2.6 Heldere roodbruine kleur met een goedr kraag. Ruikt zoetig, honing, fris. Smaakt zurig, honing. Te zuur.
3.6 Donker oranje bier met een goede witte schuim kraag. Ruikt goed zuur. Smaakt zuur, beetje zilt ofzo.
3.6 bottle shared by mathieuc, many thanks bro! pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige cap, minimal retention and lacing. raspberries, cherries - citric fruits with an acetic touch, never overwhelming - balsamic figs; very spicy, chocolate powder, loads of tannins. light carbonation, light-medium acidity; light body; tingling, very tannic and grassy-spicy finish. nice but CS and anchorage alone do better..
3.6 Thanks to nate321 for this bottle! Pours a dark red with a small beige rim on top that leaves somewhat good lacing. Nose is of light acetone, oak, wine, moderate vinegar and light cheese. Taste is of balsamic vinegar like it should but also incredibly oaky. Grapes, cherries and light spirits (must be the cognac) make up the rest of the flavors. Both body and carbonation were medium and acidity level is moderate and refreshing. Easy drinking enough. Overall a good but not great Flanders-style ale.
3.7 750ml bottle pours a murky brown with some creamy, white head. Nose has some balsamic vinegar, mild wood, a little grapey, malt, some caramel, some vanillin, green bell pepper. Flavor has lots of vegetal notes, caramel too, some fig/raisin, herbal, sumac, grape jelly, some vinegar. Tart finish.
3.8 great stuff, strong brandy and sherry type flavors, ruch, full bodied and tart/dry. Great combination
3.7 A dark red pour. Big tart aroma. Big oak with an acidic sour to follow. Slight alcholic. Good stuff.
4.2 Pours a deep caramel brown with some light tan head. Fair lacing, good legs, thin collar persists. Aroma is dry hay, very light smoke, tart plum and dark cherry all with a big brett funk. Taste is much like the aroma with the dark fruits playing well with the earthy smokiness. I get a faint herbaceousness as well. High carbonation and medium body. Very bubbly on the tongue
4.6 Pours a deep mahogany color with some ruby edges and two fingers of tight eggshell foam. Nose is inviting with ripe burgundy acidity, soft roasted grain, sweet pipe smoke, violets, funky old wood, caramel, dark fruits... Mmmm palate follows with a mysterious fruitiness that is both unique and delicious. Its like soft cognac soaked plums, with cherries, cranberries and pinot noir grapes added into the mix. Nice backbone of soft medium roasted malts with hints of cocoa and caramel that back up the moderate acidity and mingle with an earthy leather and mushroom nuance. Really soft and deliciously delicate sour beer !
4.0 это пиво очень вкусно. я бы, конечно, рекомендую его всем. пожалуйста, обратитесь его. очень хорошо!
4.0 Bottle. Pours deep dark maroon, with a small creamy head. Aroma is tart and fruity, with canned cherries, red berries, oak and cognac barrels, as well as blackcurrants, wine grapes and tannins. Full body, with soft to no carbonation. Flavour is tart with blackcurrants, red berries and cherries, as well as oak barrels and tobacco. Tart fruity finish with grapes and tannins.
4.0 Really good, complex sour brown. Tannins, dark fruits, cherries, subtle cognac, oak, tart and sour, bit funky, malty.
3.4 Bottle thanks to Jason for sharing. Reddish-brown pour with a small head that quickly fades to a thin ring. Aromas are overripe cherries, musty oak, light barnyard, and vinegar. Taste has a light to medium sourness. Moderate musty funk with lots of red fruit and a touch of booze. Decent but I’m just not loving sour red/browns lately.
3.6 Bottle: Thanks, Jason. Dark copper body; semi-translucent with a khaki foam on top that disperses quickly to a foamy collar. Tart red apple aroma with a good amount of vinous red grape, red wine oak, & semisweet booziness. I get more wine than cognac on the nose, but that’s okay. Faint lemon, mild acidity, & a pinch of lactic acid. Light hints of vanilla, cherry, & wood. Flavor is heavier on the vinous notes, as well as the ripe cherry flavors, coming alive with a good deal of acidity & a nice bite of sour lacto. Hints of cinnamon, spicy oak, red apple, & red wine grapes that battle between lactic sourness & vinous booziness. Slightly dry finish with a lingering sweet boozy cherry & woody finish. Really enjoyable stuff.
3.6 Courtesy of Jason R Bottle: The aroma consists of cola sour cherries, light lemon, vinegar, faint dark fruit, and vinous notes. It pours a transparent orangish-brown with a minimal beige head that quickly fades to a minimal film. The flavor starts with a quick dose of cola and a touch of vinegar. The finish has light sour cherries, lemon, oak, dark fruit, cognac, and oak. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and somewhat thin mouthfeel.
