Atlantic Bar Harbor Real Ale

Atlantic Bar Harbor Real Ale

A good, clean nutbrown ale with a malty body. This is our most popular ale due to its smooth and malty flavor.

We use a mixture of pale, crystal and black malts in this one, and our primary hop is Target, though we also add some Whitbread Goldings Variation as well.

The Real Ale is best fresh, so fresh in fact, that it's great right out of the bright tank.

3.2 Light & drinkable brown. Has a decent palate but lacking in flavor. Quite mellow & malty. Ok.
3.6 The aroma is nut with a touch of sweet caramel. Highly active off white head that starts enormous and is reluctant to come down. The body is rich but clear mahogany. Mild nut and spice taste. Malt character is smooth and clean to finish.
3.5 nice malty, slight chocolate aroma. brown in color with a nice head. rich malty flavors of roasted and caramel malts. smooth finish
2.8 Pours a massive, unstoppable heap of dense off-white foam. Underneath there is some brown liquid, but I can’t quite reach it. Trying harder, i get to the rather bland nutty and metallic flavor - like my first attempt at home-brewing a brown ale so many years ago. Big fan of their coal porter, but this is not quality.
2.7 The body looks like coke, but with a huge tan head of foam that lasts a long time. Aromas are pleasant chocolate, bread and vanilla, but with some unwelcome rubbing alcohol. For all its promising beginnings it’s actually pretty disappointing. Really not much here except a little sweet malt and a little bitter herb. Thin and watery body is also a let down. I guess if you get one of these just pour it, look at it, smell it, then walk away?
2.9 ナッツブラウン 飲みやすい、悪くない
1.9 Bottle. Nose is sweet with a little earthen dust and a goodly amount of roast and slighter chocolate, airy. Pours deep red with a rather large and fizzy tan head. Taste is very sweet, very airy and fizzy without being crisp; light acidity but seemingly not infected, more in line with coffee-type acidity and the present roast. Malt and hops are hidden under the overcarbonation, waiting only allows more booze to come out.
2.9 Good middle of the road beer. Pours deep brown, no head. Slight nut aroma, smooth and easy drinking.
3.6 draft, I liked this one. didnt expect it to be great, Good hop flavors and bitter roasty finish saves this brown ale. caramel sweetness and some roast in the middle. Nice stuff.
2.8 Draft pours dark brown with thin white head that dissipates. Nut brown aroma over light carbonation. Nice brown ale flavor. Smooth nut flavor
3.5 12 oz bottle. Pours dark red with tall, long-lasting, fluffy beige head. Aroma is of bready malt, grassy hops and dark fruit. Body is medium and crisp. Grassy hops, bready malt, brown sugar and red fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and sweet. Too sweet for me.
3.2 Bottle at home from notes. Pours a clear amber brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, earthy notes, a hint of chocolate, the nose is a bit better than the flavor as the flavor gets soft mid-palate to the finish.
3.2 Bottle at Bar Harbor, ME - Pours deep town with thin white head. Aromas are chocolate, hazelnut and toffee. Bitter-nutty finish.
3.5 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Best By 06/07/14. Handsome looking mahogany brown pour with decent clarity even through its opaqueness. Off-white head that fades. The aroma is malty, sweet, and nutty like a good brown ale should be. The body is light to medium. The taste is malt forward with a mild bitterness at the end. A nicely done brown ale.
3.0 pours a dark redish brown with tan head thats slow to dissipate. very smooth sweet nutty flavor, enjoyable after taste. pretty solid beer, not a huge fan of brown ales but this was no disapointment.
3.1 Bottle. Dark brown with no head. Aroma of roasted malts. Very light body with roasted malt and light coffee notes. A little watered down for my tastes.
2.8 FROM NOTES: July 10, ’12 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass. A: Light toasted aroma. A bit sour. A: Pours a clear, brown with a two-finger, off-white head that diminished somewhat quickly. The lacing was fair. T: Light sweetness and bitterness. Little flavor. The finish was about average. P: Light body with minimal carbonation, was almost flat and watery. O: I will have to try this beer again, as I suspect I got a bad bottle. What little taste there was, was not good.
3.6 12oz bottle. Amber brown body, looks filtered. Foamy, fading beige head. Pleasant caramel, light chocolate aroma. Smooth chocolate amber nut brown beer. Medium bodied, fresh and sessionable. Balanced by a nice crisp hop tone, but the finish is luscious, deep malt. Solid offering.
3.2 Boring brown is pretty boring. Light malty and sweet with very mild hoppiness. Not bad but again its unremarkable.
3.1 12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a thin foamy tan head. Not much aroma. A little roasted malt and some nuttiness. Taste of roasted malt, hazelnut, and dank earthy hops.
3.3 On draft at Bunker's Wharf, Winter Harbor. Pours dark brown with substantial 2 finger creamy head and great lacing... Smells of bread and yeast. Roasted nuts and caramel notes... Not bad...
3.2 Bottle. Bought in Bar Harbor and enjoyed at the Eastland, in Lubec. Deep brown colour with very thin head. Taste is chocolate, toffee. Pretty decent brown ale.
3.4 On tap in the brewery’s tasting room. Pours a clear brown with a thin white to beige head. Nutty malt, toast. Easy drinking, toasty, soft malt. Dries out into a soft bitterness.
3.4 Poured as a taster at the brewery. Nice brown ale with a bit of caramel on the palate. Finishes smooth and if quite drinkable. A good session ale and bound to be good with brewpub-style food.
3.3 Bottle at home. Pours clear brown with a medium, frothy light tan head, medium-short retention with good lacing. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, and lightly toasted malt, earthy hops and figs. Flavor is malt dominant with light to medium hops and bitterness, a pleasant chocolate note and a dry finish. Medium-light body and medium carbonation.
3.4 Enjoyed on tap at Reel Cinema in Bar Harbor, ME while watching the new Star Trek. Appearance dark coffee brown with very thin off white head. Aroma not really of anything, maybe light toffee. Taste is smooth and easy drinking, nice English ale flavor. Overall, enjoyable brew.
2.7 12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark brown with tons of tan head, lots of lacing and nice carbonation. Aroma of nuts, roasted malts and caramel. When it comes to taste it actually feels a bit to watery, caramel sweetness and malts. It’s an OK beer but not great.
3.3 Medium brown and clear with a thin beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, roasted nuts, hint of coffee. Roasty flavor but very thin. Hop presence is late but pretty strong when it hits.
3.0 Bottle at Luke's lobster. Brown nutty amber taste. Malty and easy drinking. Good beer
2.9 Bottle from spence as an extra... Cool beans. Pours reddish brown with a thin cream colored head with good retention. Nose of burnt sugar and nut. Taste is astringent with notes of caramel, toffee. Body is a bit thin.
