Anderson Valley Fall Hornin' Pumpkin Ale

Anderson Valley Fall Hornin' Pumpkin Ale

With a brilliant, deep copper hue and creamy beige-colored head, our Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale has inviting aromas of caramelized malt and baking bread with highlights of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and seasonal spices. The pleasantly creamy mouthfeel and silky body embrace the sweet caramel flavors and tang of spices (with just a hint of hops) that ends in a smooth, round finish.

2.8 W aromacie dużo przypraw, pikantności, ziemistości, trochę dyniowej słodyczy. W smaku troche zbyt agresywne w pikantną, ziemistą stronę, mało soczystości, troche jak gryźć nieobrana marchewkę prosto z ziemi. Nienajlepsze.
3.6 Bottle at home, dark brown beer, small head. Aroma is malt, pumpkin, spice. Taste is the same, sweet, some bitterness, not bad.
3.7 Just enjoyed this on tap; as a bit of background, waitress suggested it as a brown ale option, did not give any indication this was a pumpkin ale, which I probably would have declined had I known. As it happened, I was pleasantly surprised by this subtly pumpkin-accented brown ale, which features both solid caramel malt flavors, a bit of hoppy bitterness, and a pumpkin spice seasonal flair. The appearance to start out was also exceptional, with a full amber-brown hue and an off-white creamy head. Aroma did not explicitly betray the pumpkin flavor, featured standard caramel maltiness with some nutmeg and other spices. Taste was primarily somewhere between a standard amber ale and brown ale, with caramel malt and a moderate earthy hop bitterness, but then had a comfortably present-but-not-overwhelming pumpkin/ pumpkin spice flavor. Smooth and medium-bodied, just a comfortable beer to drink. I haven’t ventured to try many pumpkin-infused ales, but if they’re more on the nuanced side such as this, I may have to. Well-done overall.
3.4 31st Jan 2017: 12oz can at my Son-in-Laws place, California. Wow, Pumpkin and Cinnamon rule this brew from start to finish, never had such a powerful ’Pumpkin Ale’ before (that I remember). Looked good, had a wonderful (spiced Pumpkin) aroma and taste: my sweet tooth loved it, my beer tasting head however struggled to fit in the flavours and I have had to score objectively rather than with my sweet tooth.
3.3 355 ml bottle. Pours a clear slightly red chestnut brown with an off-white head. The aroma is spicy with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg. Medium body with a low carbonation, a light to medium sweetness and a light bitterness. The taste is similar to the aroma with the same spices, ginger, roast apple, some caramel.
3.1 330 ml bottle chestnut, off white head, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, taste is the same medium to light body, soft carbonisation
3.4 Amberrood/bruin, crèmekleurige snel zakkende schuimkraag, weinig koolzuur en helder. Aroma: Karamel Mouten, gebakken brood, nootmuskaat, kaneel, kruidig en zoetige pompoen. Smaak: Kaneel, gember, nootmuskaat, kruidig, brood/biscuit,  karamel, toffee. Ergens in de verte proef je tussendoor wat pompoen. Iets zoet, licht bitter. Body is medium, zacht mondgevoel met een kruidige prikkeling. Afdronk is zoetig en kruidig. Best wel OK.
4.0 From a 12 oz bottle into a Rodenbach stem glass. Pours brown with head and lace. Aroma of nutmeg, caramel malts, cinnamon. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of pale malts, grains, cinnamon, nutmeg, gourd, minerals, seasonal spices. Overall rich and tasty if you like this style with interesting balance between the spices and malt-gourd base, with an emphasis on spice.
3.1 Bottle. Dark amber to copper appearance. Creamy head. All spice in the aroma. Flavor is spice and autumn notes. Light malty sweetness.
4.0 Pours clear walnut with two finger of tan head. Aroma is spiced like gingerbread with molasses. Flavor is sweet and rich like a liquid gingerbread cookie.
4.0 Bottle 0.33 Вкусно! В послевкусии деликатная мягкая горчинка. Чувствуются тыква и корица.