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours clear intense brown, little to no white-greyish beige head. Funky fruit aroma; mango and peach, with some dried grapes (aka raisins), figs and plums, stewed forest fruits; quite a nice bouquet. Light body, a bit watery, nice oaky touches and subtle sourness. Very vinious but lacks body. Taste of a good fresh burgundy chardonnay; lots of burnt oak, sweet apple, slight balsamic vinegar touch. Would have expected a bit more dense body, but for the rest very subtle indeed. Nice collab of two beautiful American breweries!
4.2 Bottle@Sad Fish tasting aka Haarlemmestraat tasting aka Elite tasting aka did Dean do something (stupid) today aka Benzais’ endless triangle travel aka Chris’ Birthday tasting: Bottle: Thanks Julien: Served in a taster: Deep dark red ish brown with a small head. Aroma of wood, wild yeast, raisin, tart and some berries. Flavour is tart, fruity, bitter, wild yeast, wood, some herbs, light sweet tart. Aftertaste is tart, fruity, light dry and some wood. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, tart light dry texture. Very good stuff, perfect copy of the original Belgian style!
4.0 Bottle shared by daje Pours dark dark brown with a nice tanned head. Smell of tart berries, funk, barnyard, cognac, grapes, hints of toast, dark fruits and malts. Moderate sweet, very fruity, i find tart berries and funk, complex play with dark fruits, delicious stuff. Moderate bitter, some astrigent tannins, quite nice. Wow, a superb sour from two of the very best breweries. I liked this one a lot
4.1 Bottle shared @ Tasting. Murky brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma is lightly sour, tart, sour fruits. Tastes about the same, but a very balanced flavor. Starts out sour but it’s so incredibly balanced and fruity. Very nice this one!
3.9 Bottle, pours hazy red Amber color with small head. Notes are sour cherry funk, Brett, light cognac, and minerals. A little lactic and slightly acidic. Nice
3.9 Bottle at a tasting. Hazy brown pour with thin ring of foam. Aroma is really nice, good cherry, typical Flanders Red with nice spicy oaky notes, light cognac. Taste is tart, bretty, earthy, mineral notes, oaky, cherry flavors. Nice.
3.8 Bottle shared thanks to JulienHuxley. Pours murky brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of tart red fruits, Brett funk, wood and cognac. Flavour is moderate sweet and acidic. Over medium bodied with light carbonation.
3.8 Slight letdown from Anchorage, considering some of the hype behind it. It reminded me of a big flanders, with heightened barrel notes. Very tart, prominent brett as with every Anchorage beer, and some bigger malts than usual. I personally like my sours a bit drier and ’cleaner’, so this was a bit excessive. Still, very nice.
4.2 Bottle@guren brewing clean shave ipa with Bolton brewery. Small head dark copper brown. Barnyard sweat leather. Wet hay. Sweet sour. Tart finish. Good body!! Lactose!! Complex strange brew.
4.3 Pours very dark brown with a low tan head. Aromas of cherries, funk, almond, roasted oak, plum, slight sherry notes. Taste is cherries, funk, almond, plum, slight vanilla and plum notes. Mouthfeel is quite astringent yet very smooth with soft carbonation. Very very good!
4.2 Pours deep brown with low off-white head. Aroma of bretta, grapes, redcurrant, sweet cherry, oak barrels. Taste is big fruit and sour tart with light fruit sour finish. Light, smooth and crisp body.
3.8 Deep rich red purple pour. Aroma is fantastic - nice vanilla coke aroma which grows as it warms. Wow! No cognac apparent here. Taste is woody cola with a mild sour; very oak strong in the taste without fruitiness or spirit. An interesting wild ale but not a classic.
4.0 Bottle to glass. Deep amber mahogany brown color with a thin light brown head quickly dissipating. Aroma is sour dark fruits, a finishing nose hard describe, but wonderful. Potently tart flavor, oily slightly flat body. The cognac definitely plays a part. Delicious and unique.
1.8 750 ml bottle. Pours a reddish color with a khaki head. Aroma of green apples, rubber bands, booze. Flavor is gross. Red wine, vinegar, booze, wood, rubber bands, green apple, tons of acid. Booze and acid is how I describe this. Slick mouthfeel. I had a solid 6 oz. pour of this and its almost unfinishable. This is gross. Not a good beer.
4.0 On tap at Crooked Stave (The Source). Deep reddish brown appearance with a lingering beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, oak, earth, funky yeast, sour notes and a touch of cognac. Similar flavor, sour, tart, funky, woody and fruity with a light puckering feel. Medium body with a lingering finish. Dank.
