B. Nektar Necromangocon

B. Nektar Necromangocon

Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Defend your soul or join us...

3.4 Tap at koht. Pours golden. Aroma is honey, floral, fruits. Flavor is sweet, sour, fruits, mango, chili, floral. Finish is sweet and sour. Body is on the thin side. Overall: ok.
3.9 Pale straw-yellow/white wine colour, low carbonation, fine bubbles that formed a thin head faded in few seconds. Aroma of strong mango flesh, which mostly covers the honey. Quite dry taste, honey and mango overall, with a thin winey body, very refreshing, with a finish the recalls a cold summer-ish white wine. Very nice indeed.
3.4 Draught at Brewskival, Sat Aug 26, 2017. Clear pale straw yellow color, small white head. Sweet, apple scent. Sweet, apple taste. Apple aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, sweet finish. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4
3.3 Bottle from World Market. Pours clear very pale gold with a little bit of fizzles. Aroma is mango, somewhat rotten, BO, very light honey. Flavor is sweet mango, honey, grass, black pepper (light - first couple sips I didn't get it).
3.6 Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear golden straw color with a no head. Light honey, grass and Honeycrisp apple nose.Mango comes out as it warms. Low carbonation, mango and faint apple skin, pink peppercorn and chili finish. Fun take on a mead.
3.3 500 ml bottle at the Koht/Moonshine Bar, Tallinn, Estonia. Thanks FatPhil! Sweet fruity and slightly herbal aroma with sugary sweetness. Sweetness is dominating this.
1.9 500ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn) (4:2:4:2:7=1.9) Smells like dirty laundry, or at least laundry detergent, clothes clearly worn by a hooker, plenty of cheap perfume here, probably a hooker that was murdered a decade ago, as it's quite mildewey. Sweet sugary fruity taste, mouldy. Flat slick palate. Pale. Finish just has a bit of peppery heat. Useless brew, and for 14e a fucking insult.
1.9 500ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Clear deep yellow color. No head. Honey, sweet, herbal, rosemary, burnt rubber in aroma. Sweet, herbal, menthol, rosemaryvand rubber in taste. Sweet and confusing aftertaste. Why? Nope!
3.6 On Draught Pours almost still with no head and a few tiny bubbles rising up the glass. The aroma is honey, mango, light pepper, and welp... Halloween vampire wax teeth, the great scourge of American Mead. The flavor keeps the wax fangs at bay while being very focused on honey & mango sweetness with a bit of subtle pepper to bring some balance to things. It's classic delicious b. nektar keeping their promises & holding no punches.
3.8 Tap at Brody’s. Very pale golden with no head. Sweet honey, white wine, mango and pepper. Big sweet, light bitter and some spiciness. Medium body and soft carbonation.
3.9 Pours clear golden with a white head. The aroma has mango, sweetness, spice and a brightness. The taste is bright, floral, honeysuckle filled and delightful. It’s very refreshing and has light sharpness. Delicious Mead.
4.4 14-05-17 // draft at Alus Celle, Riga. Clear golden mead, no head. I really dont know yet how do properly describe a mead, but this one was absolutely stunning. Loads of honey sweetness, some fruitiness, little spice. I need more.
4.1 B-. Pours a clear golden color with white head. Don’t really taste the mango or pepper, minus the slight burn of the pepper on the finish
3.9 Sampled at Brody’s. Clear watery light yellow, flat. Notes of honey, floral, light citrus, mango, papaya or some other tropical fruit, sweet raspberries and with a very soft pepper spiciness, barely perceptible at first. Very lightly carbonated. Damn good.
3.2 Rami Rami is drinking a Necromangocon by B. Nektar Meadery at Muzeum Azji i Pacyfiku Ufoludek, serek plesniowy z mango, leciusienki, nie zgadlbym, ze to miod, choc klimaty miodowe tez sa. Pieprz w posmakach. Zero alko.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours a clear very pale yellow/golden with no head. Flowery honey, light soap, mango, cider-like apple qualities. Bit of peppery kick in the taste that slowly builds up. This drinks almost like a sweet white wine or cider with the pepper adding a nice twist to the whole thing. Medium sweet, light bitter and pepper. Medium body, low carbonation.
