Clear pale golden, small frothy white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; aroma toasted malts, grain, caramel, earthy notes; taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, bit hay, paper; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; decent lager. Earlier Rating: 6/9/2018 Total Score: 2.5 Can 33cl. from Bintang supermarket Ubud, @the cottage poured into a shaker. 1.0 Bottle at Bali. Oh my gosh. This is beer is so bad. Sour, corny nose. Light dms and distinct sourness in the taste. Wonderfully bad.
2.1 F: medium, white, poor retention. C: gold, bit hazy. A: malty, bit grassy, almost some herbal, grainy. T: herbal sweet, grainy, sweet grassy, BB: 03/18 so it seems not to be spoiled, bit oxidation and also almost mint tones also, oh I forgot it is specially blended for tropics so that’s why taste is so strange, medium body and carbonation, 33cl bottle from local Indian supermarket in Baie Lazare, Seychelles.
3.0 Butelka. Pachnie i smakuje jak typowy koncernowy lager. Nic specjalnego. Jest słodowość w smaku.
1.1 Oh dear, when traveling in Indonesia, having some good beer can be a challenge. Obviously, without a century old tradition and being infused with Dutch brewing (no offense) the result cannot be top-class. That being said, Bali Hai is average Indonesian quality.
2.6 Bottle @ nusa dua Beach hotel. Frank it from the Bottle but Golden clear. Straw White bready. Some DiA. Dry slight bitter. Fine on the terrace in front of the pool.
1.5 Can, 330 ml, BD NOV 17, from and with Luc Bourbonnière (merci!), savoured on November 18 2016; eye: golden, clear, no effervescence, minuscule ring of greyish head, no lacing; nose: water, slight corn, sugar; mouth: water, slight corn, sugar, finale in sweet water, light body, average carbonation, mildly sweet, watery texture; overall: so?
1.8 330ml bottle - thanks juks! (4:2:3:2:7=1.8) Classic papery pale lager aroma, starchy and sweet. Some definitely extracty hops. Taste similar, sweet and starchy. Finish a bit sticky starchy on the tongue, even a bit paper-gluey. Very macro.
2.3 Bottle (thanks juks). Pours yellow. Aroma is sweet, grainy, papery. Flavor is sweet and bitter, grains, malt, watery, some cardboard. Finish has some bitterness. Overall: kind of drinkableish.
2.5 330ml bottle. Pours clear golden, small white head. Malts, citrussy notes, sweat, corn, some butter in aroma. Tart notes, lemon, malts, hay in taste. Light to medium bodied, bit over average carbo. Kinda dry finish. Drinkable actually, average macro lager.
1.8 330ml bottle (thanks Juks). Pale yellow color. Medium size, white head, stays. Shit, grainy, glue, papery in aroma. Bad aroma. Sweet, watery, vitamins, melon and bit papery in taste. So watery and sweet. Serving temperature is all wrong (not as brewer intended). Uups. But still nope.
2.3 330ml bottle shared by Juks, thanks! Clear pale yellow, medium white head. Smells like sweaty grains, some acidity. Flavor is corn and grains, grain husky acidity and vague floral hops. Acidity in the aftertaste.
2.0 Can, 0.33l, courtesy of Rade. Clear pale golden color with thin frothy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of hay, vegetables, cereals and wet cardboard. Taste starts light sweet grainy, follows grassy and mild citric, mouthfeel is crisp and dry, while finish is mild bitter. Light body, watery texture and fizzy carbonation in palate. Unfortunatelly, no discernible difference with other Bali Hai lagers... Earlier Rating: 9/15/2015 Total Score: 1.6 Can, 0.33l, courtesy of Rade. Pours clear pale golden color with medium soapy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma is grainy, grassy, metallic, dusty and stale. Taste starts with moderate sweet grainy malt, following is papery and grassy, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is mild bitter. Light body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. Liquid Bali hay...
1.1 Can from Luc, this one I was definitely not thankful for! Clear straw with a thin foamy off white head. Sweet corn, artificial, musty, chalky, moderate carbonation and no body, actually like the gluten free version better.
1.0 Can: Poured a pale golden color lager with a small white foamy head. Aroma of adjunct, corn and residual sugar is not very pleasant. Taste is also a mix of adjunct with gross residual sugar notes and a bland finish. Body is a bit thin with good carbonation. Bland and gross with adjunct way too dominant.
1.9 A pale blonde lager with a very thin collapsing white head. In aroma, sweet rice malt with light mineral notes, unpleasant. In mouth, a strange mineral, chalky Asian swill, with a bit more hops, but still bad... Can from Seminyak, Bali.
2.1 Standard pale lager. I slightly preferred it to Bintang, but that is not saying much.
1.9 33cl bottle at Nyonya Meneer restaurant Enschede. Apperance: A clear golden color, with a small white head. Aroma: malts, corn, straw,/. Taste watery sweetish following the aroma, light bitterish, thin body, below average carbonation. easy drinking pale lager, which worked ok with the nice Idonesian food in the restaurant.
2.6 Skunky and reminded me a lot of Heineken. As it warned it got bad, very bad
1.8 Stuck again in Bali, at Aroma Restaurant with a three beer selection, pours a very clear pale color with a small head . Nose is grainy with rather afloat malt . Taste is the flat and grainy without any real flavor, but it will have to do. So far the Far East does not capture my beer palate !!! Onto Singspore and Bangkock, not expecting very much ! Quaff Score 3 / 10
0.7 Bottle. This is a simple little pale lager with nothing much going on of note. Decent in the stifling heat.
1.0 Sold in the Netherlands as "special ale", however it’s a rather dull, waterish boring Lager.
2.1 Pale golden colour with no head. Light malts. Light bitterness. Watery. A basic lager.
1.9 Bottle from Xenos shop. Blonde. Grainy Apple aroma and flavor. No aftertaste whatsoever. Drinkable, yes: flavor and aroma: no!
Backlog from 2015/11/01.
2.6 Home (20151225): Green 33 cl bottle. BB Mar 16. ABV ±4.78% !!! Nice thin layer of white foam. Clear yellow beer. In the aroma somewhat hop bitter and a slightly fruity (esters). Neutral taste with somewhat fruitiness (apple, peach). The body is thin. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and somewhat bitter dryness. The version from the can have slightly more body with a light malty taste. Good drinkable beer
