3.5 S'ok. Yeasty with a fruity bouquet. Just like every other hazy. It's getting old guys. Not every beer was meant to be a hazy. Certain ones work, and certain ones don't. This one don't.
3.3 Bottle from Alko. Hazy medium orange. Nose of sour pineapple citrus, a hint of haze. Citrus, tropical fruit, resin. Slightly floury palate. Nice but a bit more conflicted than the original
2.5 Herb hopfiger, süffig herber Beginn. Die Hopfigkeit bleibt konstant, minimal alkoholisch. Okay. 10/7/8/7//8
3.1 Wasn't my favorite of the sculpins. Pretty average taste and aroma to it. Drinkable but not preferres.
3.4 Overall quite dry and bitter. There’s some citrus zest and tropical fruit, but the hops pushes them out of the way through the finish.
3.7 Taster showing straw with sparse white foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of grapefruit and pine. The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Grapefruit and pine forward with a moderate pine bitterness.
3.4 Can date 21/8/19, San Diego. Hazy golden, creamy white head. Resinous, zesty, grapefruit, dry and grainy malts, medium-high bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.
1.0 OK, another can of fricken sculpin for a tick, how many are there? Then on top of that there are a gazillion IPA out there? Doesn't anybody ever get tired of IPA and all the bastardized styles that are really IPA? Just asking. Clear pale in the glass with a big foamy head. I'm not sure why its called aloha because its just another fricken bitter IPA. So much bitterness, you'd never pick out what the aloha flavor was. Yes, nasty nellie negative norton, straight up ass nut sack. There you have it, just another ubiquitous IPA that wants to be an imperial IPA; tastes just like one. Finishes with a warming sensation going down the throat. Not pleasant, at least it doesn't smell like diesel body odor.
3.8 Taste: fruit forward, grapefruit, pineapple hop bite, yeast bread, creamy, semi sweet malty notes, dry finish. Same with the nose. Amber hue, hazy, with foamy tan head and nice lattice. Medium body.
3.4 Can from O'Briens Sandyford, €3.12. Attack: big crisp tingly Mids: mango, lvl2-sweetness, tingly light creamy, hints guava, tropical fruity barley malt, Finish: pineapple exhale, lingering bitter hops, dryish. Overall: bold and smooth, bug tropical flavour. Smooth mouthfeel.
0.5 This beer gave my husband a massive allergy and I had pretty nearly heartburn from it. Tried it several months later and had the same problem. Tried again just in case it was a fluke. Something is not quite right with this blend.
3.6 Draft at Moriartys. Clear deep gold pour with a thick gummy white head. Sculpin with some tropical fruits. Mandarins. Pineapple. Mango. Papaya. Guava. Coconut. Peppery finish. Good but not an improvement on the original.
3.6 Can at State line. Poured into a snifter. Big head. Hazy orange in color. Smells good. Nose of tropical fruits. Peach, mango, pineapples. Taste is light fruityness. Mangoes, pineapple, apples, grassy. Dry and smooth. Well balanced malt backbone. Body is light and bubbly, easy to drink. Overall. Enjoy the regular and other version of sculpin but enjoyable none the less.
3.0 Tap (Bier Bier, Helsinki) (6+:3:6:3+:12-=3.0+) Nice ruity aroma. Fruity taste. Decent drinkability. Nice bitterness.
3.0 Bottle from Legacy LRS, Vancouver Cloudy to murky dark blond colour. Aroma of pineapple. Good body strength, not too dry, the malt is slightly husky, the hopping is lightly fruity, not very juicy though, and with some chicory bitterness in the finish. Ok beer.
4.4 This is definitely one of the best new IPAs I've tasted in a long time! The Aloha Sculpin poured a slightly hazy golden color with an ample white head. The head left some really nice, sticky lacing around the inside of the glass. The nose was extremely inviting, with a full compliment of fruity hops and bready malts. The flavors were really rich and delicious, with a ton of hops that featured tropical fruits and a bold spiciness. There was just enough bready malts with a caramel-toffee tone for balance. The Aloha Sculpin is a really fantastic and enjoyable IPA.
4.0 A little hoppy, a bit fruity, not bitter but tart
3.8 Can pour into nonic pint glass from The Beer Store, Nashua. Appearance is hazy orange with tons of effervescent sparkle, 2-finger width foamy off-white head with excellent retention and minimal soapy lacing. Aroma is strong orange and lemon citrus, mango, tropical fruit. Taste is dank bitter, citrus, mild fruit and background cracker malt. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft-to-average carbonation, pleasant alcohol warmth to the esophagus and finish as taste with lingering mild vegetal bitterness. Overall, aroma is more tropical than taste. Decent.
