Ballast Point Victory at Sea - Coconut

Ballast Point Victory at Sea - Coconut

This Coconut Victory at Sea takes our popular Imperial Porter to another place. We added sweet roasted coconut to our robust porter brewed with Caffe Calabria coffee and vanilla, the perfect complement to this beer’s subtle roasty intensity. A favorite at our annual Victory at Sea Day, but it’s worth enjoying anytime you need to be transported.

3.8 On tap at Vultures Lane. Pours black. Chocolate, coconut, bounty, coffee, cherry, drip coffee, bit of a buttery coconut oil thing at the end. Medium body. Very nice.
4.1 Tap at Artut, Östersund. Gorgeous smell of coconut, like a bounty bar. Lovely colour. Taste is a bit off sweet-bitter-alco.
3.7 Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a lightly translucent dark cola with foamy beige head. Smells good too; toasted coconut-forward followed by notes of chocolate and coffee. Tastes like it smells, but a little too much on the toasted coconut. Some roast on the tongue as well. Mouthfeel is medium full-bodied and fairly bitter and toasty/roasty. Good, but smells significantly better and more balanced than it tastes.
3.2 Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea 10% On tap at CBM Lucua. Cola black with a wisp of a tan head and ruby highlights. Big tropical fruity (papaya) coconut overlays the chocolate of the base beer in the aroma. It smells good but a bit artificial. The taste is similar with an almost perfumey fruity character on an abrasive carbonation. I get peach schnapps as much as coconuts from this. Pretty disappointing to be honest, not a fan as this seems highlight artificial.
4.0 Nearly jet black with a tan head. Rich coconut aroma with a toasted element as well as chocolate. Medium to full body. Great stuff
3.1 Lots of coconut. Overly sweet. Not enough of the base beer as it is blasted away by the coconut.
3.6 Draught @ Ballast Point - Little Italy, San Diego. Pours black with a creamy brown head, lacings. Medium body, average carbonation, sweet and light bitter finish with warming alcohol. 010818
4.0 on tap at the brewery in Daleville, VA; black color; fantastic chocolaty, coffee, coconut, roasted malt aroma; great dry, roasted malt flavor with coffee and coconut notes - coconut is done in moderation and nicely accents the malt without becoming overwhelming; all of the ingredients meld well together; dry, bitter finish

4.0 Yeah boii, Hella coconut in both aroma and flavor. Great looking in a glass
3.5 Fra fat på Bishops Arms Kiruna 24 Jun 18. Svart. Middels høyt mokkafarget skum. Aroma av kokosnøtt & kaffe. Smaken mest kokos. Ettersmak av tørr kaffe. Minner om kokosoljebasert solkrem!
2.6 16.06.2018, tap @ Hndverkslfestivalen: Small fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is sweet, dark sugar, lactose, coconut, dark malts, minerals, caramel, grass, hay, bark, toast. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish mineraly, dark sugar, grass, weeds, minerals, bark, lactose, dark malts, cocoa, burnt toast, medicine, paper, coconut, cardboard. Longlasting harsh bitterness, dry medical mouthfeel. Not really my cup of coffee.
3.7 0,2 litre taster at Håndverksøl festival. Black with beige head. Roasted coconut, spices,

3.7 Bomber from web SB cons 2018-05-11 Göteborg AR: coconut sun oil, rosted malt, dark chocolate AP: dark brown, creamy sand brown lid F: a bit to much Coconut sun oil, roasted malt, dark chocolate, soft carbonated, wee salt
3.1 2 finger dark beige head. Pitch black beer. Aroma is coconut galore with underlying notes of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some dried dark fruits. Taste is burnt coffee, milk chocolate, coconut and burnt sugar. Mouthfeel is semi-thick with a medium, burnt bitterness. Low carbonation. Medium-high sweetness. Doesn't blend that well with everything to be honest. Overall: Only a hint of the fantastic base beer to be found here. The coconut is not dominant in taste, yet it still manages to taste too much in some way, and I even like coconut a lot. Burnt notes are fighting with sweetness and it doesn't come out too pretty. A bit of a mess but it manages to be an OK beer. Base beer is so much better though.
Helt ok!
4.1 Pours dark black with some tan foam, aroma of sugar and light coconut, coffee infused body with a lingering coconut aftertaste, coconut is light enough that it doesn't taste like suntan lotion, very smooth for the abv, a caramel coconut girl scout cookie that was bitter enough to keep the excessive sweet away, tap.
3.4 Bottle at Ulfborg Tasting 20180414. Aroma of heavy roasted coffee, coconut, flowery, light vanilla, roasted malt. Dark brown with tan head. Taste is moderate bitter, light+ sweet, heavy on the roasted coffee, vanilla. Medium body, sweet and roasted malt finish.
3.8 Bottle @ Ulfborg Tasting 20180414. Dark brown body with a small offwhite head. Roasted malt, coconut, floral, showergel-ish.
3.7 Bottle at Ulfborg Tasting. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cacao, vanilla, lot of coconut, floral, herbal. Dusty. Moderate sweet and bitter with lingering roasted notes. Full and sitcky.
3.2 Bottle @Ulfborg Tasting. Very dark brown, light beige aroma. Aroma has coconut and FLOWERS! Bitter coconut flavour. Heavy bitterness, not quite balanced.
3.8 Bottle @ Ulfborg tasting. Pours black with brown tints. Frothy beige head. Aroma is very coconut forward. Smells like a Bounty bar! Chocolate and slight coffee. Taste is roasty, sweet and very bitter in the finish. Not as much coconut in the taste. Medium body and medium carbonation.

3.5 Bottle @ Ulfborg Tasting 20180414. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of vanilla - foral - tic tac, chcoolate, caramel, roast, herbal. Taste is rather sweet, loads roast, coffee, tic tac, light chocolate. Overall foral - vanilla, herbal.
1.4 Bomber from Systembolaget. Pitch black with a nice head. Aroma is some roasted malts, but dominated by a sharp artificial coconutish smell. Taste is some sweet coconut quickly overtaken by an unpleasant sharp bitterness, ending with more unpleasant artificial coconut. I love the base beer, but this tasted nothing like it. I also like other stouts/porters that are criticized for being artificial, so I'm guessing this was a bad bottle.
1.3 Reading all the reviews here, I start to wonder if there was something wrong with my bottle. Aroma sure is roasted malts with a fair share of coconut, nothing fishy going on there. The taste however... A strong, spikey coconut flavor that is so strong that it turns synthetic. Soap is the closest thing I can imagine to describe it with. Straight to the sink.
3.7 Bomber from Albertson's. Black in color with a beige head. Huge coconut and vanilla nose. Somewhat sweet smelling with a little coffee buried behind the coconut and vanilla. Coffee up front. Some booze. A little roasty. More coffee in the taste than in the aroma. Quite flavorful. Very rich. A little alcohol in the finish.
4.2 Pitch black with a thin, beige-brown head that leaves a lot of lacing. Nose: Rostaed coconut, vanilla, coffee, rye, roasted malt and toffee. Taste: Dry, roasted coffee, espresso, roasted malt, coconut, vanilla and bitter, dark chocolate. Mouth: Full body. Light carbonated. Bitter ending. As I'm a lover of coconut I do like this! The nose take me to Florida and coconut sunscreen oil and I like it! i've always wanted to drink that oil...
4.0 The aroma is off the top coconut and sweet. Pallet is smooth with a bit of a bite on the upper back end. This is a nice balanced beer and a sweet finish or beginning to any night.
