Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer

Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer

We are excited to announce the debut of Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer™, a limited release inspired by Anchor Steam® Beer, the original California Common. San Francisco’s famous Anchor Steam® Beer is unique for its brewing process which has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. To give this classic beer a radically traditional twist, Brewmaster Scott Ungermann created Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer. Made with its own special recipe, the brew is dry-hopped with a blend of new and traditional hops. The result weds the rich maltiness of Anchor Steam with an alluring fragrant hoppiness of our ales.

Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Product Image“Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer is both a historical nod to our roots and a cutting edge, modern beer,” said Brewmaster Scott Ungermann. “We took our most popular, classic beer and gave it a contemporary twist by introducing a lighter body and an elevated, dynamic hop profile using new and classic hop varieties. The result is a California Common with a unique hop bitterness balanced by a light malty sweetness.” The original Anchor Steam Beer has rich caramel malt flavors balanced by an herbal hop spiciness. Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer, on the other hand, has flavors of light malty sweetness with distinct aromas of citrus and stone fruit, and a lingering, bitter hop finish. Brilliant amber in color with a tight, tan head, Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer is moderately full in body, smooth and velvety.

3.2 12 fl oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is mild herbal and toasted malty. Medium dry, toasted and slight herbal. Dry herbal and flat malty finish.
3.7 Clear bronze big head. Aroma of caramel, toast, floral hops. Classic Anchor steam taste of malts, toast and just a little dry bitterness. Finish is more of the same. Well, I like it, really do, but can’t taste a big difference from the original. If anything the aroma might give away the hops, but it’s not drastic. Cool anyways, if only a little twist on the og.
3.8 From Boxbeers. In Teku glass. Playing Tales Across Time. Great toffee nose. Mouth nice too but with a strange citrusy sourness that isnt unpleasant but off. Very different from regular anchor steam
3.5 Bottled. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, hops, fruits, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruits, hops, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.
3.6 Hazy orange color with off-white head. Aroma is quite malty with orange jam notes. Taste has also nice orange notes, a bit spicy, solid malt backbone, light earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body, medium to low carbonation, quite smooth feel. Overall it’s a really well made and tasty ale.
3.3 Slightly cloudy amber/orange with a foamy white head. Very bready aroma without much else. Tastes like an amber ale with a slight cooked vegetable hop bitterness. Kind of thin bodied. Leaves a lasting dry vegetal bitterness. I’m not sure but this might not be fresh as it didn’t have the clean taste of Anchor Steam or a clear hop bitterness you’d expect from dry hopping. I’ll re-rate when I get another one.
3.3 Tap at pub. Pours amber with medium sized fluffy head. Aroma has mild pine and citrus with caramel malts. Taste has some citrus with caramel malts. Pretty good.
3.4 Pour from a 12oz bottle. Slightly cloudy tan brew with small off white head, good lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, green fruit; a little citrus and resin. Taste is moderate malt up front, bready with caramel, slowly emerging green fruit with a slightly resinous finish. Nice balance between the malt and the hops and a good hops profile but not trying to be an IPA. I
3.2 Aroma: Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, fruit, bread and hops. Appearance: Hazy amber/orange beer with a slight/medium off-white/beige head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread and hops. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Honestly; the dry-hopping is not even that noticeable, but it is only slightly better than its original even though it gets the same rating from me.
3.5 Aroma: herbs and floral notes, weak grapefruit notes. Appearance: hazy golden color and white head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, grapefruit peel, floral, slightly stalky, dry. Palate: low body and medium carbonation. Overall: nice California Common, decent bitterness, nice hoppy notes.

3.5 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Oily palate.

2.6 As a hop lover I was expecting a good hop nose. It disappointed as there was almost no hop nose. It did have a nice malt aroma but that’s it. Overall quite drinkable but not what I was expecting. Also I wish that Anchor would indicate the brewed-on date.
3.5 Fruity fragrance Fruity and lightly dried fruit in taste. Good bust that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. A little alcohol taste at the end of the beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.6 Clear amber, white froth. Thick, caramely aroma, somewhat bready. Bready flavour, caramely with good bitter finish.
3.2 Bread biscuits and malt. Sweeter malt and watery taste. Finish is clear and slightly bitter.
2.8 Draft at the Kaisla, Helsinki, Finland. Enjoyed on Apr 5th, 2017. Clear amber color with a small to medium size off-white head. Sweet hops, herbal notes and sugar in the aroma. The flavor is sweet malt, sugar and herbal hops. Mild bitterness. Not really a beer that I’ll remember.
3.5 Bottled. Pours clear amber colour with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel and piney notes. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and decent bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice and pleasent brew. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.3 Nose is small but sweet. Golden light hazy. Taste is malty sweet with tones of honey and dried fruir. Palate leaves with sweetness and light bitterness.
3.7 Pours a slightly hazy coppery orangish color with off-white head. Citrus, light fruits, and some cereal grain on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a nice balance between the malt and hops.
3.1 Keg at the ushers.. Murky amber.. Thin white lacing... Soft sweet caramel toffee malts nose... Massive woody caramel crystal toffee fruit.. Light floral finish
4.0 Bottle from Supersaves Wine, Westbourne. Malty one the nose with some grassy hop aromas. Flavour is biscuit malts with a nice citrus hop finish. Enjoyed but preferred the non dry hopped version.
3.6 Cloudy with big head. The beer has a peppery and zesty aroma with nice, juicy malts. The mouthfeel is creamy and very satisfying. Taste is very well balanced with juicy malts and mild bitterness. Quite nice finish with zesty notes. Its wat better then the original version. Very drinkable, a good bbq beer.
3.6 Bottle from systembolaget. Pours a light amber colour beer with a medium head. Fruity and hoppy with notes of Steam and smoke. Dry finish.
3.9 Da hat doch einer mit belgischer Hefe nachvergoren 😀. Toll kräutriger Smell, a little bit funky und schön green. Der Trunk toll austariert, zuerst angesweetet malty dann getreidig angestumpf und zum Ende mit fettem White Wine Dry Out(inklusive Lemon Flashes 😎). Hui!!! Mal ein ganz außer-und ungewöhnliches Cali. 355ml Fläschchen from BEYOND BEER in HH. 3,50€.
3.4 Pours two fingers of head on a hazy straw body. Aroma is grains with an undercurrent of lemon and pineapple. Taste mild grains, mild lemon and pine bitterness. Texture is crisp. The dry-hop is a nice addition
3.6 355 ml bottle from BeerLovers. Dark amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, bread, caramel, tea leaves, red apples, some citrus. Tastes quite similar, with more of the nice bready notes. Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation. Finishes smooth, medium bitter, medium dry, hoppy, zesty, piney, bready. Really nice. Quaffable and smooth, with lovely bready malts, supported by various fruits and some tea like notes. Not very different to the regular Steam Beer, except some more depth and the finish, where the hops take over finally. Overall refreshing, balanced stuff, as always from Anchor.
