4.0 Can from Joe's Wine and Liquor, Memphis. Fruity hops with lots of grapefruit, tropical, citrus, orange, pine, tangerine, malt, resin, touh of caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Can't go wrong with unfiltered Sculpin, though it's a little less commanding than the base West Coast classic. Still, the relatively low ratings are perplexing.
3.4 Bottle. A pale amber pour with tons of chunky floaties and a thin beige head. The aroma features lots of grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, caramel, and biscuity grains. Goes down medium-bodied and crisp. Biscuity grains and a touch of caramel upfront taste-wise. Grapefruits and citrus rinds at the grainy end. Dry.
3.8 Bottle. Even though this has some age on it, its still quite good. Tropical fruit, nice bitter bite. Aromatic. Slightly murky orange pour. Yum.
3.6 Amber, slight haze, with moderate bubbly foam. Aroma is big - lots of grapefruit, resin, pine. Taste is hops and bitter from start to finish. Quiet gentle cereal malt. Really sharp an citrusy. Dry. A little distractingly bubbly.
4.0 355ml can. Golden with haze, unfiltered as promised. Billowy white head, very stick, very creamy. Aroma - citrus with tropical fruit and stonefruit. Taste - light malt sweetness, big citrus, resins, pithy, bitter. Long aftertaste. Awesome. Canned April 11.
3.5 Appearance: Bright copper. Slightly hazy. Finger of white foam. Nose: Bright citrus, mango and a touch of apricot. Light malt sweetness Taste: Lemon zest with orange juice. A bit of tropical fruit and apricots. Light honey sweetness Body: lively bubbles, medium to light. Fluid. Parting thoughts: I pretty much love all the scuplin variants, if this is the base, it all makes sense. this beer is great. drinkable. refreshing.
3.8 12 oz bottle. (Ballast Point Home Brew Mart) San Diego, CA. Clear bright golden color with a small white head. Fruity, piney and resiny hoppy aroma with mild bitterness and caramel malty sweetness. The flavor is pretty similar to the normal Sculpin. Maybe a bit more pungent hoppy but that might be based on the freshness of the bottle.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grassy grapefruit hoppy aroma. Fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter finish.
3.6 Bottle, lemon notes, grains, sweet tropical notes, mango, Grass, and a light hop burn. Taste is sweet tropical and light floral
3.8 Bottle, 355ml. A cloudy amber beer with minimal head. Aroma is of citrics, mainly grapefruit, hops and a hint of pine. Strong bitter taste with low sweetness. Medium bodied with some carbonation and astringency. Nice bitter finish. Feel stronger than the regular sculping.
3.7 Bottle, 355ml. Clear amber with light sediment and a frothy offwhite head. Funky grapefruit aromas. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter. More astringent and bitter than the regular Sculpin, slightly less balanced. Very pleasant.
4.6 The Shulkin base beee is one of my all time favorite ipas and this is right there as well. A very clean finish. Excellent ipa.
4.0 Bottle from Hong Kong Brewcraft. Yellow brown, good head. Tropical fruit aroma. Mango lychee flavour. Bitter sweet smooth and well balanced.
3.8 A 12 fl. oz. bottle with a Julian bottled on date of 17321, meaning that it was bottled on 17th November 2017. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a lightly hazy bright copper orange colour with quite a bit of floaties slowly settling at the bottom of the glass. There was also a two finger off white head that had great retention and left nice lacing. Aromas of tropical fruit mango, pineapple and apricot at the start followed closely by grapefruit and light pine. Tastes of sweet-ish pineapple, orange and apricot followed by bitter grapefruit zest, citrus rind, pine and a light touch of biscuit at the end. Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall nice and easy to drink and an interesting twist on the original. However, I definitely prefer the original and grapefruit version over this. Still worth a try though.
