Baird Teikoku IPA

Baird Teikoku IPA

This brew bursts with hop character while still achieving a sublime balance due to a firm, robust malt backbone. It is a cross between an English-style and American-style India Pale Ale that is full-bodied and refreshing all at once.

3.6 On tap at Baird Harajuku Taproom. Orange pour with citrus aroma. Malt, citrus, a little resin, light bitterness. Well balanced IPA.
3.4 Bottle at my parents. Some malt sweetness. Nice fresh hop character. Mild and drinkable. Refreshing.
3.9 Bottle at home. Nice beer. Pretty tame for an ipa but still hoppy and fresh. Slightly more malty and sweeter than I expected. Medium body, soft carbo.
2.5 Draught. Amber in colour, white head. Aroma of malt with a touch of hops. In taste some citrus, lot of caramel, medium sweet. Medium body, average carbonation, long light bitter and astringent finish.
3.6 Sampled @ SBWF 2915. Fluffy and lasting beige head. Solid golden color. Very tropical with much apricots aroma. Smooth malty and light fruity taste. Low bitterness for an IPA.
3.0 Draught@BGM 4 Aroma-citrus, fruits Appearance-pale, hazy, white foam, Taste-light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, Palate-medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, long finish, Overall-interesting
3.7 On tap at Good Beer Faucets, Tokyo. Pours dark orange, off-white head.Hoppy, malty, caramel, fruity, citrus. Moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nice.
3.0 Beermarket.hu Tasting session @ Budapest. Hazy brown / Marron turbio. T/S: Hops, resinous, bitter, slightly malty / Lupulo, resinoso, amargo, ligeramente a malta.
3.3 Barwa bursztynowa, całkowicie nieprzejrzysta. Piana gęsta ale błyskawicznie opada lecz w minimalnym stopniu utrzymuje się do końca. W aromacie cytrusowa świeżość, lekko winny, minimalne czerwone owoce. W smaku przyjemna nienachalna goryczka, do tego dochodzi w tle zielone jabłko, arbuz i trawa cytrynowa bądź cytrusy. Przyjemne i treściwe.
2.8 (Keg at Pudel, 20160710) The beer poured deep amber and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, tea and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, tea, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter with tea notes. A weird brew. Drinking a full pint would be a challenge.
3.2 33cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours slightly hazy deep amber with a fairly small off-white head. Rather malty aroma with more subtle fruity and hoppy notes, hints of pine, caramel and citrus. Medium to moderate sweet with mild flavours, but a fairly decent bitterness. A bit to much towards the English IPA for my taste, but certainly decent brew.
3.1 Cloudy amber liquid with frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, goatweed. medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, light body, creamy, average carbonation,
3.4 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy copper pour with a frothy beige head, aroma has lemon, biscuit, taste has biscuity malts, some citrus, light bitterness, quite basic.
3.6 It pours murky amber, with a large creamy head. Aroma is floral, fruity, herbal somehow. Thin in the palate, but quite tasty (grapefruit, peach, pine), little hops, no booze. Not bad, not the best IPA, but certainly a decent drink.
3.3 0.1 draft. A hazy brown color with virtually no head. Sweet aroma of pale malts, unusual mixture of hops; grassy, fruity, and floral scents. Taste is kind of watered down, hoppy, some tea is there too - meeh. A medium body, a slick and smooth texture, and an almost flat carbonation. Finish is medium long, smacks of tea - not bitter at all. Overall not a bad beer, certainly different from the mainstream.
3.5 Tap na BGM. Piwo średnie jak na IPA. Zduszone nuty chmielowe w aromacie i w smaku, dość mocno przebija się słodowść. Brakuje goryczki. Nie do końca moja bajka jeżeli chodzi o ten styl.
3.5 Aroma of fresh grass, and lots of it, some hay and cereal. I found the aroma very reminicent of old skool classic Steinlager, but way better. Thin body, drinks like a lager. Taste is grass malt, light grapefruit and a touch of not-quite-ripe berries at the edges. Slightest hint of stainless steel at the back. I enjoyed this a lot; it’s very easy drinking and simple but not overly so. It’s very lager-ish and If this were a lager, and if most lagers were this good, I’d be a lager-boy.
3.1 Amber, hazy, small long lasting white foam, some citrus, caramel, little bit yeasty? Medium bitterness, medium- sweetness, medium body, little oily feel, average carbonation, quite long bitter astringent finish -- rated with beerbasher
3.5 Aroma is clove, lemongrass, sulphur. Taste is very subtle and gentle with farmhouse feel, tart and light caramel. Appearance is a hazy brown/orange with a medium fluffy head that retains very well.
3.0 Bottle from L’Abbaye des Saveurs, Lille - FR. Color: clear golden blond beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell: malt and bread domination. Fruity and grassy balance. Taste: medium body with caramel malt with good grassy hops. Balance. Nice bitterness. Wet bitterness. Easy drinkable. Good attenuation. Sweet finish. Aftertaste: sweet bitterness and cereals notes.
4.0 Mooie donkere kleur maar weinig schuim. Mooie hopsmaak. Bier uit Japan bevalt me erg goed.
3.2 Cloudy orange pour from 12oz bottle at HOB in Bangkok. White head. Musty grapefruit and peach flavors. Underwhelming but defiantly drinkable.
3.5 (Baird Teikoku IPA) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a big tulip, ABV 6.5% Dark orange colour on the body, hazy, with a small off-white head on top, thin with average retention. Aroma of light citrus, oranges, tangerine. Taste also of light citrus, grapefruit, oranges, light tangerine, lemon flowers, some cookie dough. Medium body, good carbonation. Pretty good.
3.5 Hazy orange color with beige head. Faint hoppy aroma with orange and tangerine notes. Taste starts with an intense nutty, biscuit malt note and some hops follow and continue into the aftertaste and linger with medium bitterness. Body is quite heavy, smooth and has a good carbonation for the style. Really interesting take on an IPA, I just wish it was fresher.
3.1 Bottle @ home. Hazy to murky orange brown color, full sized a bit rough off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, hops, lightly fruit hops but also a hint of tea. The flavor has it as well, not sure whether it’s tea actually but something slightly weird I can’t put my finger on exactly. Malts, hops, a touch of tea, a touch of orangepeel, malt bitter and a slight hint of fruit hop bitter. Decent body and carbonation. A bit weird imo.
3.3 Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2015. Hoppy smell with caramel and some citrus. Similar taste. Light-medium bitterness. A light IPA.
3.2 Bottle @ ÖÖWF2015: Aroma of late summer flowers, caramels and malt. Taste is pretty English style IPA with subtle hops and bready notes. Slight citrus and pretty standard IPA.
