A light fruit ale, made with Maine wild blueberries. As opposed to many of the sweeter fruit beers on the market, our addition of fresh Maine wild blueberries in this light ale yields a subtle blueberry aroma, without the sweet aftertaste.
A mixture of the following Mutton malts, pale, crystal, and Munich, are combined with wheat to give this ale its lighter body, and we only use minimal amounts of Target and Willamette hops.

2.912oz bottle from Kenny Rd Market. Murky amber pour with dirty white head. Aroma of blueberry muffin. Tastes of weak blueberry, grain, yeasty, lightly acidic.
3.3Light golden pour with thin white head. Aroma is a little yeast and some blueberry. Taste is crisp and dry, again with some blueberry. As the brewer states, this is not loaded with extra flavors, so the mild blueberry flavor is to be expected. Nice and refreshing, but overall a little bland all-around
2.912oz bottle from Wine Academy Hazlet. Poured a rusty bronze with a smaller white head that quickly fades. Aroma is metallic, like a rusty nickle, along with some light bad blue berry notes, soap, old pancake batter, acetone. Body is thinner to medium but with softer carbonation and a metallic aftertaste that lingers. Flavor of metal bottle caps, toast, bad bread, old blueberry muffin mix, old blue berries. Meh this is pretty bad.
3.2Bottle at home (from notes). Pours a clear amber brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel malts, blueberries that are stronger on the nose than the flavor, a hint of citrus and light bitterness. Lighter bodied beer, decent for summer.
2.5Bottle at home. Pours clear copper with a medium, foamy off-white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is light blueberries, light toast and biscuit malt. Flavor is blueberries, light biscuit malt and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
3.5Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a slightly hazy amber colored body and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. The head lasted longer than I thought.
The smell had some blueberries and light malt.
The taste was blueberries with a toasted malty flavoring
On the palate, it sat about a light to medium, sessionable, toasty yet sweet aftertaste, slightly bitter finish.
Overall, this is good for the style and me, I’d probably have it again.
3.2Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of blueberries (big surprise there) and light malts. Flavor of blueberries (duh) with some malts and light bitterness in the finish. Pretty good for a fruit beer.
2.9Bottle:
Pours bubbly, caramel-amber with a thick, beige head.
Dusty blueberry and wheat scent.
Taste is sweet, blueberry, bread, wheat malt.
Not a big fan of blueberry, but this one’s not bad.
Subtle....not overblown.
3.0Bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours orange gold with off white head. Nose and taste of faux blueberry, light spicy yeast, sugar cone and cotton candy. Lighter medium body.
2.9Draft at beer fest. Pours clear orange with a small white head. The aroma has blueberry muffin. The taste is light blueberry, semi sweet. Not bad for a fruit.
3.1Another blueberry ale in maine. Not as good as Bar Harbor in my opinion. Aroma is nice sweet blueberries but it could use some tartness to balance the perfumey sweet fruit.
3.2Draft at Alla Spina. Pours a cloudy amber with minimal head or lace. Nose of caramel, stale wood, blueberry. Thin body, forgettable
3.112oz bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thin off white head. Aroma of toasted malt and blueberries. Taste of blueberry cobbler, with light hop bitterness.
2.6Nice blueberry and hop aroma. Hint of copper (possibly vat related?) in aroma. Appealing amber color, likely picking up a nice red hue from blueberries. Fruity, berry flavor and hoppy aftertaste. Carbonation is overpowering when cold but relaxes after warming slightly.
2.9Bottle as a guest in family home. Pours a mostly clear amber-yellow with a white head. Nose is some light blueberry flesh with mild bread and some sweetness. Flavor is similar with blueberry, sweetness, sweet bread. Light in body and nice overall.
3.2On tap @ Top Hops. Well, it doesn’t look like a blueberry beer this, it’s light blurry and almost wood-caramel in color with a really nice big and lasting just off-white lacing top. The nose has not a good amount of blueberries to be honest. Soft caramel, a little bit of grains and wild flowers with heather and traces if frozen strawberries. Not extreme, fair. A bit more blueberries in the taste. It’s on the sweet side yeah, and as mentioned the blueberries shines more through here. Lots of thin caramel, some soapy traces and a little bit of malty sweetness. Absolutely drinkable, actually I could most likely drink blots of this, but it’s not a fantastic tasty or flavorful beer. 14.06.2013
3.1Bottle from a sixer purchased at Vicker’s Liquors and opened on the fourth of July, this year. Clear amber to copper pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of fresh blueberries, crystal malt and grassy hops. Malty and slightly buttery flavor with ample fresh blueberry character before a semi-dry finish.
2.4On tap at Water Street Tavern. Pours a cloudy brown with little head. There is a bit of a fruity aroma. Fruit beers are not my thing but thought I’d give it a try. The blueberry doesn’t really come through. It blends with the malt to bring a soapy flavor. Finishes bitter but one is all I every need of this one.
3.5Very pleasant, but not very beerlike, blueberry/raspberry aroma. Flavor is sweet and fruity but not as over the top as some other fruit beers I’ve tried. Long finish with a little spice. Definitely worth trying if you’re into fruit beer.
1.818.06.2013, tap @ Whole Foods Market NY:
Small shortlasting head. Aroma is fruity, artificial dark berries, hay, caramel, sugar, grass, cardboard. Taste is dry, artificial dark berries, hay, harsh grass, berry skin, wood. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Why do they even make this crap?!
3.5Initially, blueberry aroma is quite present, but it quickly goes away leaving mostly malt on the nose. Color is mostly amber with a hint of red from the blueberry. Fairly minimal head and light lacing. Medium malt taste with very little fruit. There is a bit of tartness at the finish near the back of the tongue. Overall this beer is refreshing, especially on this warm evening, but if you are going to make a fruit beer, the fruit should be more apparent.
3.0Copper pour with a thin white head that doesn’t leave much lacing. The aroma is dominated by the blueberries but not over the top. The flavor has the blueberries throughout but they are subtle and nothing else is really gong on with this beer. It’s a slightly odd which doesn’t make it all that drinkable. Not really my style!
3.1Orange with a white head. Aroma is heavy on the blueberries with some toffee. Flavor is blueberry, toffee and some light cinnamon. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
2.9Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a small, off-white head. Aroma of moderately sweet malts and light blueberries. Somewhat sweet malt backbone with light blueberry flavors. A little bland but easy drinking.
2.5Bottle from Lizardville Rocky River. Clear pale amber pour with a small white head. Mild, not too sweet, blueberry on the aroma and taste. Thinner palate.
3.012oz Bottle. Appearance is amber color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is subdued with fruit, blueberries, and wheat. Taste is similar with blueberries right up front with nice beer malts backing it up with flavors of orange and wheat. Palate is medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a mod finish.
3.8This is one of the few blueberry beers out there that sort of tastes like beer. Even the color looks the part. A deep amber color with very little to no head. The smell is nearly exact to the taste. Strong fruity and blueberry aromas let you know exactly what you are getting into. With most fruity or hybrid beers, the distinctive taste seems to always be towards the end. Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale though skips all the foreplay and jumps right at you with the blueberry flavor with a subtle aftertaste of a mild ale.
3.322oz bomber bottle, purchased from Liquor Locker, Southwest Harbor (I think), consumed in April 2010. Amber colour. Relatively restrained blueberry aroma. Also quite subtle on the palate. Dry and fairly tart. Not one of those synthetic, sweet, fruit bombs that fruit beers can be. All the better for that.
