Arcadia Hop Rocket

Arcadia Hop Rocket

This Imperial IPA has an assertive aroma of sticky, resinous Summit hops. A complex flavor profile includes notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, and spruce. Though the flavor focus is on hops, a trio of malts provides a balance to the beer, creating a delicious level of palatability. Hints of caramel, toffee, and freshly-baked biscuits are also apparent in the flavor profile.

1.9 Horribly unbalanced honey and caramel. Terrible harsh aftertaste of rotten booze.
2.9 bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Slightly hazy medium amber, thin rim head, no lace. A very still Ale. Nice aroma of malt and hops. Taste is flat malt that turns into hops, but has no life (maybe this one is kaput). Add to that the strong alcohol presence, and this moves to my "not recommended" file. Maybe some other time...
1.7 355ml bottle. Cost a buck but looks like this is older.Boozy alcoholic hop perfume in the smell. Flavor is oxidized, some fruit notes, booze. Wonder how old htis is.
3.3 Bottle. Nose is rind, strong orange peel and paper, also this great candyish character that I don’t find that often. Pour a deep but bright orange, still transparent with almost no carbonation, sudsy off-white head. Extremely oily medium body with strong alcohol heat and feel but not many fumes; medium bitterness just enough to match the medium-strong sweetness, but not cloying. Papery scratch in with light resin and a general sugary feel, herbal and forest character late-arriving with faint spice. Caramel weak, but simple malt is nice, if hidden under the booze. A sipper, for sure, but a nice one off the beaten path.
3.5 Strong, bitter hoppiness up front through the finish. Hints of citrus and some earthiness. Not very floral, but well rounded.
2.3 Pours a light gold color with a quickly dissipating white foam head. Aroma is hops and citrus, slight but still good. Flavor is very disappointing. Citrus hops are slight at the head, but the body and finish are dominated by an overly sweet syrupy taste. There is a very light amount of bitterness as well. It is different than a lot of other DIPAs I’ve had, just not in a good way.
3.8 A nice happy aroma of citrus and pine, taste of sweet fruit and citrus, very drinkable dipa, nice
3.5 Clear brew with a orange colour. Hops, resin and citrus on the aroma but I also get a certain yeasty note that I don’t enjoy. Resinous, some sweetness and a full body make this a decent brew but I find something off about this one.
3.6 Poured into shaker glass a orangey amber. Cloudy with no head, a white film. The smallest of lacing. Aroma was not the citrus blast I was expecting. It was there but I got more pine and floral. It reminded me of being in Jersey’s pine barrens on a early erik day. Taste was pine resins, malts and some citrus. Citrus grew in finish. A small amount of alcohol at the tail end but not much, seems balanced. Lighter to medium body, slick. Nice effort and enjoyed.
3.9 12oz bottle - pours an orangey/gold with thin white head . Mild pine and juicy citrus aromas . Taste is grapefruit meets tangerine . Mild bitterness . One of the better offerings I've had from Arcadia .
3.4 On draft at Dan’s on February 14. The pour is a nice gold-ish amber with a nice white film of head. The lace is pretty decent as well. The aroma is big on citrus and hops. It then fades almost to a sweet, hop-induced funk. The flavor doesn’t do the aroma justice. It starts off sweet, too sweet. It then moves through a brief citrusy hoppiness that’s rather good, but fades quickly to an overly-bitter finish. There is a strong grassy note on the bitterness at the end as well. The mouth feel is pretty decent, but the aftertaste lingers and lingers. Were it better, it would be welcome, but this one doesn’t taste as great as you would like. As such, it’s solid on the palate. I just wish it tasted better.
3.4 bottle. Deep golden with small head. Medium malt body. Light pepperiness. Big hops, both citrus and piney. Quite a bit of booze to this, especially as it warms.
2.3 This beer has a bad aftertaste of alcohol. The aftertaste is similar to gin or vodka. I paid $13 for a 4 pack that says hop rocket on the bottle. I barely tasted any hops. Poor effort in my professional opinion.
4.2 A really unique ipa with a hopps I have never tasted. Really fruity and very strong alcohol contact. Really refesjing and smells hoppy
2.1 Bottle: Dark amber-orange hybrid with a quickly dispersing, white head. The beer looks quite thick on the pour. Aroma is very hoppy, full of citrus, pine, with a light white pepper-esque finish. The first sip is very sharp, warm, and spicy. Almost like peppercorns thrown on top of heavy, dank, hot hop resins. Rubbing alcohol flavor as the beer warms. Some sweeter malts in the end with just a little bit of citrus... But you’re left with a scraping bitterness. Thick, gritty body. Very harsh and not good at concealing the alcohol. Not really my thing, here.
