Originally sold as a winter ale under the name Nöel - name changed to Leön in 2012/13

Aroma initially characterized by pepper that fight in a field ruled by a rich fruity fragrance of dried fruits with ripen banana, toffee and a soft sweet chocolate fragrance. The attentive taster shouldn't miss a sharp floral of rose and a sensation of must of wine always pleasant.

4.1 Aromi di caffè, liquirizia, prugna, malto scuro, color tonaca di frate intenso quasi impenetrabile, schiuma beige compatta e persistente. Al palato caramello, biscotto , cioccolato, bassa carbonazione e con un finissimo amarognolo finale che riscalda, in cui si percepisce appena la gradazione alcolica magistralmente occultata.

3.4 Belle bouteille laissant échapper un liquide noir à reflets rubis, peu de mousse. Nez sur les malts rôtis, un peu de fumé, du chocolat, du sirop de Liège. Bouche douce, chocolatée, moyenne carbo, sucre candi, des épices avec une finale assez sirupeuse.

3.0 Licht bruin bier met verassend weinig schuim. Het bier heeft een milde zoete smaak met daarnaast hinten van chocolade, krenten, banaan, toffe en een klein pepertje. (Mitra Xperience 2019)

3.5 Bottle. Pours hazy dark copper brown with airy beige head. Clear but mild aroma of malt, yeast and caramel, with touches of spice. Botter, hoppy onset, giving way to sweet notes of caramel malt, Belgian yeast and dried fruit, with hints of cinnamon. Estery and malty aftertaste with herbal and hoppy hints. Decent.

4.0 Birra ambrata scura con leggera schiuma. Gli aromi che emana non sono molto forti, si caratterizzano per note pepate. Il corpo è pieno e il gusto deciso. In bocca sentori speziati e fruttati-floreali intensi, percepibile un tocco di pepe. Anche note di banana date dagli esteri. Ricorda per certi versi alcune birre trappiste. Nel complesso è dolce ma ben bilanciata. Il contenuto alcolico dona calore. Birra da meditazione e per occasioni speciali.

3.6 Ciemne piwo, aromat palony, skórka do chleba. W smaku słodkie, karmelowe. Nic specjalnego.

3.1 De geur is lekker fruitig. Mooie schuimkraag als je uitschenkt. De snaak is redelijk zoet. Lekker, maar geen topper l

3.5 Color tonaca di frate con sospensioni di lievito. Schiuma nocciola con granulometria medio fine e dalla buona persistenza. Al naso buon bouquet dolce, toffee, malto, biscotto e frutta sotto spirito. In bocca meno intensa. Prevale il dolce per tutta la bevuta. La birra risulta molto beverina nonostante l’abv importante ed il poco corpo. Poco complessa in bocca e troppo waterly.

3.6 Bottle from the Christmas advent calendar courtesy of Pix. Pours deep brown with a thin cream head. Sweet fruit cake aroma. The taste has spice, fruit cake, aniseed and liquorice. Nice.

3.3 750ml bottle. Very dark brown color, almost black. Small size, tan head, stays. Malty, sweetish, candy, slightly metallic in aroma and in taste. Pleasant in mouth. Solid brew.

3.7 Bottle (thanks Marduk). Pours copper. Aroma is sweet and malty, fruity. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruuts, sugar, malt, toffee. Finish is sweet and malty. Overall: good.

3.1 Tree bark brown. A bit cloudy. Thin, off-white head. Aroma is port, toffee, and malt. Taste is some dark chocolate, toffee, and praline.

3.4 Niet heel mooi rood zwart, met veel neergeslagen gist en weinig kraag... neus heeft chocola en gist, maar in de mond is er vooral veel drop, zout zelfs... medium bodied, zoet zoutig met n interessante afdronk met gist chocola en wat drop

3.8 Creamy beige head on a heavy particulated dark brown still body. Sweet berry, boozy & demerara aroma. Medium to full bodied, tingly on the tongue with a smooth clean back. Berry, plum, demerara, smoke hints, sweet berries & caramel tastes.

5.0 Zachte zwarte Ale. Fruitige aroma’s met mooi volle en zoete smaak. Zacht mond gevoel.

3.4 750ml bottle. Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma is yeast, some herbs, fruits, old grass. Taste is caramel, sweet, raisin, some wooden dust, toffee, some fruits, medium yeast. Nice beer!

3.6 Cool bottle. Sweet, tones of fruit and caramel. Nice beer but in some way a bit dissapointing..

3.9 Bijna zwart kleur, witte schuimkraag van korte duur. Neus is interessant al hoewel niet heel intens met aromas van pruimen, toffee. Medium tot vol in de mond met smaken van koffie, karamel, rozijnen, rijp donker fruit. Na wat tijd komt chocola ook naar voren. Afdronk is vooral zoetig, licht bitter en van goede lengte. Erg mooi bier, zeker een om continue in huis te hebben.

3.0 Big corked bottle at home. Dark brown without much head. No lacing. Scent is medium notes of big caramel hit. Over-malted. A bit muddled. Some gray flavors of aggressive yeast as found in barleywine. Finish is a bit sticky and a bit dry. Overengineered and overrated. Very good.

3.2 Pivo u flaši. Ovaj Leon ili ti Noel, ima aromu na Belgian Strong i sve neke okuse koje bi i očekivao u takvom pivu (grožđice, karamela..) , ali ti okusi su "razmaknuti" jedan od drugog , tako da je ovo jedno od najneizbalansiranijih piva koje sam probao. Mislim , može se popit , ali to je samo slaba "kopija" jednog Belgian Stronga.

3.4 0,3l bottle. Apperance A cloudy, hazy red body, with a small off-white head. Aroma: Sweet, sugar, dark fruit, Dried fruit, banana and alcohol Taste: sweet, sugar,dark fruit, Dried fruit, banana and alcohol with a hint of hops. Decent carbonation and body.

3.7 Thuis uit een (leuk, apart) flesje. Bijna zwart van kleur, zeer mooi lichtbruin schuim. Redelijk volle smaak, maar gezien de abv en het goede uiterlijk, toch iets meer van verwacht. Maar evengoed lekker.

3.5 Attractive 330ml dark bottle, unfiltered, from an online shop - probably BeersOfEurope. This has big alcohol fumes, but once past that there's a pleasant bready malt drink. Mouthfeel is a little spritzy. It's quite heady. Sugary. Malty. All in all very pleasant, and definitely my sort of beer. I'll be looking to try more beers from this brewery.

3.2 Bottle from De Poort Van Kleef, Deventer. As "Baladin Leön". Aroma is brown malts, caramel, spicy yeast, clove, toffee, brown sugar, dried fruits, raisins. Flavour is fairly sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Decent Belgian strong dark ale with the usual flavours.

3.4 Bottle as Baladin Leon, BB 03/2019. Almost clear dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy and worty malt, bit spicy, bit hay, butterscotch, milk chocolate. Some strange grassy bitterness, caramel sweetness and some spicy and nutty notes. I dont know what to think of this beer. On one hand it feels like a strong belgian dubbel, but sometimes also like a hoppy keller, and the third time the spices take over.

3.3 Draft 0.15l at Vrteska festival II Belgrade, Serbia. Thanks everybody for sharing beers. 05.05.2017. Pour it dark brown color with small white head. Aroma toffee, some pepper spices. Taste sweet, caramel, rusty, spices, bit odd, honesty I don't like this Belgian style flavor beers, light body, sticky, soft carbonation, abrupt finish.
