, moderate roast malt. Smoke. Earthy hop. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, moderate sweet. Just a touch ashy, but I don’t mind. Just slightly biting in the finish. Enjoyable imperial stout to try. I dig the smoke.
3.6 Bottle to snifter (shared with the Cinci crew; thanks DuffMan). This vintage is 9%. Looks good; a lightly translucent brownish cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, and a bit of roast and what seems like oak (even though there isn’t any mention of a barrel). Tastes like it smells with a bit of bitterness and a medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
3.5 Bottle, 2014, 9%. Pours in black body with medium froasty tan head which is gone within a minute or two. Aroma has a gentle roastiness, little bit of dark chocolate, along with some pretty light acidity on the nose. Taste has high earthy acidic bitterness right upfront but gets balanced by a high roasty sweetness, coffee, dark chocolate. Long bitterness in the after taste. Body is pretty dry, heavy, medium-high carbonation. Alcohol is a little bit too warming for my taste.
3.6 500 ml bottle from LCBO Hawkesbury (Ontario) on November 28, 2014 (9% version). Black, small beige head. Fruity coffee aroma, not to strong. Spicy moka coffee taste, but somewhat dry, nice bitter coffee aftertaste. Not a tempest in your mouth, but at less not an over the top monster now a days!
3.8 500 ml bottle from the LCBO. Appearance: Pours a dark black with a bit of tan head, shorter retention and lots of lacing. Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, dark malt, smoke. Flavours: Coco, dark malt, cola, black coffee Mouthfeel: Thinner with moderate carbonation. Overall: A nice imperial stout. Not as good as some of the other options on the market like Bolsevik Bastard but still petty decent.
2.8 All around good but very boozey tasting... better when it sits for a while... going to cellar a bottle to see if its better
3.8 Bottle. Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate, light oxidation, mocha pie, vanilla and coffee. Medium body.
3.8 Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Roasted and chocolate aromas. Chocolate, roasted and malty flavors.
3.9 Bottle - 500ml (2014). Pours an opaque black body with an average, fading, beige foamy head. Rich malty aroma with vineous and chocolate hints. Alcohol is not agressive. Its robust malty/hoppy aroma carries roasty, licorice, woody, and plummy notes. Ends with a long, strong, warming, bitter/roasty finish. Very well done.
3.5 From LCBO, drank at Ian's place in Toronto. Inky black with thin beige watery head. Smells of cola, potpourri/florals, spice, dried fruit, bit of soy sauce. Tastes of spiced cola, coffee, slightly syrupy malt, quite bitter. Body is bitter, fizzy.
3.5 Bottle from LCBO at Ian's in Toronto. Dark black pour, very little head. Aroma is dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malt. Taste is big but standard imperial stout - mostly roasted malt, some coffee bitterness, some dark fruit. Good coffee flavor. Lasting finish - a bit boozy. Good.
4.3 Opaque black with beautiful thick yellow-brown foam. Very deep and strong coffee, cocoa + herbal aroma. Taste is also very deep, hints of dark chocolate, carmel, licorice and champagne. The taste is even developing more when the temperature increases, so do not cool down it too much. Very good beer!
