3.4 Süßlich malzig in der Nase. Im Trunk setzt sich deutlich das Malz durch, dann feine Fruchtanklänge. Hinten bitter. Sehr bekömmlich.
2.3 Honey sweet with a wet malt heaviness and odd apple and lemon undercurrents. Out of whack, in other words, combining the unwanted elements in both American and English pales. Finishes with a mild slap of pine and yeast, but the sweetness is untenable. Not good.
3.0 Clear golden orange pour with a huge white head. Smell is pilsner like and yeasty. Taste is slightly malty and also pilsner/lager like, or a blond. Not really a pale ale. Medium bodied and medium carbo. Not bad, not a pale ale either.
3.2 Can from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is malty and mildly hoppy with notes of caramel, grain, floral hops and light fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. Easy APA with a rather restrained hop profile.
3.5 Can @ home. Clear golden color, medium sized white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste lightly malts, citrussy, lightly citrus hoppy and moderately bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer.
2.9 355ml can. Clear, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy, strawy, minimally grassy hoppy aroma, a spicy touch of silage. Taste is slightly bready and minimally strawy, pale malty, mildly bitter and minimally grassy hoppy overtones. Quite earthy, lacks some fruitiness or any other refreshing quality. Meh.
2.9 Pours a slightly hazy gold color with bountiful white head. Aroma is faint orange and yeast esters. Flavor is crisp with a little spice.
3.3 Bottle best before 9-07-17. Purchased from Double Shoppe. This is light copper in color with good head formation. Aroma is a little cardboardy with biscuits and grapefruit. The bitterness is in the middle of pale ales, maybe slightly on the lower side. Citrusy and grassy hop bite is on the palate with each sip. Light mouthfeel with a pretty crisp finish. Cereal flavors comprise the malt body without any strong specialty malt influenece. A lingering grassy, papery hoppiness sticks around.
2.9 355ml bottle - pre-HBF2017 hotel bash - thanks VastActiv! (6:3:6:3:11=2.9) Sweet fruity malts in the aroma, spicy and cakey. Pale and cloudy. Sweet malty body, full and smooth and a bit slimy. Sweet malty taste. Harsh bitterness in the finish. Roughish pale ale.
4.5 Naked Pig has a thick, spongy, slightly off-white head, a mostly clear, orange appearance, with a bit of glass lacing globs. Aroma is faint, but white bread and citrus can be detected, with a strong inhalation. Taste is of mellow bitterness, citrus (tangerine?), white bread, white bread crust, and mild caramel. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Naked Pig finishes medium dry. Similar to Audible Ale, in flavor, but with a more robust alcohol aspect. RJT
2.3 330ml bottle (thanks VastActive). Clear amber color. Small size, white head, stays as a ring. Caramel, buttery, citrus and vegetables in aroma. Bready malts, caramel, sweet and vegetables in taste. Almost flat carbonation. Messy brew.
3.2 Bottle @hotel room tasting, thanks Vastactiv. Poured golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has apricots, hops, floral notes, some sweet fruits. Flavor has citrusy hops, floral notes, hay, some grass and malt. Ok bitterness.
3.3 (Bottle, 0.5 l, at pre HBF2017 Saturday tasting, thanks VastActiv) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A quite bitter pale ale. Decent.
3.1 Bottle. Tnx VastActiv. Slightly hazy yellow color, small white head. Citrus, riped fruits, malts in the nose. Medium-bodied. Pineapple, citrus, gooseberries in the flavour. Solid.
3.2 Tap at note room in Philadelphia. Enjoyed straight from the bottle. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, hops and malts. Pretty basic apa.
4.2 Back Forty Naked Pig is an excellent pale with a little extra. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with frothy head. Aroma is peppery and tropical. Taste is tropical, peppery with a bit of funk -- just enough to make it interesting. Naked Pig might not be wearing any clothes but it certainly packs a surprise.
3.0 On tap. Pours a clear gold with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of citrus fruit, flowers and caramel malt. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, orange, pine and grass with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.
