4.3 Bottle from Sainsburys. Nice beer. Very refreshing and even more so when chilled. Nothing ultra special just very agreeable.
2.8 Hazy golden amber, off white head. Neutral nose. Light malt start, medium hop finish. Nice balance
2.8 Can’t really place an aroma or taste.
2.8 500ml bottle. Gold colour, white head. Malty, grainy, light biscuity, light citrus, light malty, bit watery, almost macro pale lager aspects. Drinkable enough but bit dull overall
2.9 Clear golden appearance. Aroma is malt and hops. Flavour is bitter, malt, citrus and sweet.
2.8 500ml bottle from local Morrison's. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma: sweet malts, citrus, lightly floral. Taste: light sweet & bitter, sweet malts, light citrus, grains. Light to medium body, average carb, light dry finish
2.6 500ml bottle. Good golden pour with white head. Aroma of malt, grain, hay and a slight hint of sweet fruit at the end. A disappointingly uncomplicated malt cereal flavour with a bitter not at the end. Not much going on at all. Compared to this breweries ‘Badger Golden Champion’ ale this is a real disappointment. Its ok though but wouldn’t recommend.
2.3 Pours a golden colour beer with a white frothy head Notes of citrus fruits and berries fruits fresh fruits and berries fruits and strawberries fruits and berries
3.2 Golden color, with slight opalescence. With excellent foam. Nose. Floral, malt, notes of fruit. Taste. Malt, with floral-fruity shades. The aftertaste. Hop bitterness. Pleasant Pale Ale.
3.0 Clear pale gold and thin white head. Musty, hoppy aroma. Crisp and refreshing taste. Some honey sweetness, malt, touch of citrus, spiciness, and a long bitter finish. Balanced, satisfying beer.
3.0 Aroma : Toasted sweet caramel maltiness, soft fruity melony overtone with a light wheat/hay note. Taste : As Aroma, decent bittersweet balance. Body is a bit thin for an ESB. Decent without being a standout
2.4 Dorée, un peu ambrée, bonne mousse. Nez houblon cara blond anglais. Gout leger et aqueux sur le malté caramel... fin très légère, pas géniale.
3.0 500ml bottle. Pours a golden color with a fair head. Aroma of malt sweetness, bit of citrus and bread. Taste of malt sweetness bit of caramel with trace of citrus and grain. Mild bitterness and fairly clean finish. Moderate body, typical bitter character.
2.5 500ml bottle from Tesco on 25/10/2005. Is what it is. I’m sure I’ve had it since; it used to be that but stronger and probably had a bit more body than the other bottled bitters.
3.4 Aroma of fruits, malt and a hint of hay. Golden with a white head. Medium + sweet and medium bitter. Medium + body with average to soft carbonation. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Overall a decent Strong Bitter.
1.5 Yes, can. Unlike the cask that I tried 4 years ago which I remember extremely well. (Actually I have no idea). This pours with a bleach white foam and medium gold body, with nothing but rotting grain on the nose. The flavour is soft Hallowe'en candies, those chewy caramel types, and a fair bit of tin thrown in. Cloying sugariness. Wow, just.... I can't even, as the reddit incel moderators say. Just a pile of caramelly junk.
2.7 Clear copper, toffee, nuts, slightly metallic, would be nice in cask.
3.1 โกลเด้นหอมเข้ม แหลมปลาย
3.0 0,5l bottle @ Vihreä Haltiatar. Pours clear golden with a medium head. Aroma is sweet malts. Flavor is sweet malts with some hops. Decent.
3.1 Bottle from Waitrose. #4 MJ 500 beer of this 2019 summer trip. Medium gold with a tall, fine head. Nose is lightly citrus hops, bit of bread, touch of cardboard and pear. Lightly spicy hops. Rather plain. Falvor is lemony, almost a touch of candy in there, tart from the hops. Some white bread and sweetness. interesting hops. Prickly, lightly bitter finish. Rather fizzy, lager-like. Ok but certainly not all that profound. This was probably one of the first wave of UK golden ales that went for the lager market, but it has been surpassed abundantly by this time. Not up there with Summer Lightning even, I would say. Still drinkable but would not be in anyone's 500 today.
2.0 Bottle 5% Pours great with a lovely head caramel taste in the background, But not as I remember it, no body and weak and watery No substance or hop taste either.
3.5 Can brewed in England. Aroma of pear and a little hops. Gold in colour. Large, moderately-lasting head with a fair few bubbles. Moderate-light carbonation, taste is earthy malt with some grassy hop lurking in the background. A touch metallic at the end, but then a lingering biscuity maltness. Something of an indoor, slightly later in the day beer.
3.1 500ml bottle at home. Clear dark gold white head standard malt bitter bready notes
3.0 Danke (?) an minutemat. Hellmalzig getreidiger, weich herber Beginn. Leicht hopfiger Mittelteil, würzig-herb, süffig. Mittellanger, zunehmend bitterer Abgang. Nett. 8/9/10/9/6/9
3.3 Bottle 500 ml from Co-op. Aroma is malts, grain, caramel, subtle citrus and fruitiness. Clear golden body and white head. Refreshing beer with malts, caramel, grain, some citrus. Grainy aftertaste. Dry palate. I love this kind of Brit ales.
2.1 Bottle at home. I used to drink this all time and thought it was one of the better bitters out there but after going on to craft beer I realise that its nothing more than just okay ish. Ive only given it the rating for old times
2.5 I've been drinking only microbrewery craft ales recently, so I decided to recalibrate my taste buds with this pasteurised supermarket muck. Naturally, drinking this makes me realise how much I've been spoiled by craft beers brewed by independent microbreweries, which are worth every penny. This stuff in no way compares to anything like a *real* ale, but I reckon it's actually pretty good if you're after something in between an IPA and a semi-decent continental lager. Perfectly acceptable and a clever way to introduce some friends, perhaps, to the world of ales. You get a slight hoppiness and a slight sweetness from this. What more could you expect from something from a supermarket shelf? Probably the ideal beer for someone who might usually drink lagers and is considering switching to something a scintilla more authentic.