3.3 Can, Legacy. Hazy dull pale, with a thick, bubbly head. The aroma more or less aligns with regular Sculpin, though that's based on memory. Some weedy elements, light tropical fruits, and a fairly noticeable pale malt backdrop. On the palate, this doesn't seem all that fresh. Annoying, because it just arrived here. OK, well, there's still a nice pale malt, but the hops are more on the staler side than I'd like, to the detriment of bright, fruity aromatics. Hearty bitterness, but it's well-balanced. I just wish it was fresher - being 4 months old before hitting the shelves is just not what you want to see in an IPA.
3.4 Bottle from Walmart. Hopped with a strong grapefruit peel up front. Fairly full mouthfeel. Good bitterness. A little one dimensional. Slight tropical notes in the back end. About average for the style.
3.2 Very hazy burnt yellow, thick head and persistent lacing. Brewers description is accurate, similar to their original IPA with some juicy tropical notes. Bitter up front with tropical notes on the finish. Canned on 2/5/19, consumed on 5/20/19. $13.99/6 pack, 12oz cans at Publix, Boca Raton, Florida
2.8 (pl) Aromat utleniony, karmel, miód, chmiel jest ale słaby. W smaku goryczka lekka, przegazowane.
3.4 Orange gold pour, white head. Pine, resin, and pot, with tropical fruit character.
3.3 12 oz can. Smells of pineapple, citrus, mango. Hazy, light orange in color. Starts juicy, I taste a bit of citrus, light pineapple, grapefruit. Transforms into dank, resinous, lingering bitterness. Piney bitter finish. More on the bitter side than expected from a hazy IPA. Tasty, but I feel this is a not so good mismatch of styles.
3.8 12 oz can. Hazy orange with a dense white head. Aroma of pine, sweet and bitter citrus, banana, tropical fruit juices, and bread dough. Moderately bitter but lingers. Grapefruit, pineapple, bitter and herbal hops.
3.0 Pours hazy golden orange. Floral hop nose. Upfront I taste a sour pineapple. Has a bitter back end woody bite. Taste the high ibu’s. Tried a second to see if the heavy bitter would fade, but it did not, and I love double ipa’s. Not a big fan, and will pass in the future. Good buzz.
3.3 Can. Pours hazy golden orange with a white head. A little fruity hops, mild grassy notes, relatively mild bitterness, some flowery notes, and mild malty sweetness. Not bad.
3.3 My initial impression of this was it was a nice IPA with a fruity yeast kick but digging in a bit further it takes on a harsh, woody character that I'm not so into. It's okay overall but not exactly my favorite Sculpin.
3.8 Sample at Daily Growler Powell during "A Hoofy Hoppy Snakesgiving Pre Party + Mixing Bowl Asian Grill" on 11/21/2018. Hazy dark golden color with a medium of-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Tropical fruit, piney hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine, pineapple and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a tropical fruit and hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
3.8 355ml bottle bought at Q Club in SoHo, Central. Looks:Translucent golden orange colour with a thin layer of dirty yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 90 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with pineapples, mangoes, guava, tropical fruits, floral, sugar, spices, light pine, resins, dry biscuits, Bel yeast, citrus and fresh grass. Taste: Close to medium sweet Ale malt, with tartness, strong grapefruits, light tropical fruits, floral, fair sugar, spices, pine, resins, dry biscuits, Bel yeast, lime, strong bitter hops and fresh grass. Body: Mid to full body; Slick and oozy palate. Mouth Feel: Full Ale maltyness in a very slick background. Sharp grapefruit hops plus distinct Belgian yeast taste as in subtle tropical fruity esters, tartness and leaned malty feel. Flowery with fair sweetness. Spicy piney, fairly oozy biscuity with lime to round. Very nice! Hoppiness: Floral, spices, light pine, resins, citrus and fresh grass in nose. Strong grapefruits, floral, spices, pine, resins, lime and fresh grass in taste; Bitterness is quite strong for a lasting, mid to high astringent bitter-sweet Ale malty finish. After Taste: Quite dry. Tart, fruity citrusy and nice strong bitter to mouth. Comments: The Brux Trois yeast made an instant impact for the Sculpin, with pretty subtle tropical characters, tart taste and leaned malty sweetness.Much of the original's nice citrus and piney hoppiness remains intact. Strong as well as refreshing, nice to have one!
