Arcadia Anglers Ale

Arcadia Anglers Ale

This strikingly authentic English-style pale ale is brewed with all English malts and a pound and a half of Pacific Northwest hops per barrel. It is medium-bodied, crisp, and well-balanced with a flavor profile featuring subtle notes of caramel, toffee and toasted malt, counterbalanced by the ideal level of hop bitterness. The delicate herbal hop finish is produced by Goldings whole leaf hops.

1.9 Odd gusher. Super over-carbonated, heavy english ale yeast and herbal hops.
3.3 Sample at the brewpub on 3/29/13. Clear gold to amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, soft fruit and some hop. Malty and dank flavor with an earthy finish.
3.7 Served on-tap in a 20oz glass at Buffalo Wild Wings. $4.75 during their Happy Hour. Not bad. Appearance: Not bad at all. Has a typical pale ale color with a nice two/three finger head. Lacing lasts until the end of the glass. Above average. Smell: Average. Smells like a pale ale with a nice, slightly spicy note with the malts and hops. Pleasant. Taste/feel: I was expecting a rating of about 84 for this beer, but was surprised at the 76. This is my first beer from Arcadia, and I like it a lot. Being a pale ale, it’s not the most exciting beer in the world, but it’s insanely drinkable, has a very nice mouth feel, and the finish is clean. A refreshing English Pale Ale that I’d love to have again. One of the best that I’ve had of the style. Seems that I’m the minority, as a lot of people don’t care for it that much. Maybe I got a fresh keg? I dig it.
4.1 I am not a fan of Pale Ales, but I am a fan of this one. It has just enough bite to be pleasurable, but not something that will rot your tongue.
2.6 I’ve yet to be impressed by a beer I’ve had from this company. Next to nothing going on in the nose, with little to make up for it in texture or taste. Clean and delightfully bitter despite the lack of interesting features otherwise. A suitable beer to offer someone who doesn’t know or really care what they’re drinking.
3.2 An ok pale ale. As a hopped beer, this falls somewhere between what you’d expect from an American and an English pale ale. The hop choice is nice, subtle, and rich. Nice caramel backing. Lacks a defining characteristic that would elevate this above its competition.
2.8 Pours a mostly clear pale orange color with very little head. Aroma is almost all pale malt with a touch of caramel and grassy hops. Taste is fairly bland. Grassy and light caramel malt. Finish is short. Not much going on here but drinkable.
2.8 Pale malt and a bit of bread with some light floral hops in the background. Light medium body and some bitterness.
2.8 Bottle bought near Detroit. A fluffy off white head leaves sticky powdery lacing. Some rusty solids at the final pour. The beer is clear golden. Not a very exciting aroma. It is mostly pale malts and hops are scarce. First sip does bring out some hops. They are a bit herbal and floral. Bitterness is gentle but grows throughout and there is some astringency. This is not a top shelf Pale.
3.4 Copper color with a small head, though not much lacing to it. This is a decent ale, but i was expecting more (but it is well balanced).
2.8 Bottle to pint. Looks decent; copper with thin lacing. Smells a little bitter. Tastes way too European for a SW MI pale ale. Nowhere enough hops or body. Mouthfeel is average at best (thin). One of my least favorite ABC brews.
3.2 Great hoppy aroma but the flavors are only average. Very floral, caramel, and citrus peels.
3.0 Ok for a pale, expecting more from this brewer though. Moving on to others.
2.5 Pours a copper with a frothy white head. Faint aroma of citrus. Taste has a lot yeast in it. Some citrus is detected as well. I feel the aftertaste was a bit bitter and doesn’t really agree with me. Dull.
3.0 Slight aroma of sweet grains, just the barest hint of hops. Pours clear amber, with a full thick white head. A bit of sweet malts starts off, with hints of light fruits, and just a touch of hops. It’s a fairly well balanced beer. -Fish!
2.9 Bottle. Big, soap-sudsy, persistent head. Not bad, but nothing to make it stand out.
