Ale brewed with summit hops. Triple fermented. First in French Oak Foudres, second in pinot noir and whiskey barrels with brett and other critters. Finally in the bottle for natural carbonation.

3.9On tap @ Mon Petit Cafe Bad Cannstatt. Ganz schwarzes Bier. Brauner feiner Schaum. Eleganter Duft. Sanfte Säure, Vanille, Rotwein und Rum. Dazu Röstmalz. Im Geschmack säuerliches Röstmalz. Recht streng. Dann der Rotwein. Für mich nicht ganz rund.
4.2Schwarzes Bier kürzer cremiger schaum, im Geruch schlne fruchtige säure dazu schwere malzig Noten und fass, im Geschmack holzig fruchtige säure milchig Karamell malz röstmalz, Top

Taste of tart cherries, yeast, sour, oak, pinot, light notes of whiskey, toffee, witb an earthy roasted malt and bitterness on the finish. Complex and interesting.

Aroma is malt, red fruits, chocolate, tart.
Taste is malt, cherries, chocolate, red wine, oak, tart, hints of bourbon.
Medium body, average carbonation.
3.5Near black colour. Thin head. Mellow dark fruits, hint of chocolate. Tart, light berry notes, touch of wood, and some darker chocolate accents. Ok, classic dark sour though and for some reason I struggle with those.
3.6375ml bottle from The Gull (thx, Alex!) at Teekay. Batch #5.
Appearance: very dark brown with a weak beige head
Aroma: aroma is roasted malt, sourish, some chocolate and slight bourbon
Taste: similar, bretts, quite dry, some ascorbic notes
Overall: I would prefer this one to have a bit more of residual sugars and be less dry, but it's still pretty good.
3.7Black colour, very little lacing. Vinous aroma with berries, soucy and herbal. Dry and tart taste, warming finish. Light body, low medium carbonation, slick mouthfeel.
3.3Tolles Flaschendesign. Dabei echt gut trinkbar.
4.0@Au Trappiste - dark black with a poor head retention; fair notes of wood, red wine barrel and sour cherries; full-bodied, light sweet, decently sour; dry and long astringent woody finish of red wine and whisky
3.8750ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Tart-ish fruity, slightly vinous and funky aroma, notes of morello, blue grapes, plum, slightly chococlately, dark malty background. Taste is vinous, fruity, dark malty and minimally funky, slightly tangy, notes of morello, bluegrapes, dried dark fruit, raisin, a chocolately touch with subtle, residual sweetness, spicy overtones with a touch of black pepper; lingering tart and minimally caustic finish, lively, prickling, carbonation. Well balanced, homogeneous and harmonious.
3.36/X/18 - 75cl bottle @ late RBBSG, Brouwerij Totem (Evergem), BB: n/a - (2018-1545) Thanks to 77ships for the trade!
Clear deep brown beer, small to no head. Aroma: lots and lots of chlorine, bit oxidized. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: lots of chlorine, very acidic, vinegar, roasted notes, metallic, unpleasant bitterness. Aftertaste: very roasted, unpleasant, bitter, sourish. Not a bad beer, but I don't like it much...
3.8F: big, tan, average retention.
C: brown, bit hazy.
A: vinous, malty, caramel, dried fruits, bit leaves.
T: malty, herbal, caramel, full body and medium carbonation, quite dry and bitter for the style yet very nice balanced and enjoyable beer for sure, sample from 75cl bottle @ RBBSG 10/2018.

Nose is deep dark figs, red grape, syrup, lots of red grape, oak, low vinous,… Lively bit fizzy, grape, acidic, red grape, fruit, lively very vinous with some dark fruit sweetness, lots of spoiled grape in a good way, oak,… Lively very solid but not as awesome as hoped still very tasty.
4.0Bottle at Au Trappiste. Pours darkest brown. Aroma is oak, pinot noir, indeed some whisky, blooming flowers. Body is medium, strongly sour and tart, lots of fig and dark dried fruit. Lots of roasted malts in the body, yet rather in the background. Good!
3.8From bottle at Biercafe Au Trappist, Bern, during Zwanze Day 2018. Very dark mahogany color with a tan colored head. Aroma of whiskey, smoke and dark berries. Medium to medium-full body with a soft carbonation, a light sourness and a light tartness. 4.3750 ml bottle, Taved by the bell. Light black with an effervescent mocha head. Aroma is legit, chocolate, coffee, pinot noir, brett. Flavor is deep and delicious, big chocolate notes, sweet start with a vinous bretty finish and coffee to boot. The mouthfeel is filthy, so disgusting that it should be illegal. So silky smooth, haven't felt this smoothness since touching the hair of the Zohan in Scrappy Coco's salon. A sick, disgusting offering from Anchorage. If you don't think this fucks you're a clown.
Aromat bogaty, dobrze skomponowany i zbalansowany. Subtelnie i bogato, bardzo wykwintnie. Wychodzi później trochę nut palonych i porterowych.
3.6Midnight black pour, little bit of brown head. Bright lemon pledge aroma, hint boozy, some weathered wood, very subtle molasses. Lower viscosity, clean finish, low carbonation. Red fruit Flavors imparted from Pinot barrels, woodsy flavor from whiskey barrels, bitter pert hops that are lemony. Really nice and light, easy going sour with great amount of complexity.
4.9Amazing. Pours black with a thick head. Taste citrusy with very hoppy after taste. The wine and whiskey barrel aging is clear when you taste this. My favorite sour.
3.9Black with a brown head - Sour malt and wood aroma - Sour dark malt body with wood flavours - The sour flaovur goes into the finish - This was good
3.8Small cream - tan head, irregular, over near-black beer. Sour nose, lactic acid, vinous wet wood; red wine barrels, fruity esters. Sourish to pretty sour, again both woody & lacitd; buttermilk, lactic acid, green tomatoes. Hing at roasted/burnt malts, non-sweet. Serious acidthinning and -burn, according body. Feels spritzy and yet undercarbonated at the same time. Not bad, but a bit more complexity would be welcome.
3.8Backlog from BUMBa. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malts, lots of oak, dark fruits, vinegar, molasses, kind of like oud-bruin. Lots of sweet malts.
4.0Bottle from Highland 6-26-16
Previously 4.1 Bottle from Highland 2-21-15
3.5Bottle. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, oak, bourbon and some fruit. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, oak, bourbon, fruit and cocoa with medium carbonation and a smooth aftertaste. Interesting.
