The light, refreshing character of our award-winning golden ale is distinguished by its subtle elderflower aroma, reminiscent of a summer’s evening. Champion is particularly rewarding when served chilled. On a balmy evening in Stanpit Marsh, a cool breeze blows and a calm encompasses the vast reserve. Amongst the wild horses, you may see Golden Champion, a headstrong but loyal stallion who enjoys the warm days grazing in th fields. The subtle elderflower aromas of this delicately floral brew are reminiscent of a summer’s evening. This divine all-rounder is a great companion for smoky, chargrilled chicken and peppery rocket salad.

3.0 Light elderflower and citrus aroma. Taste has light citrus, elderflower. Finish is malty with crackerwheat and bready notes.

3.0 Clear gold with a thin white head. Yeasty aroma, peaches, hops. Taste, floral and sweet, light malt, ginger, barley sugar, slight lingering bitterness. Crisp, refreshing, drinkable. Ok.

3.1 Clear golden appearance. Aroma is malt and hops. Flavour is bitter, hops and citrus.

3.5 22 Jul 2020 Bottle. Pale hazy orange golden color with small whitehead. Slight malty aroma. Low carbonation. Mild malty sweetness. Crisp finish. Very drinkable. 13 May 2022 Bottle. Hazy golden color. Malt and slight elderflower aroma. Mild sweetness. I commented low carbonation but actually I feel high carbonation this time… crisp finish. refreshing summer ale.

3.3 Bottle from local Asda – now 4.5% Pours a golden yellow with a generous but transient white head. Some malty notes in the aroma, but it’s only slight. In the mouth there is an initial sweetness followed quickly by grainy malts, citrus hops and corncob. Finish varies from mouthful to mouthful ! Sometimes sweet, sometimes dry, sometimes ginger – weird ! The more I tase, the more I like it.

4.7 Stonking ale. Looks fantastic after the pour, strong 2f head that stays. Fruity yet mild taste with a lovely after taste.

3.3 Pours a beautiful light golden with a white head. Slight whiff of vanilla, hints of elderflower and grape, possibly apple or pear. Fairly sweet.

3.1 500ml clear bottle at 4.5% from Tesco, Leatherhead. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of malt. Malt biscuit taste. Sweet finish.

3.8 500ml bottle @ 4.5%. Lovely floral aroma. Pours with a light head but not too frothy and disappears quickly with slight lacing. I first get a sweet floral/elderberry flavour, then a mild earthy hop and malt with a slight bitter note at the end although smooth throughout. The flavour is more complex than that sounds but I’m not yet experienced enough to pick up some of the more subtle flavours. I can safely say thought that I don’t taste the gingerbread note mentioned previously. Very nice ale.

3.1 500ml (4.5%) at home on 11 May 2020, purchased on 10 May 2020 from Asda, Liberator Drive, Heathfield Retail Park, Ayr (bbe Apr 2021): cereal, grain aroma, pale golden brown, good pale cream head, excellent film of lacing, floral, bready, cereal flavour, creamy, good carbonation, sweet finish.

3.5 Bottle, 50 cl (my bottle: ABV 4.5%). Overall pleasant ale: malt dominates. I believe the elderflower makes a nice, sweet and fruity contribution. Carbination is average and the finish surprisingly minor. In all, a nice golden ale.

3.3 Bottle. Pours golden with light head. Aroma is sweet, corn, malty, some floral notes. Taste is soft, some floral notes, sweet, cereals, some apricot, crispy pie. Nice beer!

3.3 500ml bottle from Meik, drunk at home on a cold January evening. Clear gold, topped by a brief frothy head, some lacing but no visible rising carbonation. On the nose, complex floral aromas with fresh apricot, hints of honey and pumpkin. In the mouth, soft texture, rich flavours that follow the aromas, a touch of sweetness, medium carbonation with quite a long finish. Masses of old-school hops and really rather good.

3.2 Bottle at the Raj in New Haw. Malty faintly spiced aroma. Light gold. Foamy white head. Light bitter. A hint of citrus sour. Malt base. Light bodied. Thin. Average-fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Nice enough if bland.

3.8 Aroma is sweet, malty, and floral. The flavour is light malty with a good sweetness, and a smooth, complex floral taste. Elderflower goes amazingly well here. Rich malty and floral finish. Another reviewer mentioned 'gingerbread' - there's hints of that too. Not the strongest flavour though.

3.5 Bought this from the Greens Supermarket in Swieqi, Malta with an offer/discounted price on 11/09/2019. This golden ale apart from that ale taste it has an extra taste: a floral taste, which infant, on the back label there is written that it has a taste of a 'floral hints of elderflower' aroma to it. 🍺🇬🇧 English Ale beer. It has 4.5% vol.

4.1 500ml bottle brewed in UK at 4.5% Grassy and floral aroma, with perhaps a hint of gingerbread. Large small-bubbled sudsy head, dissipating quickly. Mellow gold colour. Low carbonation. Biscuity savoury malt throughout, a bit nutty and with a hint of elderflower - infinitely better than Jubel's Urban! Well-crafted and refreshing smooth drink; I rate it highly. Could perhaps be criticised as being a touch watery, though only a touch - I wonder what this was like when it was at 5%, and find it a bit silly that it was reduced "in response to consumer drinking trends" - that doesn't say much for the integrity of the brewer's craftsmanship does it now? At which ABV did he think it tasted best, hmm? Anyway, this doesn't do quite as much as some of Badger's other offerings, but what it does do it does very well., with a well presented cohesive taste profile. There's quite a few flavours in here to explore, but you'll need to seek them out yourself, this isn't a song and dance of a beer.

4.0 Light gold with no head or lacing. Smells skunky. Taste is slight malty and sweet with a touch of hops. Mix of Corona and Heineken.Smooth.MB

3.0 Dark blond beer, medium-long creamy white foam. On the nose aromas of citrus, wheat, malt. In the mouth is sparkling and lively, hints of citrus. Birra biondo scuro, schiuma bianca cremosa di media durata. Al naso profumi di agrumi, frumento, malto. In bocca è frizzante e vivace, sentori di agrumi.

3.3 Bottled 0,50L. Dark blonde/orange color, bubbly and medium fizzy aspect with good creamy white head of medium duration. Fresh and light prickly citrus nose, wheat, pale malt, corn and butter aromas. Fizzy and lively taste, pleasant alcoholic impression, fresh malty, bit citrus and field/dry straw aromas.
