Appalachian Hoppy Trails IPA

Appalachian Hoppy Trails IPA

This India Pale Ale is an exciting beer with a floral in aroma and an incredible hop flavor. The maltiness is increased (over a regular pale ale) to help balance the aggressive hop usage. This contributes to the higher alcohol content as well.

2.9 On tap at the Harrisburg brew pub. Pours a clear cream soda amber with a ring of white head. Nose has some lemon, soap, orange, malt. Flavor is malty, sweet, bubblegum, mild strawberry, lemon, orange. Crisp finish.
3.1 Draft in May 2014. Pour was orange with average head and splotchy lacing. Aroma of faint resin, some lighter fruits, floral. Flavor was floral, earthy, herbal, some lighter fruits, light caramel backbone. Mouthfeel was average for the style in body and carbonation. Mediocre.
3.2 Draft at Camp Hill brewpub. Pours a clear gold color with a 1/2" white head that disappears leaving a thin film. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine and resin with a hint of malt. Medium body, taste leans more to the hop side than the malt but not overwhelming. Dry finish. Not great, but I've had worse.
3.5 Transfer from BA review on 9-23-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a clear golden-orange color with a huge white head. The head fades rather slowly as it is quite thick and leaves a nice level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell - The aroma is heaviest of a biscuit and pine nature. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter notes of a citrus and earthy nature. Taste – The taste begins with a biscuit and bready base with a nice dose of citrus hop flavor. Initially it is also sweetened with some lighter fruit flavors up front. As the taste advances it dries out some with more hop flavors come to the tongue. At the end, some heavier notes (but not too heavy) of a pine and earthy hop flavor come to the tongue, leaving a slightly bitter flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side; decent creaminess with a light chewiness. The carbonation is on the average side as well. Fairly nice for the hop flavors but maintaining a good drinkability. Overall – A decent IPA with some nice pine flavors.
3.8 Ok ipa. Very hoppy and quite a bit of floral notes. Pour is a nice light amber with thin head.
3.4 15 June 2014, bottle. Light or age, clear, some bubbles. Nose is dry malt, some tea leaves. Thin body and fizzy. Granola malt with line rind bitterness. Meh.
3.5 Hazed amber appearance with an average size off white head and spotty lacing. Subtle aroma paired floral hops with toasted malts. Pairings are fairly balance in the flavor as well but lean towards the hops, especially in the dry, bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish.
3.3 Bottle to tumbler. Pours cloudy amber, quickly fading head, a little lacing. Aroma is herbal, grassy and spruce. Taste is slightly sweet, bitterness is very earthy, English hops stand out. Medium body, low carbonation, a little juicy. Finish is herbal/earthy bitter. Seems like an English style IPA. Not bad.
3.7 Nice easy drinking English IPA, but a little limp on all fronts. Still worth getting a pint.
2.5 Small white head with fair retention and spotty lacing. cloudy, orange/gold hued brew. Nose is slightly fruity with some berry notes and musty malts. Body is almost medium, sprightly carbonation, light astringency. Musty malt flavors along with some over ripe pineapple notes that end up in a fairly dry, too long finish. Erf. Bottle from statelineliquors.
3.3 Ok label, standard US longneck. Light honey gold, hazy, thin white head. Nice, sweetish-nutty aroma with tinges of implied coconut. Grassy at times, moderately bitter with some lemon pith. Generally pretty crisp, the body has a certain starch to it. Thanks to LuckyDoog.
3.7 A smooth IPA with a slight fruitiness. Definitely one I could drink again..
4.7 Love it! One of my favorite IPAs yet. There is a slight fruity taste to it (IMO). It doesn’t hurt that their food is delicious!
