4.2Tap at brewery during RMBT. Cloudy rust orange with white head. Very boozy and spice nose. High warming alcohol in taste, rich pumpkin spice, smooth . Big beer in flavor and power. Impressive.
3.9Flaska från SB. Bärnstrnsfärgad, klar utan skum. Stor doft med mycket pumpkinpie, med kanel, kandisocker, torkade päron, punchpralin, vitt portvin, gula russin, lite glöggstuk fast ändå hyfsat balanserat. Annorlunda och gott.
3.8355ml bottle. Copper with tiny head. Spicy ginger and clove, buttery rum, vanilla. Remarkable that this is near 17% because it doesn’t drink anything like it.
3.5355ml bottle from Systembolaget, vintage 2016. Hazy rusty copper color, brief head, no lacing. Spicy, sweet aroma, nutmeg, ginger bread, cinnamon, orange peel, bubblegum, honey, black tea and some hints of rum as it warms up. Full bodied for sure, sweet, silky and warming mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Sweet and spicy taste, dark honey, nutmeg, red apples, cinnamon and some kind of childhood bubblegum. Not picking up on the rum or oak in the taste. Overall quite interesting sipper, on the sweet side, still balanced, not especially complex, pleasantly warming with the alcohol well hidden.
3.9bottle purch in CO drank in TX. first aroma to me was Christmas spices not pupmpkin. sludgy dark pour. nice thick palate. taste is sweetness and sugar and spices (some pumpkin), sweetness and rum. it is sweet. 12 oz is right amount. glad I drank it - an experience.
4.1Taste: complex, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, sweet, warm rum bite. Sweet spiced pumpkin and rum nose. Copper hue, clear, refined sticky lace on glass. Full body. Boozy does kick your but at 17% ABV for this vintage.
4.2On tap at 4th Avenue Pub, Brooklyn. Pours hazy dark orange with small white head. Lots of pumpkin, spicy, caramel, some rum, malty. Sweet. Soft carbonation. Full bodied. Warming, no unpleasant alcohol. Very nice, fantastic for ABV. Extreme, but for sure the best pumpkin I've tried.
3.0Bottled 355ml (vintage 2016, Systembolaget)
Brownish colour, small off-white head. Aroma has strong "pumpkin" and allspice. Full-bodied. Very alcoholic and warming. Pumpkin, spices and rhum sweetness. Quite balanced but I am not a big fan of pumpkin (pumpkin pie spices) flavours. Slow sipper.
4.9We had this at the Bavarian lodge in Lisle Illinois in December 2017 this was a really nice pumpkin beer lots of spices a little bit sweet and I did not taste the alcohol at all
4.0Flaska Systembolaget. Brunorange kulör. Doft av mjuk pepparkaka, mörk rom, vanilj och fat. Smak kanel, vanilj, smörkola, romfat och pumpa. Söt med värmande spritighet
4.0Bottle. Pours a hazy copper orange with a dissipating head and aroma of fall spices and pumpkin. Taste is of warming alcohol, pumpkin pie, allspice, and tons of fall spices into the strong, warming finish.
4.0With Z, pours a dark rusty copper color with no head. Nose is sweet pumpkin and fall and autumn spices.....essentially a pumpkin pie nose. Taste is warming spicy alcohol with pumpkin, nutmeg , and allspice. Finish is again warming alcohol with pumpkin and assorted autumn and fall spices. A very true sipper ! Quaff Score 8 / 10. 8-3-8-4-17
4.0Flaska.
3.8October 2017 - Bottle share at CBC Islington. Big thanks to Kenny. As 'Avery Rumpkin', 15.9%. Purple-red, opaque, very small head. Aroma is pumpkin seeds, pumpkin and rum. As described, then. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is spiced rum, very pumpkin, rich pumpkin syrup for coffee, more black rum, nutmeg, also some notes of pineapple and celery in there. Very sweet. A crazy beer, but pretty fun. It won me over in the end but I can imagine some people hating it too. (7-4-8-4-15=3.8)
4.5A-. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with white head. Huge flavor and hides the 17.5% alcohol well. Subtle pumpkin flavor.
4.3355 ml. bottle purchased @ Systembolaget Hansa. Have been wanting to try this one forever, happy to have found it. 2016 Vintage. Bottled 16.08.2016. Shared at Himmeriget. Dark amber, little in the way of head. Nose is lovely thick caramel with some oxidation, pumpkin & pumpkin spice blends into it warming caramel, blended with pumpkin, syrup,… Tastes like a proper old barley wine with some oxidation, way less thick than you would expected, caramel, warming blends with pumpkin, clove, pumpkin spices is heavy but blends into the whole, rum whisky oxidation, warming didn’t feel 17.5 % ABV. Thinner than you would expect sugar, oily warming caramel oxidized syrup body. Works really well, really nice.