2.7 A copper color ale and in the English Pale tradition much more of the malt taste comes through than does the hops. A slightly bitter taste with a touch of citrus and one "off" flavor I can’t quite put my finger on, it may actually lie in the Goldings. Does not finish overly crisp and over all a very average pale.
3.5 Bottle. Clear brownish orange with a fluffy white head. Nice brassy citrus hops aroma and taste with some molasses notes and mild caramel and a slightly astringent earthy finish.
3.1 Bottle- Pours a deep golden, almost bronze color with a huge head that fades slowly to ample lacing. Aroma of pine, bit of nut and herbs. Not much else. Taste starts with a crisp bite up front with some malt sweetness and a bit of herbs. A nice bitterness and the finish is quite dry. Fairly medium body, crisp and quite refreshing. More carbonated than most English Pale Ales.Decent beer, quite enjoyable. Most English Pale Ales are a bit more laid back than this one. Will have to visit this fishing hole again sometime.
2.7 1. Look – A deep gold color ale with a large white head. 2. Sniff – It has a citrusy aroma. 3. Sip – This medium bodied ale is has an orange flavor and an odd vanilla taste. There is almost a sour finish. 4. Another Look – This is ale looks good with its long lasting head and good lacing. 5. Evaluate – Overall, this pale ale is not good. It has a variety of undesirable flavors and tastes. I would not recommend this pale ale to anyone.
3.6 Bottle. Aroma has notes of flowers, herbs, caramel and pine. Very large white frothy head that left good lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is medium bodied and watery soft. Overall a nice easy drinking Pale Ale.
3.3 Smooth drinking, with tastes of citrus, yeast and grain. Overall a decent pale ale.
2.9 draft... murky dark gold, a bit of amber... light nose, a bit of yeast, with a touch of caramel, not a ton going on... tastes super light but surprisingly refreshing, citrus with a touch too much yeast again, much better than from the bottle
3.1 Green apple aroma comes out in the spicy ringwood. Pale, English. Nice enough, a bit weak. Color of honey-yellow. Tons of tiny bubbles. Glassy and clear. Not much head. Flavor is a decent citrus hop (grapefruit and blood orange). Other than the hop, not much. Nice, very yeasty. Fizzy and a little chunky on the palate. A solid, English style pale. Pleasant, if underwhelming.
2.6 (bottle 6/21/10). Dark copper color, with light cloudiness. Large off white head. Light sweet fruity green apple/acetaldehyde aroma. Same flavor, with burnt malt character. Avg duration. Lasting burnt malt and fruitiness in the finish. Slick texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.
2.7 An orange colored beer with a large loose beige head. The aroma is malty and grassy, like a fruity lager. The flavor is thin and a little bitter, with citrus being most prevalent. Just not a solid brew.
2.4 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy burnt orange. Aroma of dust, citrus, pine. Very low aroma. Flavor of citrus, leaves, spice, dried fruit, plastic. Not horrible, but really not that great. Sampling one is plenty.
3.2 12oz bottle. Slightly hazy copper orange. Toasty aroma, some buttery hops. Relatively true to style, drinkable, with an odd fishy seawater taste. Straightforward, probably a little faded with age. Herbal, non tangy lemon-lime flavors. Medium bodied. Unremarkable beer.
3.0 I’ve been an angler for years...and I have caught many fine beers in my time. This one, I was tempted to throw back. After harpooning a Blatz (the white whale of beers) it will wreck you for the little fry like this. If you are trolling on a hot summers day, and you pick one of these little carp up, go ahead and keep it (even if it’s not legal), but set your hook for a man’s beer: BLATZ....you’ll thank me in the morning, and these little annoying guppies will be less bothersome.
2.9 12 ounce bottle. Pours a copper amber with a nice fluffy biege head. Aroma of florals, malt and grain. Taste is on the sweet side. Nice balance of malt and hops. Nice.