4.0 Tap pour at Happy Gnome. Pint glass. Slight haze within a golden orange hued ale. Quarter finger eggshell white head. Great lacing. Citrus nose is assertive. Taste is a pretty impressive combination of citrus and hop bitterness with just enough sweetness to balance things out. Definitely citrus running the show. Solid effort overall.
3.6 Draft - Dank Weedy notes and citrus. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Fruity, dank and a nice bitterness.
3.6 Draft at Miramar for RBWG 2018. Hazy golden yellow. Aroma of earthy hay. Taste is bitter straw
4.7 Smak av citrus, grapefrukt, karamell.
4.8 awesome fruity smell, very dry hopped, but very well balanced. Mild bitterness for an ipa. one of the best ipa on earth!
3.9 Hazy orange pour with a ton of sediment. Orange and grapefruit aroma. Tons of orange flavor, a little grapefruit and passionfruit. It's really just an overwhelmingly citrusy beer. Overwhelmingly in a good way, love this stuff. No difference really with the 'unfiltered', other than a bunch of floaties.
3.9 Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a white head. Unfiltered but but still pretty clean. Nose is tropical fruit. I get mango and pineapple. Medium body. Flavor is biscuit malts with nice tropical fruit and a little citrus. Finishes with pine bitterness and is dry. A very tasty beer. What more can you say. Lot to like here.
3.9 Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A honey golden beer that wears a white head. A little haze and more on the final pour. Aroma is of a west coast IPA with tropical fruit galore. Flavor is also full of that tropical fruit. Pineapples and mangoes. Malts are Pilsner-ish. Just a little harshness which might be from the alcohol. This is not complicated but is delicious.
3.7 5 oz. pour, on tap at HopCat Minneapolis. Consumed on 12-14-17. Clear copper-tinted bronze. Small to moderate amount of beige head. Heavy orange in aroma. Certainly isn't visually evident that it's unfiltered. Dry flavor. Dirt hops. Maltier than I expected, but I appreciate the dryness. Grapefruit. Nice, long, bitter aftertaste that is really the star of the show. Medium to full body. Substantial palate. Frothy. Good not great West Coast IPA. Not notably different from regular Sculpin. 7.3.8.4.15=>3.7
3.8 Hazy golden. Big , white head. Tropical fruits, pine and some malt in aroma . Strong, hoppy bitterness in taste. Notes of tropical fruits.
3.9 Outstanding IPA! Aroma and taste were fruity hops. Unfilterd was a laugh. Almost clear compared to 30+ NE IPAs that I have tried!
3.0 Bottled 355ml (Systembolaget) Amber colour, steady off-white head. Bready pale malty, citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied. Quite malty, citrus, breadyness. Typical Ballast Point flavour profile. Ok.
3.9 Draft pour. Pours a mostly clear golden orange color and topped by a small off white head of foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma is nice showing big notes of orange and grapefruit citrus fruit, resinous pine, and big citrus hop notes over a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with the orange and grapefruit citrus right up front to go with some big resinous pine notes, toasted caramel malts, and a big citrus hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with ample carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet citrus finish with lingering bitterness on the back end. Really nice version of Sculpin here.
4.1 355ml bottle into shaker. Looks like cloudy orange juice with a frothy white head. Laces nicely. Some floaty bits. Nose is caramel and fruity earthy hops, very nice. Full-bodied and super smooth. Finish is earthy and tangy. Alcohol is not noticeable. Brilliant IPA.
3.8 Taste: complex, crisp fruit notes of peach, mango, semi sweet, smooth with some citrus hops. Fresh floral hops and fruit nose. Gold, unfiltered, big foamy head with multiple ring of lattice to lace. Medium body.
3.4 Draught at 3 små rum, Göteborg, on August 24, 2017. Slight hazy golden color, fluffy off-white head with lacing. Tobacco, floral, malty scent. Malty, bitter, tobacco, floral taste. Bitter, dry, grainy aftertaste. Medium full mouthfeel, high bitterness. 7/4/6/4/13=3.4
