Arrogant Who You Callin' Wussie

Northern German Style Pilsner

For far too long the tyrannical industrialized beer overlords have disgraced and cheapened the noble heritage of the pilsner with their relentless multi-generational downward drive to commercialized homogenization. Over decades, this once vaulted style has been slowly and methodically gutted, bringing forth a soulless and anemic result, all the while spending billions in advertising to convince the unwitting public that their fizzy yellow end result was beer. Well, I will not have it. We are striking back for true craft by stealing the pilsner back from their evil clutches, and restoring it to its almighty glory. They do it cheaply. We do it right. Choose vapidity, or choose righteousness...but whatever you do, choose wisely.

3.8 1pt canned 03/17, bb03/18, Geers - maybe give Northern German Style Pilsner a 6m bb, Stone CA? - Bref: creamy near-dry IPL with extra hopoil merits that does a good job of marketing itself as a Northern german Pilsner, so far off the mark. - Creamy, ale-ish bodacious pour with fine dense mousse. Aroma of sweet lime balm, exotic citrus leaf perfume, cereal quark. Creamy, yet not slick, dryish Session ale mouthfeel carrying a load of hop oils, more leafy like half a Thai cuisine than grassy-German in any way. A joy to drink. - The marketing superstructure and name are indeed the least likeable about this accomplished hoppy lager.
3.4 Pours golden, a little hazy, with a medium white head. The aroma is very grassy, containing cereal, spices, grain, hay, and a touch of lemon. The is sweet up front before it quickly recedes. Easy bitterness. A brainy base gives way to strong bread and cereal, floral and grassy hops, corn, and lemon. Very similar to the nose in fact. Short floral aftertaste. Light in body and slick in texture. For a style that I'm not very fond of, this one is pretty good.
3.6 7/22/2016 -- from notes: 16oz can from Dutch's. Canned 6/16/16. Nice toasty, crackery bready malt. Good peppery german style hop, mild bit of grassy. Moderate bitter taste, lighter sweet. Clear golden color. Frothy white head leaving good frothy lace. Medium body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Mild dry finish. Pretty satisfying pils. Hoppy but not in a weird way, it works.
3.3 14th November 2017 Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus for the can. Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, sweetish. Light bready notes. A little spice and orange peel. Some floralness in the semi dry finish. Tidy but for me should be crisper.
3.3 Pale straw colour. White head. The aroma is quite bright and grassy. Has a bit of pepper and some clean sort of zestiness. There's a little floral/spicy quality that is set over a fairly clean malt base.
3.5 can - Clear yellow pour, aroma of grainy malt, hops, some fruity character. The flavor has crisp hops bitterness along with grainy, biscuity malt, and light citrus. Light to medium bodied. Like many, I regarded Stone's production of a fizzy yellow beer with some horror, but this is a good pils.
3.0 14Nov2017 Intense grain and cereal malts, sawdust, yeast, bread, hay. Clear gold, tiny, creamy, white head. Light bitter. More grain and cereal malts, straw, bitter grass, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Alright. Can shared at Level 42 - thanks to mr_fr0g!
3.5 Can @5/27/17. Bright yellow body with white foam. Nice peppery, salty, spicy, dry bread aromas. Medium bodied. Dusty bready malt flavors with a spicy, peppercorn twang--crisp finish__good
3.4 Can shared on Level 42, 14/11/2017. From Berlin depot. A very clear golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting rocky white head. ARoma is semi sweet, earthy cereal, low leafy hop. Flavour is composed of dry earthy cereal, leaft hop, wort, grassy. Palate is crisp, dry, grainy, moderate carbonation.
2.7 November 2017 - Can share at One Canada Square. Big thanks to Fergus. As 'Arrogant Who You Callin' Wussie'. Pale golden, clear and still, foamy off-white head leaves dotted lacing. Aroma is mixed grains, biscuits, little buttery. Body is light and frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is watery, salted rusk, little bubblegum, faint malts, dusty finish. Not getting fireworks off this I'm afraid. I don't think it's significantly better than macro stuff. (4-4-5-3-11=2.7)
3.2 Draught @ Fool's Gold. Clear golden with large foamy white head, faint malt aroma, high carbonation, mildly bitter slightly yeasty taste, thin body, medium finish. Quite nice, though a bit different from a premium Pilsner.
2.7 Can at L42 – thanks to Fergus. It pours clear pale yellow with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, sweet, corny, hay, cereal and cornbread. The taste is crisp, dry, dull bitterness, cornbread, straw, cereal, grass, a bit pithy, zesty and soapy. Finish has some raw alcohol vibes about it. Light body and fine carbonation. Pretty so-so.
3.4 Can shared in London - thanks to Fergus. Pours clear yellow-gold with a small, creamy white head. Pithy citrus in the nose, peach, lemon peel, crackers. Light to medium sweet flavour with more crackery pale malts, pine needles, citrus peel. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with with low bitterness, dried pale malts, more pithy and rindy citrus, a hint of alcohol. Not bad.