3.2 Can sample. Murky amber brown color, beige head. Aroma and flavors of winter spices, ginger, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, clove and nutmeg, quite sweet and malty, very light pumpkin notes. Medium bodied, oily on palate. Decent.
2.8 W aromacie cynamon, goździk troszeczkę miodu i karmel. W smaku przyjemnie słodowe i przyprawowe, lecz na dłuższą mete jest to piwo dosyć zamulajace. Generalnie nuda i równie dobrze jakby nie dodali dyni byłby ten sam efekt.
3.4 Bottlefrom Albert Heijn at home. Deep mahogany with beige head. Some toffee, quite some spices. It’s a bit like "kruidkoek" or Christmas cake. Ginger, cinnamon, some sweet malts and a hint of pimpkin. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with a slightly slick oily feel. Not bad.
3.2 From a bottle. Quite a restrained use of the spices that doesn’t overpower the malt or hop flavours, one of the better pumpkin beers.
3.7 Light mahogany colored beer with a foamy beige head. Warming cinnamon and pie spice nose. Caramel and toffee sweetness with come roasted grains and all the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove that you expect from a pumpkin seasonal. Better than most.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a dark amber beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma of vegetal, pumpkin spices, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor is light sweet and herbal vegetal, very softly carbonated. Big on the herbal influences, like many pumpkin ales. Long herbal sweet aftertaste. Decent.
3.5 Draft sample at Cafe Hesp Amsterdam Pubcrawl. 15.10.2016. Thanks guys for sharing. Pour it dark brown color with medium black head. Aroma clove, thyme, herbal note. Taste of spices, pumpkin, sweet licorice, caramel finish, average carbonation, medium body, creamy, sticky, abrupt finish. Nice pumpkin ale.
2.6 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.6 A very good pumpkin ale. Pours a nice deep Amber with a tan head. Smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, spices. Taste is bright, with pumpkin, cinnamon, citrus. Had on tap at West Coast Drinkery.
3.5 Aroma: Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, pumpkin, roasted malts and spices. Appearance: Turbid/opaque dark orange/dark brown beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium beige head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, pumpkin and spices; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and spices. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. What a unique and weird beer, thanks to all those spices and pumpkin. The aroma could have been stronger, but very other aspect is good.
3.0 Pours a deep dark brown with a healthy off white head which lingers......aroma is nutmeg, allspice, and something I can’t identify, a bit different.......taste is wood, nutmeg, touch of wax, caramel, toasted malt.
3.7 Bottle. Color: Clear dark copper. Lots of tiny bubbles. Frothy long lasting yellowish white head. Taste: Oily, spices (cinnamon, cloves), medium sweet, lightly bitter, earthy. Pumpkin taste is not overwhelming luckily. Long lasting lightly bitter and spicy (cloves) finish. Medium to full body and mouthfeel. Nice autumn / winter beer for once in a while.
3.3 Bottle 12 fl oz. Pours a clear copper with a medium yelowish white head and an aroma of syrup, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet malts and spices. The taste is sweet with lots of cinnamon in taste. Still a nice beer.
3.5 12 ounce CaN .. . Drank it his quickly, i did that .. . Squash, caramel .. . Stars and straw. . I could go for a hot dog .. . Clean stuff, not over spiced or sweet .. Solid .. . . Is that a pierogi?
3.5 Bottle. Pours dark amber, small head. Aroma of pumpkin spice, caramel and light roastiness. In taste sweet and spicy. Medium body, soft carbonation, bit oily. Finish is lightly bitter and spicy.
3.8 Kran. Aromat dyni, przyprawy, cynamon. W smak słodkie, cynamonowe, przyprawy.
3.3 Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is pumpkin, earthy, spice, caramel and nutmeg. Taste is sweet with spicy nutmeg. Medium bodied with a thicker mouth feel. I enjoyed that the pumpkin spice was not overpowering.
