4.0 Got this for 3.99 for a 4pack at ABC in Florida. Pours a dark ruby red. Has a chocolate smell. And a chocolate smokey taste. I’d buy this again.
4.0 Pours a dark ruby red with a creamy off white head. The aroma was of smoke malt with notes of coffee and chocolate. The flavor was of smoked malt with some coffee notes to it. The body was full with a somewhat chalky aftertaste but not in a bad way. Overall a very good beer.
3.8 Pours a dark brown. No head. Lots of smoke aroma and some sweet malts. Taste of smoke and carmelly malts. Finishes sweet and medium bodied.
4.0 330ml bottle from Archive. Thin black colour with a skinny low head. Aroma is okay without being great however the flavour is packed full of some and chocolate. Very good.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a small tan head some lacing. Roasted chocolate aromas. Very little smoke aroma or flavor(which is good for me). Finishes with residual coffee and chocolate. Some light fruity esters. Overall a good beer..
3.9 Pour a dark reddish brown, like cola. Starts with a smoky flavor...then goes to hops and leaves you with a dark chocolate taste...drinks smoothe...good beer.
3.8 Pours a nearly clear mahogany with a short tan head. The nose is of dark chocolate, coffee, and dark roasty malt with a light, sweet smoke note. Medium-bodied and slick with fine carbonation and a mildly roasty and bitter finish. The flavor is of coffee, dark roasted malt, and bitter chocolate. The finish has a bit of a piny hop note. This is a pretty tasty beer.
3.5 From a 22 oz bottle shared with Ryan. Pours a clear dark cola. Aroma of chocolate. Smoky flavor with subtle coffee notes and roasted grain. Smooth mouthfeel with a slightly bitter hop finish.
3.4 1pt 6fl oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Dark brown with a small tan cap. Aroma is toasted malt, slight chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, wood, nut. Decent but nothing to write home about.
3.7 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, smoke and mild roastiness. The taste is smoke, roasted malts, chocolate, a bit of coffee, mild hops. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice beer.
4.1 Dark nice pour with tan head. Aroma is malty, smokey. Taste is of sweet smoked coffee.
3.5 12 ounce bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and smoke. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, and smoke. Nice.
3.7 Pours dark brown with a nice, slowly rising head. Lots of smoke and some smoked/cured meats in the aroma. Smoke more subtle in the taste, but what’s there is pleasant, supporting the dark malt and smooth coffee flavour. Subtle bitterness and mild but suitable carbonation. Really nice smoked porter, the best from Ass Kisser.
(Rating #4978)
2.5 Pours black with a fading head. Nose shows sweet malt with roasted overtones and hints of chocolate. Somewhat subtle. Sweet flavours too, almost baltic porter-like but without the roast to support it. Cloying. Body feels a little watery.
3.8 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with no bottling or expiration date. The pour is a nice looking dark brown with vaguely reddish hues and a long-lasting beige head. Nice smoked malty aroma worth a higher grade. Also a subtle sweet maltiness. The body is creamy and in the medium range. The smokiness is not quite as predominant in the taste but it is most definitively there. There was an easy to drink sweetness too. Ass-Kicker seems a bit harsh but overall it was delightful.
3.3 Draft. Pours dark brown with amber edges med khaki head. Smell is smoke, charred malts, hint of caramel sweetness. Taste is immediately charred malts/burnt coffee, then minor sweetness creeps in, followed by a good dose of bitterness that rides out with the smokiness. This one is not great, but still enjoyable due to the bitterness.
3.9 This beer required a second tasting. Something about the first one was incredibly off, though I may have ruined my palate prior to the tasting. Smoke is mild, but definitely offers the majority of the character. A bit acidic with a light tobacco taste at the end.
3.3 In short: A run-of-the-mill slightly smoky black ale, a drinkable beer without much personality. How: Bottle 22oz, consumed two months after purchase. The look: Near black body topped by a small tan head. In long: Nose has a light campfire smoke character with notes of vanilla and some tobacco. The smoke presence is rather subdued for considering it is called a Smoked Porter. Body weight in mouth and it helped by a generous carbonation. Taste is charred malts, black liquorice, some tar, molasses, dark fruits (plums, others), light wood smoke presence. Easy to drink for its style and size. I can’t find anything wrong with this brew but the whole thing just didn’t excite me, a lack of character that is hard to put into words, a very drinkable medium size black ale that gets lots in the crowd. So I disappoint myself because I am an ass kisser to earn money and then I use that money to buy an Ass Kisser that disappoints me, I think I just won the irony olympic.
3.9 clasica porter malta tostada fruta seca y algo de cafe,al paladar se nota un ligero ahumado que se siente en el after taste con lupulo moderado y poco carbonatada,el grado de alchool de 8 se percibe poco,me gusto bastante
3.4 Pours dark brown with minimal tan head. Roasty mocha aroma with a strong dose of smokiness. Rich chocolate malt flavor with just the right amount of smoke. Could have used a bit more carbonation, but it’s a minor point. I’m typically not a fan of smoky brews, but I found this one pleasing.
3.3 Bottle; Color: Poured dark brown with an off white head. Aroma: Chocolate/Rich. Flavor: I was expecting a chocolate flavor, however all I tasted was smoke. Strong and intense flavor overpowered by smoke taste, if this was 1/3 less smoke, it might have let those additional chocolate malt flavors shine.
3.8 There is a strong cola bouquet with this porter, it’s more towards the birch beer spectrum. There is plenty of meatiness in the nose as well. The initial flavor is sweet, but there is plenty of bitterness on the sides and in the finish. The palate is solid, but there is some unexpected fizziness. Otherwise it looks and plays the part of a smoked porter very successfully.
3.6 Definite smoked taste, no sharpness like other 8%’s. A beer to savour not smash down.
4.3 Smokey, smooth, rich, coffee, mocha, does not taste like a 8 percent. Great pair with specie food.
3.6 My Bottom Line: Vanilla, black licorice and wooden smoke lead to roasted malt bitterness in this personable Imperial Smoked Porter. Further Personal Perceptions: -A creamy head of foam covers the clear dark brown. -This doesn’t taste like 8% at all. -The mouthfeel is on the lean side for this type of brew. -Smoke mostly appears in the finish and aftertaste. -A subtle fruitiness is reminiscent of black cherries. Bottle.
3.8 Bottle from Total Wine in Claymont. Pours cola style with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is more smoked than porter with a big campfire scent followed by light coffee. The taste has a nice coffee flavor, some chocolate, and then a nice hickory smoke on top.. the smoke lasts a bit longer in duration than the other flavors. I approve this guy.
3.5 12 ounce bottle poured a dark brown color with aromas of smoke, light chocolate, and some light roast. Flavors are the same, light smokiness in the aftertaste, decent smoked porter overall.
3.8 12oz bottle, shared by Lindsey. Mostly clear dark brown color. Thin khaki off-white head. Good spread of lace. Bigger body. Smooth light carbonation, light crispness, more dry texture. Nice smoke, more smokey than Stone Smoked Porter, for example. Light coffee, light dark chocolate. Nice bittersweet taste. Surprisingly good. One of the better smoked porters I’ve had
3.7 Pours a dark black color with no head. Nose is smokey with peat and a combo of vanilla and light chocolate. Taste is malty and smokey as well with a hints of coffee and chocolate. Finish is dry and short. Descent ! Quaff Score 8 / 10