4.4 473 ml (16 oz) can bought at YATA in YoHo Mall, Yuen Long. Looks:Clear light golden honey colour; Explosive four finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation. Aroma: Very Fragrant Pils malt which can be smelt a foot away, with strong pineapples, jackfruits, passion fruits, very nice strong honey, floral, sugar, spices, light herbs, fluffy bread, lemon and grass. West Coast delight! Taste: Medium sweet Pils malt, with strong honey, grapefruits, light grains, strong floral, malt sugar, spices, strong herbs, biscuits, lemon, mid to strong bitter hops and strong grass. Refreshing! Body: Mid to light body. Slick and crisp palate. Mouth Feel: Pretty solid Pils maltyness in a slightly thinned but slick background. Very fresh grassy citrusy hops dominates with grapefruits, strong herbs and spices. Very flowery with nice strong sweetness. Biscuity with strong lemon to round. Very exciting! Hoppiness: Strong pineapples, jackfruits, passion fruits, strong honey, floral, spices, light herbs, lemon and grass in nose. Grapefruits, honey, strong floral, spices, strong herbs, lemon and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is quite strong but dynamic and intermittent for a lasting, close to high astringent sweet-bitter honey malty finish. After Taste: Quite dry; Herbal grassy citrusy and nice bitter to mouth. Comments: I alway thought a well-made fusion Pilsener with West Coast hops is always exciting. This is one of such fine example - strong tropical aroma and nice sweet herbal honey taste - all done with a fluffy flair so the Pils isn't too heavy but instead it has a naughty, pixie feel to it! An absolute stunner and highly recommended!
3.5 Couleur dorée; mousse blanche; arômes et goût maltés, d'herbes et un peu fruités; finale légèrement amère
3.5 50cl Can @ 2D2Dspuma Tienda, Barcelona, Spain. Golden colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is malt, grain, slightly hoppy. Taste is malt, sweet, citrus, slightly hoppy and herbal. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.2 Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Grainy and lightly sweet base, some straw, low bitterness, and a relatively dry finish. Solid.
3.8 Can. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Pale gold. Very light haze. Lots of fine, fast rising bubbles. Decent cap of white foam. Nose has nicely balanced, sweet biscuit grain, and fruity, melon like hop. Maybe some pine notes. Some ripe citrus. Taste has the same nice balance of sweet, and fruity bitterness. Clean palate. Sharp, burp inducing carbonation. Long, light bitterness to finish. Nice one.
3.8 Medium sized white head with very good retention, spotty lacing. Lightly hazy gold appearance. Nose of B.O, spicy , grassy hops and grain. Body is medium with good carbo and clean feel on the palate. Grainy malts, dry, bready. Hops are green, light grass and hay with some berry, lightly fruity notes as well. Dry, malty finish with the hop bitterness being more than expected and welcomed!. Actually, nicely done. Little bit uh guts here. 16oz cans from statelineliquors.
3.4 Geez Stone talk a lotta shit on their labels! Anyway quite good - firm, tight, light licorice bitterness to finish. Powerful interpretation and a smart one as it is clear the beer is pilsner and the core character is preserved. (220 baht Central Festival)
4.0 pint can, canned 16/03/2017, BB 16/03/2018.
3.3 Can. Moderate grain for the malt, light herbs for the hops, faint dough for the yeast, with hint of cooked vegetable and paper. Head is average size, frothy, white with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy light amber. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, with a soft to lively carbonation and has a dry finish. Pretty good Pilsener, but I was a little surprised by the haziness in the color.
4.1 Lager lupulada de perfil herbal. Sabrosa con final ligeramente amargo y duradero. Muy buena. LATA. Canned 18/03/2017 BB 18/03/2018
3.4 500 ml can. Pours with a clear golden color and a nice white head. The nose is herbal, hay and grass with citric notes. Slightly malty. Bitter-hoppy taste with hints of hay. Hints of resin. I like the finish.
3.5 Bottle, Brewklopedia, Leicester. Golden with a white foam. Nutty grain with lemon. Spritzy yeast with bonfire smokiness. Grassy with pithy bitterness. Very good pilsner.
3.2 Pretty herbal aroma with notes of young beer (green apple) and some earthy touch. Cloudy golden in the glass, frothy head. Taste is dry with punch of herbal hoppiness, some notes of earthiness, malty back. Aggressive, tough and astringent, but the point has been reached. That’s a blast... but not for everyone.
3.2 Golden with a white head - Malt aroma - Malt body with some hop bitterness to balance - Malt with some hop bitterness goes into the finish - This was nice
3.9 20/VII/17 - 1Pt can from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home - BB: III/16/18, canned: III/16/17 (2017-1059) Clear blond beer, big irregular white head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. 2.8 Tap at Beer Hunters, Pori (Stone Wussie Pils). Slightly hazy yellow colour, medium-sized white head. Hsyish, candy fruity aroma. Medium-bodied. Sweetish malty front, hay, some fruityness. Feels a bit like an ale. Average.
3.0 Can shared with Adamnowek, Erwin and tderoeck. Many thanks, Tim! Hazy yellow colour, typical german Pils taste but with tropical fruitiness. Easy drinkable. Ok.