3.0 Reviewed from notes. Consumed 11/17/12, Serving from brewpub, Lititz location. The appearance had a slight amber to yellow body with a thin white head that died after a good fifteen seconds. Some really light lacing was left. The smell had some piney hops up front with the typical earthy malts backing up a normal English IPA as it should be. The taste was basically the same adding a bit of biscuity fullness to the finish and adding a nice sweet aftertaste to it. The palate was about a medium with a dry feel on my tongue, and a nice sessionability to it. Overall, this is good for its style and for me, but nothing that is spectacular.
3.3 Draft at the brewpub in Gettysburg. Pours hazy copper with a thin, fizzy white head and lots of lacing. Tastes malty and hoppy, dry feel. Grapefruit and pine flavor. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like musk, grapefruit, and sweet caramel.
3.1 Tap at Gettysburg brewpub. Pours clear gold with fizzy white head. Aroma is floral hops, cereal and biscuit malts, citrus fruit, and light toast. Flavor is heavy hop bitterness almost to the point of astringency, light malt and grapefruit esters buried underneath; dry throughout with a lingering bitterness. Medium body and low carbonation.
3.1 Hazy orange body, medium white head, soapy lacing. Floral citrus and mild grass, sweet biscuity malts. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, lingering sweetness in the finish. Pleasant, but simple.
3.3 Thanksgiving day lunchtime warm up, bottle split at Christine and Daves thanks to DLJ, 28/11/13. Slightly obscured golden amber with a moderate off white covering that retains. Nose is caramel malt, bitter hop resonance, light trace of chlorine, bitter orange, grass. Taste comprises oange pith, caramel malt forward, lemon peel, touch of grpaefruit and pine resin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grassy bitternss in the finale. Ok IPA - drinkable but not earth shattering.
3.4 Poured a hazy copper, with a thin, white head. Aroma is faint citrus and grass. Taste is mostly grass, with a little bit of lemon rind. Very drinkable IPA.
3.8 A: Golden Straw Hue, Passes All Light, Thin White Head, Great Lacing S: Floral, German Malts, Hybiscus T: Floral, German Malts M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Semi Drying, Semi Bitter Overall, a nice IPA with some good english malt backbone.
3.2 12oz bottle. Pours an amber color with an inch of white foamy head. Smells of citrusy hops with a tad of pine scent. Taste has a decent malt backbone with a mild piney bitterness, along with some grapefruit and citrus. Moderately carbonated with a light body.
3.5 On tap at brew pub near hotel. Darker golden nice white head. Nice aroma pine and malt. Nice body very drinkable. Hops are there but balanced well with the malt. Best part about this is its free because no liquor license yet so 2 free with a meal.
3.3 Pours from the growler an orange tea hue with a wispy head that fully diminishes. Floral nose. Nice bitters throughout, with tannins and biscuit flour and pale malt accents. Lingering crisp biscuit flour and back-palate bitters to finish. Medium body that drinks smoothly with semi-active carbonation. Decent, yet middle-of-the-road in the complexity department. Nice 4th of July offering.
3.1 Bottle. Floral-fruity pink grapefruit and biscuity caramel malt aroma. Hazy honey gold with a moderate off-white head. Biscuity caramel malt and weedy herbal hops flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.
3.4 Solid, straightforward IPA. A nice blend of citrus and floral in the hop aroma and flavor, with a slightly sweet malt component. I bit a soapy taste comes through, but that is a byproduct of IPAs sometimes.
3.0 Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma has ligt citrus and tea. Flavor has mild citrus and earthy notes...fairly bitter. Mouthfeel is light and the finish is resinous/earthy/piney and dry. A bit boring.
3.5 My favorite of the beers in the ABC sampler. More east coast than west, but still a decent IPA. Good amber/orange color, pleasant pine hop aroma, and a nice sweet-then-bitter finish.
3.3 Clear orange with a thin white head. Grapefruit aroma. Crisp bright fresh no balance
4.0 Bottle. Light amber, slightly cloudy color. Mild hop bitterness on palate yet smooth flavor. Mild initial aroma
3.3 Draft at the gettysburg location. Clear golden amber pour, with a white head. Citrusy, lightly fruity, sweetness, caramel malt, and light bitterness. Decent beer, but the body is too thin. Still one of their better offerings.