3.0 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Extremely pale yellow colour, very moderate carbonation, small and shortlived white head.Aroma of honey, cider, mango and flowers. Ciderish mouthfeel, not overly sweet, notes of honey, apples, mango and black pepper. A nice but moderate pepper burn in the aftertaste. Not bad at all.
3.7 Bottle, 500 ml, courtesy of Andrej. Shared with him and Max. Pours clear pale golden, no head. Honey, fruity notes, bit spicy. Sweet. Flat carbonation. Medium bodied.
3.6 At a festival. Clear color. some carbonation. Much more honey and yeast character than the previous beverage. medium sweet but I do not taste mango or black pepper, but there is fruit I cannot specifically identify. I like the carbonation on the palate.
3.9 clear yellow colour. aroma is floral and spicy. taste is floral, juicy with a sweet finish followed by a slight peppery heat building up. quite slick mouthfeel, rather carbonated. my soul likes this :) bottle 50cl / bd 2014
3.7 500ml bottle. Pours crystal clear straw color with no head. Mango nectar, fresh ground pepper, and medicinal nose. Light mouthfeel, medium sweetness. Nice fizzy carbonation that helps lighten this cyser. I love the spice and fruit balance. This is an excellent mead for a pairing with pan roasted pork chops.
3.9 Bottle. Clear yellow-colden color with small soda head that goes down quickly. Visible sparkly carbonation. Aroma is roses, pepper, mango and apples, with a delicate honey note. Taste is apples and mango, with a pepper flavour (but not really the spiciness), again a delicate honey flavour, and an amazingly refreshing palate due to the slightly fizzy carbonation. Thirst-quenching, with enough complexity and very tasty. It is sweet, but not overpowering, the pepper and the carbonation balance it out and keep it refreshing. A very impressive "light and sparkly" Mead (although it tastes more like a fruited & peppered Cyser), this one would be a perfect summer drink. The only reason this cracks the 4 is the appearance, but what do you expect from a light sparkling mead?
3.9 Pours a light straw yellow, no head. Aroma is mango and pepper. Flavor is dry pepper and mango. Has a soft, light body. I like this.
3.6 Bottle 50cl. @ The Beer Garden Store, Madrid, Spain. A: Golden. T: Honey, sweet, fruity, slightly spicy.
3.7 Gold. Nose of sweet flower pollen and mango. Flavor is mango with floral honey and noticeable low level black pepper residual.
3.8 Draft at Bru Craft. Crystal clear gold pour. No head. Very sweet but has some strong spicy drying tannins to take things to any interesting place. Mango honeycomb. Peppercorn finish. Notes of dandelion, satsuma and ginger. Intense.
3.5 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Fajne.
3.5 Bottle @cgarvieuk. April Not So Fools Tasting 2014 [Rating Backlog April 2014] Pours clear. Nose and taste all in one, apricot, mango black pepper. It was more like a fruit cordial but still nice.
3.4 500 ml bottle from Valli Produce in Rockford, IL, served out of the fridge in a White Winter Winery stem glass. Fizzes a bit, produces no head atop the big-bubbled pale straw body....nose is full of black pepper and intense farmy character - really could not tell it’s a mead, or any other particular kind of alcoholic beverage, from this nose; it reminds me actually of an intense peppery vegan mushroom dish I used to get years ago at a Korean restaurant in Chicago; I quite like it, but it’s an odd aroma coming out of a honey-wine....body is thankfully somewhat less peppery, though the spice is still present; I can taste a bit of the sweet mango and honey of course, though it is difficult to get past the spicy aroma, and by the back end the pepper has come back full force, giving an almost corrosive character to the finish and going down...lightly syrupy body, faint carbonation. This is a fascinating beverage, I’m glad to have it and can honestly say that I "like" it overall - but I will likely never buy it again. Really cool idea, but I don’t want a mead burning my throat very often.
