3.8 Decent brew. Hints of tropical fruit. Not a lot of bitterness and a bit sour, but overall a great IPA.
3.8 Floral, hoppy aroma. Pours golden orange/brown with a frothy white head. Taste is bitter but decent for a double IPA.
3.3 Bottle. Pours clear orange with a decent size off white head that sticks around due to the amount of carbontation. Citrus and malt aroma. Fair amount of hop bitterness to give this brew the double IPA name. Alcohol level is well hidden by the malt and hops. Excellent balance.
3.1 1/05/2011: Ass Kisser Double IPA... Aroma: Smells like a freshly peeled clementine or tangerine. Appearance: Murky darker amber color; thick, lasting off-white head. Flavor: Thick, soapy, muted citrus; weird maltiness; numbing herbal bitterness; lots of grass or alfalfa. Palate: Medium; smooth. Overall: I think I’ll pass on a second glass... 1 pt. fl. oz. bottle (9% ALC/VOL) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #246 for this beer.
3.8 Good hoppiness. Pours a nice cloudy amber from bomber. Good hop smell, but there is a sense of over ripe eggplant. Resinous, sticky head that remains as a ring.
3.5 Appearance was hazy orangish gold with whitish lasting creamy 2 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are citrus fruits, crystal, pale malts, smell very inviting. Taste upfronts are sweet malt backbone, just the right amount. Hops tangerine, orange, lemon, grapefruit then hints of pine with no alcohol present. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with medium body, lasting medinical bite is not a balanced finish. The bottle may have oxygenation, need to try another.
3.8 Pours ruby-tinted amber with a large, lasting head. Heavy malt on the nose along with piny resinous hops. Very malty aroma. Very malty flavours too, clean sweet malt throughout. Also piny and minty hops with a bit of resinous bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is a little aggressive.
2.9 Poured from bomber into snifter. Dirty, cloudy redish orange with little to no head. Alcohol taste right up front and remains the whole time. Underneath that is a citrusy hop with a malty aftertaste. Not bad, but doubt I'll buy again.
3.3 Golden orange body, white head. Aroma has cookie dough, yeast, alcohol, herbal hops. Flavour has lots of cookie dough, slicky caramelly malt. Dark fruits, pear, apricot, yeast.
2.6 Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Cloudy amber. Tangerine, diluted grapefruit juice and citrus oil aroma, tastes violently unpleasing bitter, medium body and long, bitter finish. Unbalanced and unpleasing.
2.9 Pours hazy orange with a finger of off-white head. Decent hoppy aroma. Unfortunately the flavor doesn’t live up. Call me unsophisticated, but I likes my IPAs (especially doubles) to be big, bright, and in-my-face. Frankly this is a bit too mellow. Overall, an apathetic "meh".
3.3 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold with a thick, 2 finger head that leaves gobs of lace. Aroma is dominated by malts and yeast with hops being secondary. Flavor is to the sweet side. Bready and the hop profile is tropical fruits. There is some astringent bitterness on the finish. Heavy bodied.
3.2 From a bottle shared at home. Pours a hazy pale with a thick off white head. Grassy Grassy hop nose and flavor. Bitter finish.
3.4 Creamy honey gold with white head. Fruity aroma, a bit smoky. Bitter fruit, a bit tropical. Not bad.
3.0 Big tight head over somewhat hazy light copper body. Aroma of spices and chili, some citrus, some malt. Taste of upfront bitterness, black pepper in the beginning, some citrus, some malt but not much sweetness. Palate is bitter and peppery.
3.3 12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours Cloudy deep amber with a beige head that leaves tons of lacing. Earthy hoppy nose (citrus/pine). Well balanced beer hops and caramel malts mixed together, citrus notes and a nice bitter finish; perhaps a bit tame for a double IPA, but overall a very nice and quite enjoyable beer.
3.0 Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Cloudy dark orange to amber color with an off-white head. Aroma has alcohol, piney hops, somewhat resinous, slightly stale, a bit of fruitiness and some caramelly and slightly honey-ish malt. Flavor of sweetish malt, a bit caramelly, light grainy notes, and a bitter finish with hops, slightly stale, and light alcoholic notes. OK, but that’s it.
3.5 BBOTMC, Pours an amazing orange with a nice head, aroma of tangerine, marmalade, peach and some green tones, flavor of lemon, lemon skin, mango skin, lots of bitterness, not very sweet, medium bodied, nice
3.8 Pours a extremely cloudy orange copper color. Nice lacing and long-lasting off-white creamy head. Decent pine hop aroma. Nice balance of caramel maltiness with a hop bitterness. Seems like there will be a big bitter aftertaste and then the flavor just ends.
3.7 12oz bottle poured into a wine glass. Clear amber color with a small white head. Strong hoppy nose, with bitter citrus, pine and earth. Caramel malt flavor, marmalade, high bitterness and juicy resiny-fruity hop flavors. Full bodied, long extremely bitter finish, satisfying and awesome.
3.8 12 ounce bottle poured a cloudy orange color huge aromas of pine, citrus, light caramel, and some light malt. flavors wer big citrus, light resin, and some malt, must have been a fresh bottle, the best beer that I had from this brewery.
3.0 12oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a few fingers of creamy head. Aroma is very malty, with some citrus and earthy hops present. Taste is grainy, malty, citrus, and grass.
4.7 This was a delightful beer with a lot of floral aroma. Nice bitter hoppy flavor. My wife is pregnant and on bed rest so I have not enjoyed a great microbrew in awhile.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma was slightly hoppy with citrus, pine, floral and had grassy notes. Flavor was piney resin, grass, citrus, bread and was quite bitter
3.8 Decent double IPA. Initial pleasant aroma and taste but gets old quickly. Little too sweet for my taste. Name is a strange, not sure why anyone would call their beers this. Still, I would try some of there other offerings.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a moderate white head. Nose is hoppy with a lot of pine in there. Taste is relatively well balanced without a lot of bitterness. Not bad.
3.5 Respectable double IPA. Enjoyed in a merlot glass, which I think enhanced aroma and flavor. Hoppy, of course, and bordering on barley wine, but malts and caramel underneath. A bit high priced at $2.99 per bottle, in my opinion, when I can get similar quality for a bit less. Was good to try though.
3.6 A nice, doughy/fruity, hoppy AIPA aroma with some boozy notes. Foggy, apricot brew with a fluffy, insulation batting head. Standard US longneck, OK-to-bad label (slick plastic.) A boozy barleywine game going on in the flavor profile - staunch malting, sturdy hops, tends to the sweeter side with hops more towards the end. Buttery tones. Medium heavy body. Lasting citrus pith finish with a lot of bittereness on the sides of the tongue, a cakey (vanilla, sweet, pastry) final bow. ABC, Bull Run.
2.1 Well...I pretty much knew it when I bought it (based on label and name alone that this wasn’t going to be any good). But hey I can’t knock it until I have tried it. Pours a hazy deep orange with a bubbly off white head that left some sticky lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, tea, cardboard, yeast and hints of citrus hop notes. Flavor was malty sweet, tea, caramel, coardboard, aggressive hop bitterness, grapefruit juice...lingering bitterness that just doesn’t sit well on the tongue.
2.9 355 ml bottle. (State Line Liquors) Elkton, MD. Hazy amber colour with a small white head. Sugary and toffee sweet malty aroma with some notes of alcohol and hops. The flavour is very sweet sugary malty with some resiny hops and moderate bitterness. Thinnish. Not very tasty DIPA.