3.7 Pours a deep amber, almost orange. Fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops out front, followed by pine and some floral. Very balanced for an IPA. Taste follows the nose with a lingering sweet citrus floral finish. We?ll rounded, and not overpowering. Good imperial IPA.
3.9 Very nice IPA. Murky golden with a tight small head. Citrus/ pine on the nose. Very crisp going down. This would be greatly satisfying on a hot day.
3.7 Bottle pour yellowish copper. Nose floral and tropical fruit hop with a hint of malt. Taste grassy herbal hop bitterness p front. Mid palate sweetness. Finish with bitterness and some burn from the alcohol.
3.6 Pours a hazy straw golden color with 1 finger head that lingers leaving heavy lacing. Somewhat sweet with moderate bitterness. Toasted malt, resinous hops, hint of caramel. Full body, softer, creamy carbonation which is a little different for the IPA body. Pretty well balanced. Long, smooth but bitter finish. This is a good imperial IPA. Unique
4.5 Thick with malt sweetness well balanced with hops. Bright orange color hints at brighter citrus expression.
2.2 Inconsistent hazy orange with white head. Aroma is pine, citrus and alcohol. Taste is Bitter citrus with unpleasant alcohol in the back. I don’t really like this beer.
3.2 I had the chance to sample a bottle of last year’s, plus a bottle of this year’s in the same day, so I’m obligated to comment. This is an interesting IIPA. It’ll smack you around a bit-- it does earn it’s extra "I" and the alcohol is significant in the taste. Very appealing color-- last year’s was notably cloudier and oranger than this years, but still a very nice looking beer. Clear aroma with just a hint of hops and alcohol. The taste is very complex, and I’ve always noted a lot of variation between bottles. . . at least in terms of perception. Still really good though for a dose of true hopness. You do wish the alcohol was a bit more subtle (seriously, you’d guess it was north of 10-12%), but it’s worth it to chew on all the piney, resiny, skunky goodness. I especially like the way it is at the same time sharp, citrusy, piney, sweet, floral and fruity (apple, mostly), without any of these notes overpowering the others. Good stuff. If it were a bit more refined it might be "great". . . but it also might not be as unique.
3.0 Bottle. Golden orange pour with tan head. Aroma is lightly hopped with not much of anything. Alcohol come through with some citrus hops, some light malt balancing tones.
3.9 Bottle. Pours a light orange with a slight white head. Citrusy aroma. Taste is bitter grapefruit up front, followed by some citrus, balanced out with some caramel maltiness. Good stuff, would certainly drink again.
3.3 Aroma is hard core pine, cleaning solution and assertive citrus rind, not peel but rind. The flavor can easily be duplicated by venturing into your local lovable cedar and pine forest, cutting into your basic free standing live tree and licking it. This is aggressively piney and cedarish enough to be medicinal. Great weight to the beer but it unfortunately leaves the beer on your tongue for quite a while. Interesting and certainly an experience but it kind of feels like a failed pliny clone homebrew to me. Thank you Arcadia. 2013 12oz.
3.1 a lot of resin. skunky resin. warming and a bit harsh with rubbing alcohol. fruit y esters like fruit punch. pine hop and citrus with a strong malt component. funky taste. powerful.
3.8 Clear light golden color with a small white head. aroma is piney and grapefruit. flavor is piney resins with some honey and a slihtly funky note gentle bitter aftertaste. medium palate warming and tasty.
3.3 Light brown to orange pour that was mostly clear. Small amount of white head. Strong orange and lemon citrus hops aroma, wow. Subtle and well blended taste between malt and hop bill. Strong grapefruit that’s bitter and sweet. Soft carbonation, a little dry finish and oily mouthfeel. I remember this beer being better and look forward to trying it again.
3.2 Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/28/13, as Arcadia Hop Rocket Imperial India Pale Ale Aroma: The aroma is an odd mix of pine and grapefruit hops with some musky cologne Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange color with a small, bubbly white head and medium lace Flavor: Tastes muddled, there’s a nice hop bitterness, but the it becomes off toward the end palate Palate: The body is medium, with average carbonation, and a fairly dry finish on the mouth Overall Impression: It has a solid hop feel, but there’s just something off about this one, and it comes from what I can best describe as a musky cologne. That’s not a perfect description, but it’s the closest thing I can think of. It really is just weird, musky and earthy component that makes the whole beer feel a little muddled and off. Everything else was solid, but that part was hard to get past.
3.6 12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy hops and a good amount of caramel and toasted malts. Flavor the same, with the hops sort of tame. Average texture. A decent beer but not the best of its style.
