Avery Tweak

Avery Tweak

Re-named BA Meph Addict.

Our very own Parker, of the cartoon and cat loving variety, created this cult classic character back in our 17th season. Appearing in several episodes under another stage name that was deemed inappropriate, our executive producers and editors decided that a name change and further character development—a 4-month Hiatus in bourbon barrels—were necessary to satisfy our most ardent and demanding viewers.

4.5 35,5cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Fretin, France. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, sweet, toffee, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, oak. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.0 35.5 cl fles. Helder donker bruin van kleur, fijne romige bruine schuimkraag. De geur is whisky en chocolade. Smaak is erg zoet, whisky, koffie, vanille en chocolade. Vol lichaam, veel koolzuur.
4.4 When I told the close-by bottle shop to hold a bottle of Tweak for me, by the price I thought I was getting a bomber. Not so fast there, my friend, 12 oz bottle. Should be something significant then. This issue was born on September 14, 2018 and rated 14.7% abv. Lightly chilled, opened and poured into my fairly new Cowtown Brewing snifter, it arrives a dark cola colored liquid completed by a medium brown skim of foam. I take a sniff to get chocolate, malt, field and some woodiness, oak I assume. A drink now, well now, price determined. Pretty fine if not great. Chocolate of course, vanilla, raspberry, caramel, a strong alcohol presence and accompanying burn. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected but that is not the crux of the matter. I am appreciating this one.
4.5 Enjoyed at BTBF 2019. Dark brown color, tan head. Rich chocolate aroma, rich and coffee. Oak. Rich flavor, sweet, chocolate, wamth, oak and espresso. Nice!

