3.533cl can. Pours amber gold, with fine white foam. Aroma is delicate herbaceous and resinous. Body is a little thin, with moderate carbonation. Taste is medium bitter. Final is average.
3.6Ar: citrus, malt Ap: golden, creamy head T: hoppy, med bitterness P: long finish
3.6Keg at Sunset Cantina, Boston, MA on 26/03/2008. A really nice, zesty and bitter IPA, with grapefruit and pine notes.
3.5Golden pour, beautiful foamy off-white head. Aroma of floral esters, yeast, soap. Taste follows, floral and grassy, with hints of pine, caramel, and orange, but quite bitter. Great westcoast IPA!
3.4A good ipa on tap at the Denver airport. Pretty bitter and strong hops. Local brew
3.7A very drinkable IPA that brings the bitterness with basically all the fruit flavor bing more on the smell and not so much in the taste. It is dry but really smooth and easy to drink.
4.1hazy golden to orange colour, medium sized dense white head; aroma of lemon peel, grapefruit, orange peel, some peachy notes, slight troipcal fruity (overripe pineapple?), and some vegetable notes; taste is basically the same with intensive hoppy bitterness; good IPA!
2.6Can from Drinks of the World Zürich. No date on can so impossible to see how fresh. Dry, bitter, resinous but lighter than I would have imagined. Nice but not really amazing
3.1For the style, this really isn't that great of an IPA. Balanced off a bit...needs more hops or different malt/hop variety. Semi-clean feel...thinner maybe more like a West-Coast. Not getting much citrus in here. For Avery, I expected a little better. Bottle might have been old though, as I noticed this in a few of the 6-mixpack that I got from Winn-Dixie.
2.7Definite hops bite coming through but not a lot else going on. 75 characters can be waayyy too long sometimes.
3.4Can pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is yellow-orange with finger-width head, mild sparkle and lacing. Aroma is citrus, grains. Taste as aroma. Palate is light-to-medium with thin texture, finish as taste. Overall, not complex and a balance between hops and malts more like a pale ale. Very drinkable but not a standout.
3.4Aroma: herbs and pine.
Appearance: hazy golden color and white head.
Taste: medium pine bitterness, weak citrus notes, malty, slightly stalky.
Palate: medium body and medium carbonation.
Overall: an average IPA, that's all.
3.8At conference reception . Pours clear gold, big white head. Aroma is pine, citrus, soap. Taste is pine spruce grapefruit. Well crafted typical West coast IPA.
2.4Taste not as good as others
Nice bitterness.
Hoppy, but only average
Overall good, but not great
3.8From Jul 2007
Purchased as part of a mixed 6 Pack at Wilbur's in Ft Collins.
Pours from 12oz bottle a clear medium gold with a good head of foam that shrinks to a fine broken layer and it has some lacing.
The smell is strong on the citrus(grapefruit) and is quite inviting.
The taste is all hops up front. Lots of grapefruit with and some floral with a little grassy and in the background, I get a decent malty profile that helps give this IPA some balance. Very drinkable. I could easily see myself enjoying another bottle or 2. ;^)
The mouthfeel is nice and smooth and the carbo is medium. It's not an over the top type of IPA but it's a solid example of the style and it would be a regular of mine if it was available locally. Good stuff.
3.7Very hoppy nose is quite refreshing. Dark yellow in color with a nice white head that hangs on the glass. Not really a lot of hip taste but definitely some bitterness bite. Beer store owner was discounting the variety pack because it has been on the shelf awhile. He said the IPA lost some of its flavor. To me the mellowness makes it more enjoyable for a non hop lover
3.7Light yellow colour with nice head on top which leaves beautiful lacing to the sides of the glass. Aroma has citrus fruits, grapefruit and lemon, floral notes too. Taste is bitter with grapefruit and citrus hops, slight sweetness tries to come through but is washed away by the grapefruit. Ends with dry bitter hop punch, lingers for a good while. Medium body and medium carbonation.
3.7Dégustée au Mondial de la Bière de Montréal 2008 (De mes notes papiers). .
3.5Semi-hazy orange pour with a thin off-white head. Very old - 9 months at least. Notes of caramel, perfumey hops, overripe passion fruit, floral hops, citrus. Not too bitter, quite perfumey and caramel-forward, probably due to the age. I might need to revisit this beer.
3.7From tap @ ADT. Clear golden orange with a frothy white head. Citrus and hops aromas. Flavors are typical IPA, grapefruit, orange rind, bitter hops, caramel hops. Medium bodied with a lingering, refreshing bitter finish. Not too heavy. Quality IPA as I’d expect from Avery.
3.5Pours hazy gold from the bottle. The frothy white head lingers. Aroma is dough like, citrus, caramel. Taste is moderately bitter with fruity notes at the finish. Body is full, spongy, thick for the style. Good.
4.2B. Pours a clear golden color with white head. Well balanced and full of flavor. Citrus aroma
3.7Golden color. Nice head. Medium carbonation. Fruit citrus aroma, some floral notes, a nice fruity character, almost beligian. Nice maltiness. Sweet and hoppy, but ultimately balanced. Has a spicy, floral, and citrus finish. The hoppiness stays for a while, very floral. Good IPA. I like mine with a bit more malt.
3.7Haven’t had this for quite some time. Pours pale(ish) dark yellow with some head. Aroma is tropical and citrus fruit, quite a lot of pine, herbal and earthy. Lots of obvious west coast USA hops. Medium body. Taste is hoppy and rather bitter, but not as stuffed with hops as newer American IPAs. Actually nicely balanced with the malt base. Very nice beer, just not too exciting tbh. Hoppy-herbal finish is moderately long and nice. Good as an everyday IPA.
3.4Half-pint at Tameals in Shinagawa station. Rocky short-lived head on amber-gold. Grapefruit, peaches, whiff of caramel. Medium body. Crisp finish.
3.7355ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Citrusy, grassy and floral hoppy aroma, notes of lemongrass, lemon zest, a touch of lime. Taste is citrusy hoppy with grassy and floral addenda, notes of lemon, lemon peel, a herbal-spicy touch of lemon balm, all surrounded by the subtle sweetness of the decent, but inconspicuous, biscuity, pale malty support. A clean and refreshing kind of "lemon one-man show".
3.7355ml Dose. Orangefarben mit leichter Trübung und großer Schaumkrone. Fruchtig-süßliches Aroma. Süffig. Feinherb im Antrunk. Voller Körper.
2.2A fine IPA, it cannot be denied. Piney taste, sort of like Deschutes’s Pine IPA with the new held-in taste technology that makes it fresher. Avery has a whole line of IPA’s, so I thought this would be pretty excellent. A slighter mastery of the style here, very soft high quality freshness and suds. With fruity juiciness on top. Also a fan of the label, green like hops. Could become a go-to.
3.8Can. Cloudy bright golden burnt yellow with an average white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is full of citrus and pine. Tropical and grainy notes as well. Taste is juicy citrus and pine up front. Grapefruit, mango, and oranges. Mild tropical sweetness finishes with dry pine resin. Average thickness. Good beer.