2.9 Draft. This is apretty basic pale ale, some herbs, citrus, pine, basic maltiness, jsut kinda boring.
3.1 This was a very good pale ale almost I. The realm of an IPA it had some really good hop notes and was smooth and had and easy drink ability
3.8 Hazy, golden pour with a white head. The aroma has orange juice notes with more citrus hops. It has a medium body with oily texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with a quick finish.
3.0 12oz bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with an averaged sized head. Citrus, floral hops, caramel and some bread.
3.2 Hazy gold, with a ring of foam. Pretty standard, with a good deal of citrus and some caramel aromas. Taste might be a touch more sweet than the aroma indicates. Pretty quaffable.
3.4 12 oz. bottled 04/13/2016. Clear, orange-golden body supports a thin disc of foam. Aroma is bread, earthy honey and light evergreen resin. Tastes of husky toast, mineral water, resiny herb, toffee and sourish citrus. Some peach and/or honeydew melon in the finish. Near-medium bodied with a smooth, low-medium carbonation. Nice balance that’s not as dry as many in the style.
3.6 30 November 2019:. Can. Clear pale gold color poured with a white head that leaves minimal lacing. Light aroma with a toasted malt and a hoppy floral and pine flavor profile. A tasty pale ale. Rating 3.6 May 2, 2016: Bottle. Orange gold in color with a thin white head. The aroma is pine hops, while the taste is sweet malt. Rating 3.3.
3.4 Pours a deep goldish amber color. Aromas of hops and a touch of wheat. Flavor of big hops, medium body. Dry hop finish and aftertaste.
2.9 Aroma - floral hops, dough malt, and some applesauce like quality. Appearance - body has a hazy sunglow, with a little sediment. The head head is white and about 1". Fades into a thin film. Taste - has a mix of sweet dough malt and floral hops. Fruity quality. Palate - medium body, smooth texture, average carbonation, and the slightest bit of bitters.
2.9 1oz bottle poured into a shaker. The aroma is pine-sol-like with a citrus and floral touch along with a medicinal / chemical note and a touch of a funky, sour fruit. It pours clear and oily with a light amber hue and a white soapy head that has moderate retention and lace. The taste is a medium sweet and slightly north of medium bitter. The beer is oily with fizzy carbonation and a medium body. Flavors of underippe stone fruit and bread are most noted with a hint of a bitter citrus juice. The finish is zesty citrus with a floral dryness and leaves an cloying aftertaste of floral, bitter citrus.
4.0 [ bottle ][ 1oz ][ @Tasting ][ $ ? ][ snifter ][ 12.06.15 ] transparent gold, effervescent with thick dense white head. Delicate nose is very dry paper bitterness up front, light Belgian yeast influence in candy sugar, pillowy dry grain and peppery malt in waves. Awesome nose. Flatter flavor but still fantastic balance and attenuation.. heavy grass bitterness up front with light cracked grain mid, bit thin and filmy, the hops growing with warmth. This is SOLID. Supper attenuated, no messy sweetness, solid malt complexity, expressive yeast in the nose..
3.1 12oz bottle, thanks to shrubber85. Shared with 3 friends. Honestly he gave it to me around 3 months ago, but I was nervous abut opening it because the date on it is 11/21/14. Bottle foams just upon opening, but it doesn’t spill over, just goes halfway up the neck. Sure enough, it does taste a little off, but it’s not too bad. Maybe a slight brett action here. It’s effervescent, soft carbonation. Dry finish. Clear golden color. Ring and web of white head. Leaves a bit of lace. Some herbal character, a little citrus, bit of farmhouse type funk and a little mustiness. Not too bad, really, a lot better than expected. The funk has done alright here, a lot better than I think it would have been without it. Medium body, kind of an effervescent carbonation. Dry finish. Light to moderate bitter, very light sweet... dry overall. Touch of tang. Overall, surprisingly alright. A touch brett infected I think, but if you look at it as a brett pale ale it kind of works. Nothing too bad about it.