4.6 Olor a café, espuma retención media, burbuja fina, equilibrada, sin sensación alcoholica Batch n° 4 - 2017
4.1 355 ml. bottle @ home, served in a teku glass, due date: unknown. Aroma: quite intense aromas of roasted coffee, roasted malts, black chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee beans, wood. Hints of bourbon. Appearance: very dark brown color, almost black with brown and quite creamy foam made of small bubbles. Low to medium head thickness with low to medium Brussels' lacing, medium retention. Too dark to know its haziness. Taste: medium to high sweetness, medium bitterness, low sourness. Flavors of roasted coffee, roasted coffee beans, roasted malts, black chocolate, black cofee, roasted malts, wood. Hints of bourbon, caramel, caramel fudge, black dried fruits (prunes), vanilla, coconut, molasses, soy sauce, and sweet alcohol. Very well balanced, the high malt charge is the perfect counterpart for the roasted flavors and the bitterness. Palate: medium body, oily to watery texture, medium carbonation, very long dry finish with medium bitterness, low to medium sweetness and low to medium acidity from the roasted malts and the same aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is noticeable in the aroma and flavor, and noticeable because some throat and mouth warming, but it doesn't seem to have the high ABV it really has. Very low astringency and low to medium acidity from the black malts. Overall: good looking, very pleasant aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, roasted malts, coffe beans, black coffee, black chocolate, cocoa, wood, bourbon. Nice mouthfeel. A lot of layers of flavors and complexity. I'm not a great fan of the beers with high ABV, but this one is outstanding. One of the best Stouts I've ever tasted, a real pleasure to sip slowly, enjoying each sip. The only way to improve this beer I could imagine will be making it with less ABV and less acidity from the black roasted malts.
4.1 Intens tones of syrup, toffee, chocolate, coffee and bourbon vanilla. What a beer!
4.2 Bottle at home. Pitch black creamy and stable, thick beige head. Intense and delicious nose with syrupy, toffee, chocolate, coffee, boozy bourbon, vanilla, fudge, toasted coconut notes. Taste is overly sweet and boozy...Linger is boozy sweet roasted malts. Good body, medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel.
4.7 (> malt, thick, amer-columbus-forte, café (ad) & sky discrets, back hot, corps superbe, fin > onctueux-dense, musclé-délicat)
4.2 Aroma is delightful... black licorice, granola, coffee. Color is black, opaque, with a thick tanned foam head that quickly dissappears. Taste is super sweet, and one can further appreciate the bourbon cask influence on this beer. Texture is sticky and oily, full body, soft carbonation. Just a rounded and solid example of the style.
4.0 Beer tasting @ fillepolo 20181130. Bottle from Systembolaget. Roasted malty with coffee and chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, caramely, medium to full body with an oily texture. The finish is roasted.
4.1 Beer tasting @ fillepolo 30/11-18. Bottle from Systembolaget. Roasted malty with coffe beans/grounds, chocolate, cacao, vanilla and wood, also sweet. Body is medium to full, the finish is roasted with chocolate and cacao, also warming alcohol.
4.1 Bottle from systembolaget. Pours a dark colour beer with a smal head. Roasted malt with notes of coffee beans, chocolate, vanilla and wood. Dry finish
5.0 De Hopt. En copa Teku. Viendo Los 100 2x05-06. Asombrosa.
3.9 31st October 2018 Opaque dark brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Rich dark chocolate laden malts. Fairly strong coffee, slightly earthy. Smooth strong bourbon with plenty of accompanying dark fruits. Smooth dry finish brings a touch of spice. No real alcohol heat here. Goes down pretty easy for the hefty abv.
3.6 Hm, the beer is tasty with dark malt, black patent and dark ripe fruit raisins and a little molasses. Nose is like flavors. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden decent body nice drinking but nothing too remarkable.
3.6 Bottle sampled at SBWF Avery master class. No head and clear solid brown head. Big chocolate and some coffey aroma. Smooth chocolate sweet malty taste with caramell and balanced bitterness.
4.3 Bottle@1420, Copenhagen - (2014 vintage) Black pour with a creamy tan head. Sweet and roasted dark malty with some decadent chocolate and some caramel and toffee sweetness, smooth velvety mouthfeel and full bodied, dark malty bourbon infused finish. Gorgeous.
4.2 Draught at 1420. Pitch black colored with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel, chocolate and soy sauce. Roasted flavor of chocolate, soy sauce and caramel with notes of bourbon. Roasted finish.
4.1 Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak barrels, chocolate. Taste is sweet, chocolate, dried fruit. Rich and creamy body with soft carbonation. Complex and yet not.
4.4 I'll never know why my "secret spot" of a place had this in their cooler. I'm just happy that know enough to trust the Avery name and just go with it. What I got was one of the most heavy hitting coffee stouts I have ever encountered. Massive and delicious! 12oz bottle.
4.3 2014 bottle brought over and shared for my birthday. Wow tastes like a rich bourbon milkshake. Damn tasty, Definitely can taste the booze but not overpowering. Wow great beer
3.9 A black beer with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee. Taste is also roasted, caramel, molasses. Very alcoholic. A bit too much, could be more balanced
3.8 03.07.2018, 12 oz bottle (bottled 26.01.2016) @ home: Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, dark sugar, dark malts, mild bourbon, minerals, chocolate, oak, caramel, licorice, coffee, old rope. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish boozy, dark sugar, bourbon, oak, minerals, bark, dark malts, grass, coffee, toast, leather, booze, fruit stones, minerals, weeds, berry skin, chocolate pudding. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly sweet sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Nice.
4.1 Bottle 330ml at home. Bottled 2016-11-14. From Beergium. A black beer with beige head. Roasted malts, bourbon, chocolate, licorice, coffee, warming alcohol. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation.
4.1 Pours a pitch black coloration with a tiny, fizzy head. Smells of dark and lighter red fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, molasses, toffee and brown sugar. Taste is similarily complex, but a little too sweet and boozy, dominated by the sweeter and barrel-heavy notes of vanilla, bourbon, toffee, molasses and brown sugar, with lighter notes of dark and red fruits: date, raisin, cherry, dark chocolate, coffee and oak. Finishes quite sweet, with a very light bitterness and quite a boozy bourbon aftertaste. Thick, oily mouthfeel with quite a rich body and low carbonation. This somewhat reminds me of Rare BCBS, with its strong, heavy bourbon notes and high booziness, but seems somewhat more complex and better balanced, actually. Having said that, I would still prefer Mephistopheles over this, which has a lot more interesting flavour profile that just gets muddled up by the strong, boozy bourbon notes of this. I will also say that, given the HUGE 17.8% ABV of the 2014 batch, this is *relatively* impressively mellow, but still slighty over the top for my personal taste. At the end of the day, this just proves to me that BBA and added addjunks don't necessarily make things better. To me the subtle nuances of Mephistopheles get drowned out in a slightly to sweet and boozy brew here.
3.9 Bottle at Hopyard, february 22nd 2017. Dark black body with a tiny tanned head. Aroma of bourbon, ashes, licorice, booze, Taste is roasted with lots of dark chocolate, vanilla, oak. Big body with alasting coffee and alcohol finish. Enjoyable!
