3.4 Good hoppy citrus aroma. Small but durable off-white head. Hazy dark orange body. Great citrus taste and very intensive bitterness. Long lasting aftertaste.
3.5 aroma has a fruity and yeasty quality along with candyish malt..its a cloudy iced tea colored beer with pure white foamy head plenty of lacing..tastes like the aroma orange fruitiness with candylike sweetness and that spicy yeasty quality not as bitter as most ipa’s either..sticky slick palate and fairly full bodied its good in a way but not a favorite for reasons listed above
3.9 Bottle from Lekkerbier, Joure. Dark blonde colour, dense white head. Aroma has hops, balancing between bitterness and fruits. Fruits like citrus and grapefruit. Bitter taste, full bodied, smooth, reasonable long finish. Very nice.
3.7 bottle, at klub malych pivovaru. bright orange with a thin head; aroma of cookie dough and pine; not overly bitter for a double ipa but the better for it, revealing some bready malt, pine, grapefruit and a really clean but not dull character
3.2 Shared bottle at Zly Casy, Prague. Pours hazy golden with a huge frothy white head. Aromaof citrussy hops and caramel. Taste is dusty hops, but almost overpowered by the malts.
3.5 Bottle split at JF’s, cheers James, 19/07/13. Labelled as ’AV - Imperial IPA’. Very lightly hazed golden amber with a decent sized off white head that retains well. Nose is caramel malt forward, hops, bitter orange, light pine. Taste comprises caramel malt, light tropical fruit medley, bitter orange, hint of bitter grapefruit, light hop notes. Full end of medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with hop bitterness. Ok DIPA - nothing too exciting though.
3.9 Amber color with medium head. Aroma is grape, tropical fruits. Flavor is greap, hops, bitter.
4.2 Dark amber with nice creamy head Lots of ripe fruit in the aroma; orange, mango. Pine and cocoa also. Much the same with flavor, with addition of bitter hops. Palate is smooth.
3.1 A - Pours a brilliantly clear amber with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Very good looking. S - Fruity - pineapple, orange, and mango stand out the most. Faint caramel and pale malt. T - Follows the nose - pineapple, orange, mango, strawberries. Floral perfume, caramel malt is in the shadows along with some honey and alcohol. Clean citrus oil sits on the back of the tongue. Finishes dry and clean. M - Medium body, low side of medium carbonation. Alcohol is evident. Was alot of aroma coming of this beer. This drinks good but doesn’t really have a wow factor. Seems like the base of hop ottin. Serving type: bottle 12-11-2011
4.4 Cerveja para quem gosta de sentir amargor dos lúpulos e também álcool no palato e retrogosto, complexa, divina tanto em garrafa quanto na pressão.
3.6 Botella. Muy buena presencia dorada con una corona compacta y persistente. Aroma ligero a pan, pino y hierbas. Sabor cítrico y resinoso con buena integración de las maltas dulces. Final largo seco y resinoso
3.5 Really tasty ipa. First one out of this brewery. Very bitter and very hoppy. Ella very fruity.
3.8 355ml bottle. Hazy, light copper colored. Huge and long lasting white head. Sweet fruits, pine and grapefruit on nose. Fresh citrus, tropical fruits and little kick of alcohol on taste. Full bodied and fizzy palate. Enjoy it fresh! Its pretty good.
3.3 Appearance: Dark orange, a little hazy, medium off white head. Aroma: hoppy, a little soapy, orange peel, malty, sweet. Bitter too. Flavour: Perfumey, super sweet, very hoppy, slick, sticky mouthfeel, definite alcohol presence, quite a bitter taste, all a bit unbalanced for me.
3.5 Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is caramel, citrus and heavy grapefruit. Flavour is caramel, heavy citrus, alcohol and grapefruit.
4.5 Piana szybko opada, zapach karmelowo-owocowy, goryczka alkoholowa, bardzo pijalne, polecam.
4.4 Dobre, pachnace swiezymi chmielami, zbozem swiezo zebranym.
3.5 Bottle->tulip. Murky dark orange with medium lacy white head. Aroma: deep floral and citrus hops. Taste: strong hops and sweet malt, descending to bitter aftertaste. Thick and chewy mouthfeel. Good.
4.3 Slightly hazy bright gold pour, white, thin head. Looks appetizing. Great lacing. Big citrus, orange, orange peel, grapefruit, sweaty yeast nose. Huge blast of hops up front all backed up by big malt flavours. Soft and slick in the mouth, low carbonation. Sweet bitterness dominates the finish. Lovely.
3.9 Pours almost clear orange with a white head. Taste is sweet and very hoppie...citrus/orange/grapefruit with some carmamel notes. Nice and long bitter finish. Nice one.
4.0 Bottle at the Black Sheep in Dublin. Not this bottle but this one: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/anderson-valley-imperial-ipa/138146/ Pours a dark orange with little head. Tropical fruity aroma. Well balanced malty sweetness with bitter finish. Ver nice beer.
3.9 Clear golden color with big and long-lasting head. Aroma is quite intensive with citrus and sweet fruits. Lots of citrus and herbal hops in taste. This is what I’m looking for in IIPA! Finish is very bitter, but bitterness is very pleasant. Very good one!
3.5 Bottled 330ml.- at Sörspecialista.hu, Budapest. Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, pleasant grapefruity hoppy nose. Quite aromatic hoppy fruity taste with notes of caramel and spices. Hint of passion fruit and alcohol in the finish.
3.9 Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, candy, tropical fruits, candied fruit and lychee. Bitter flavour, hops, malts and tropical fruit. Hoppy finish, tropical fruits with a lingering bitterness. (From 33cL bottle @ American Beer Tasting, Café De Kleine Wereld, Breda. As Anderson Valley Imperial IPA.)
5.0 This could be the only beer I ever give a perfect score. This is my cup of hop tea. I hope its not gone for good. The honey nectar vanilla caramel cream toffee malt in perfect balance with the finest traditional Pacific northwest hops. Nectar of the gods.
4.2 bottle. pours blonde, good foam. smell is very nice but not super-intence. fruity hops ( exotic) like mango and stuff. soft carbo, bitterness, followed by sweetness, again those exotic fruits, bitter ending, long lasting aftertaste... damn, maybe i should change my favourite style. imperial IPA’s are ALWAYS good, arn’t they ? damn !
3.7 Bottle. Orange with a thin head. Flavour is beautiful deep hop, fruit, flower bitter and damn good
4.1 12 oz bottle @ home from Drinks & Gifts in Krommenie. I love IPA’s, but this one has a nice touch. Not as bitter as a normal IPA. A little sweetness in the back. Somehow reminds me of Christmas trees :) risk to repeat!
3.5 Bottle 12 fl.oz. Pours hazy amber in color with off-white head. Leaves a nice lacing on the glass, so points for that. Pine, sweet fudge and notes of malts in aroma. Sweet and actually quite subtle notes of them piney hops in taste. Feels more malt-driven this one though. Light piney and grassy hoppy afertaste nonetheless. Light perfume notes, some sweetness with that grassy bitterness in finish.
4.3 Aroma has fresh malts and fruity hops. Taste has a smooth, creamy malty feel. Also some sharp, sweet tropical fruit. Quite easy to drink, not too sticky or heavy.
