Ballast Point Mocha Marlin Porter

Ballast Point Mocha Marlin Porter

Our Black Marlin Porter is the perfect beer for a mocha mashup. The addition of coffee and cocoa plays perfectly of the roasty, chocolaty flavors of this English porter, while a hint of vanilla smooths it all out. It’s full-bodied, but not too sweet; try it for breakfast...or dessert.

4.5 De Labirratorium. Lata.
4.1 Can. Almost black with a heavy lacing tan head. Rich chocolate and coffee roast aroma. Roasty and just a little sweet. Very smooth.
3.5 From a bottle, pours a black color with a medium sized khaki head. Nose and flavor are dark chocolate, vanilla, dark malts, coffee beans, roast, and grain. Pretty light bodied for a porter. Alright.
4.2 355ml can Black colour with generous tan head. Dark chocolate aroma. Sweet smooth chocolate palate with slight bitter coffee/dark chocolate finish. Nice.
3.6 Can. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, coffee, enhanced chocolate, earthy, lightly nutty flavors, moderate bitterness, good.
3.5 12 ounce can from Woodman’s Waukesha, 5/23/19. Black, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of coffee grounds, coffee, roast, chocolate. Taste is bitter roast, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate. Medium bodied, bitter. Decent.
3.4 Bottle from systembolagget. Pours dark brown. Aroma and flavor are cocoa powder, chocolate, roast, malt, coffee. Overall: ok beer with stuff added.
Densidad normal. Bastante buena para repetir sin duda alguna. Gran cerveza.
3.5 Bottle from the brewery - dark brown, beige head. milk chocolate, coffee, dark malts. really nice!
2.0 Big head, tastes a hit too bitter for me. Not a fan
3.2 From under a big head comes an equally big aroma of vanilla and faint breezes of milk chocolate and coffee. Medium-weight body and a mostly dry finish that starts sweet and then fades to sharp but not quite bitter. Poured from a can.
3.7 Bottle, alko. Black.. malty espresso, some sweetness, dark cocoa chocolately nose. Med full bodied, quite drinkable, lean, lotsa mocha, dry dark coffee. Finishes super clean, almost annoyingly sterile pleasant. With a coffee beany roast. Nice. Clean. as theres really not much to complain about, ive to make up something and say too approachable, doesnt provide the challange to make it awesome interesting. But really, this is super nice.
4.0 Can pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Classic Wines. Appearance is very dark brown with mahogany--almost opaque--with trace sparkle at edge of the glass, 2-finger width foamy beige head with fair retention and mild soapy lacing. Aroma is decadent mocha (milk chocolate dominant over lightly char-roasted coffee). Taste is mocha (dark roasted/lightly burnt coffee higher in the mix than aroma), more bitter than sweet back half. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, velvety smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with moderately strong bitter over sweet. Overall, amazing aroma and nice flavor though one dimensional and base beer is entirely obscured. Tasty dessert beer.
3.5 Couleur noire, forte mousse beige. Vraiment nickel
4.1 Dark brown color. Big, beige head. Chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Pleasant, roasted bitterness in taste. Smooth with roasted malt and cocoa in aftertaste.
4.1 Very chocolatey and malty and a bit of coffee
3.8 Just sitä mitä luvataan porter with Coffee and chocolate. Hyvin juotava.
3.8 Can from Village Beer Merchant. Dark brown. Plenty of coffee, roasted malts, fresh coffee roast, slightly bitter, smooth. Well drinkable.
3.0 So this beer just doesn’t do it for me. Pours an attractive dark brown color with a well retained tan colored head. Aroma is straight chocolate bar and not a good one. Taste is sweet and there is not enough bitterness to balance the sweetness, IMO. Meh
3.8 12 oz. can. Pours a pitch black color with a large, thick dark mocha head and great retention. Spotty lacing. As expected, roasted coffee and dark chocolate aroma. The flavor matches the nose. Unfortunately more coffee flavor than chocolate. The chocolate is more evident in the finish. Creamy, rich mouthfeel. Pretty good in spite of the coffee. The 6.0% ABV is undetectable.
4.3 Espresso and chocolate
3.8 Pours tar black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and some vanilla. Rich body with coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and some vanilla. Very nice beer!
3.7 Pours a dark brown with a very foamy tan foam head. Aroma is rich chocolate with coffee/roast. Flavor is a nice blend of coffee and roast, with an earthy bitter finish. The body is a bit thin, but well-carbonated. A solid coffee porter.
3.5 12 oz bottle as Mocha Marlin Winter Release. (Systembolaget) Helsingborg, Sweden. Enjoyed on Jan 9 2019. Black color with a medium size foamy tan head. Chocolate, spices, gingerbread, sweetness, coffee (or chili) and roasted malt in the aroma. The flavor is spices, chocolate, some bitterness, roasted malt, dryness and a lot of coffee. Seasonal.
4.7 A sweet brew, but not the kind that kicks your molars and makes you want to brush your teeth. Dominant coffee, chocolate, and caramel flavor that rotates over your tastebuds. Roasted finish that doesn’t linger. Rich flavor that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.
3.7 Draught at Bishops Arms Gustav. Pitch black colored with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel and coffee with notes of chocolate and chalk. Roasted flavour of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Roasted finish.