3.7Pours dark brown with light head that dissipates soon. Aroma immediately picks up pumpkin and rum. Taste is immediately fruity, with unmistakable pumpkin sweetness and nutmeg and cinnamon coming on shortly afterwards. Aftertaste is a combination of rum and fairly strong alcohol burn, as one would expect from this ABV, A very good beer to split with a friend or several.
4.0Intense pumpkin spices, cloves, nutmeg, caramel, molasses. Hazy gold, medium, creamy, beige head. Heavy sweet. More pumpkin spices, caramel, molasses, sweet oak, alcohol, soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding. Keg at GABF17, Denver.
3.8Bottle shared at CBC Islington 30/10/2017. Many thanks to Kenny for this one. A light hazed orange copper coloured pour witha fading halo of white head. Aroma is big solvent alcohol, pumpkin, mint, brown sugars, brown sugars. Flavour is brown sugar, maple, oxidised, mint, jammy fruits. Brown sugars. Palate is semi sweet, sticky , moderate carboantion.
4.1(355ml 2016 bottle, Batch 6, 17.5%, from Systembolaget) Pours a clear deep copper with a small off white head, no lace. Aroma of lightly burnt sugar, toffee, some candied pale fruits, pumpkin, light to moderate rum, nutmeg, cinnamon, wood, touches of booze. Flavour is sweet as expected for the ABV, big and not shy about spirit character. Big hit of dark caramel, butterscotch, rum, pumpkin, spices (nutmeg, some cinnamon, light tangy ginger), wood, rather intense overall. Pumpkin becomes more prominent in the middle, spices and rum build in the fairly sweet finish. Some drying booze heat for sure, but not nearly to the ABV level. Medium-full, oily, smooth, softly carbonated. Pumpkin is balanced, spices recall spiced rum as much as pumpkin pie, barrel's a good fit. Bold but not too brash, tasty for a pumpkin beer!
4.32017 Bottle at a Halloween party. Bright orange color with a bit of hazy head. Wow this one is excellent. I didn't think it was possible to beat Pumking at the pumpkin beer game but I believe Avery did it annnnd hid 18% alcohol in it Wow well done
4.4Bottle. Clear light orange color. Light head. Low carbonation. Big intense aroma. High wood notes, alcohol, pumpkin spice, pumpkin. Flavor is big pumpkin sweetness. Autumn spices, sweet notes, wood, alcohol. Warmth comes through. Rum spices as it warms.
3.9hazy orange brown pour. Fantastic sweet pumpkin and brown sugar aroma. Flavor also has plenty of rum and booze.
3.6Deep amber color, small beige head. Sweet and spicy aromas with caramel, alcohol, butterscotch, pumpkins, raisins and slight oranges. Very sweet taste with candy sugar, caramel, alcohol, toffee, vanilla, pumpkins, raisins and syrup. Insanely sweet. Pretty cool.
3.6Brandy-like nose with hints of spiced rum. Ruddy color, cloudy. Very sweet taste with a sugary dollop on your lips. Very nice sipping beer with a good pumpkin taste. Nice one.
3.5Rum, pumpkins, alcohol, heavy spices, butterscotch, dried prunes and raisins.
Dark hazy amber colour, no head.
Heavy alcohol, pumpkins, spices, lots of rum, brown sugar, caramel, very sweet, lightly tart, low bitterness.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, slick feel, sweet and warming finish.
Powerful, carries abv well, but one-dimensionally sweet.
3.835.5cl bottle. batch 6. 17.5% ABV.
dark cloudy orange color, small white head.. pumpkin, cinnamon, spices, raisins. overall very sweet. medium bitterness with medium carbonation. ~mild considering the alcohol volume, nicely brewed.
4.6My bottle has it at 16.9%. Only the fact that this is Avery and it's the season caused me to purchase this, as I don't much care for pumpkin beers. That said, this is great, the pumpkin is subtle but there. It's strong bit not overly sweet. So often, if I know a beer is a top 50, or higher, I find it overrated. Not here. Plain delicious.wotth the price too.
3.8Poured from 12 fl oz bottle (bottle 17 Aug 2016; ABV listed as 17.5%). Clear deep orangey brown with quickly dissipating off white head. Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, mild alcohol kick that is more sweet than boozy. Another dangerous beer from Avery with a deceptively high ABV.
