Ballast Point Wahoo White

Ballast Point Wahoo White

A fresh, unfiltered brew perfect for lazy summer days. Our Wahoo White is brewed with unfiltered, un-malted wheat and oats that give it a distinctive cloudy complexity. True to the Belgian tradition, this Witbier boasts a refreshing, citrusy flavor thanks to the orange peel and coriander we add to the boil. This makes Wahoo an ideal beer for year-round beach weather.

2.8 Light clove and not a lot else. Malt aroma all jumbled up and clingy like wet t shirts. Light tangy finish. Bottle at Satellite Room.
2.9 Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is bready wheat, peppery yeast, citrus, hay, lemon, with soft spicy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is light to medium. Decent, but fairly ordinary Witbier.
3.1 355 ml bottle. Slightly unclear pale golden body with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat and slightly fruity with a hint of coriander. Flavor is light pale malt, mild fruity and slightly spicy. Medium to light bodied and a bit light aftertaste. Drinkable and to some degree refreshing, but a rather blend version of a wit.
3.4 Given how fun the infused versions of Wahoo are, I was a bit surprised to find that the standard Wit version is a bit plain. Having said that, all the technical details are done almost perfectly. Cloudy yellow body. Yeasty and slightly spicy aroma. Bubblegum, banana, pepper, and citrus flavors. Bright and somewhat creamy body, and if finishes dry and lightly spicy. Good brew for the summertime heat, or you know, winter in SD.
2.5 to me this is the difference between a designer brand white t shirt and a hanes 3 pack. sure the quality is much better, but the hanes give you the same look minus the name value. definitely a well made white t shirt. but a white t shirt non the less.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma of wheat, coriander, pepper, citrus. Taste is light citrus bitter with honey sweetness. Body is light and fresh with average carbonation.
3.3 Can. Slightly hazy yellow pour with a foamy white head. Citrus, wheat, mild coriander - the taste is better than the aroma, which is somewhat muted.
3.1 How : bottle Appearance : cloudy light yellow with a thin white head. Aroma : spice, herbs, floral, oranges, yeast. Palate : light body, average carbonation.
3.3 Bottle to tumbler Consummation: Fruity esters, light citrus, loads of yeast and soap Adjunct: Hazy, sickly yellow with a bright white head; wow...that’s unexpected, this smells like cinnamon with a slight lemon
3.1 Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 15.08.16. Unclear, pale straw colour, white head. Aroma and taste of pale citrus, coriander, green bananas and pilsner malt. Quite dry. Refreshing.
2.6 Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours hazy light golden with almost no head. Aroma of bananas, fruit bubblegum, some sulfur, some oranges. Tastes sweet. Boring.
2.9 Bottle. A hazy yellowish golden beer with a white head. The aroma has a light coriander touch, some orange and a rather generic fruityness. Some wheat hints too. It’s medium bodied and perhaps a bit heavy on the carbonation, semi-dry, yet with a sticky feeling in the end. Rather low on bitterness, with a fruityness running the show. Orange hints, some coriander and peppery yeast, as well as some light piney hints. Lightly metallic in the very end. Well, it drinks easy and doesn’t taste bad in any way, but it’s far from exciting. Not a beer I’ll revisit. 160805

2.2 19.07.2016, 12 oz bottle @ home: Small slightly fizzy-creamy shortlasting head, slightly hazy. Aroma is slightly dry yeasty, minerals, harsh yeast, flowers, sour grass, hay, dough, paper, cereal, weeds. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, yeast, wheat, grass, paper, orange, minerals, cereal, bark, hay. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Meh!
3.5 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, low white head. Strong aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves and coriander. Soft mouthfeel. The wheaty flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of banana, cloves and coriander, also some citrus. Minimal hops. Refreshing and nice to drink.
3.4 On bottle from Gulating ølutsalg , Sandefjord. Hazy golden color, ok foam. Medium aroma intensity; fruity , citrus, floral. Medium body & complexity . Well balanced and enjoyable
2.9 from bottle, poured a cloudy yellow colour with a white head. nose of wheat, citrus, bread, orange, light bitter zest, sweet tropical taste, mango, and slight pineapple, crisp mouthfeel finish. imo it’s not really what a white stand for
3.4 Hazy yellow color with off-white head. Aroma is mostly yeasty with coriander and wheat notes. Taste follows with coriander, quite intense yeast flavors and slightly bitter finish. Light body with medium carbonation. Overall it’s a true to style witbier with a good amount of coriander but a bit too yeasty for my taste.
3.9 Very nice wheatish character, ripe banana, mango, moderate sweetness. Well balanced. Very nice
3.6 Aroma: Kviesiitis un topiskais kviesa raugs, nekass komplekss un ko verts izcelt, ja nu vieniigi mazliet zekje. Garsaa principaa kaa Hoegardens++, labs. Loti vienkars bet varetu but kviesa etalins
3.1 Bottle. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a short white head that left sheets of lace. Aroma of wheat, yeast, lemon and coriander. Flavor of coriander, orange, wheat, lemon zest, yeast, citrus, spices and had a refreshing crisp finish.
2.5 Garrafa 355 ml.
3.0 Pours a cloudy yellow. Aromas of orange and spice. Flavor has too much orange, White beers aren’t high on my list. But this one wasn’t that bad, had a little more of a crisp alcohol bite to it.
3.6 I have been consistently impressed with Ballast Point’s beers. This is a weaker (and lighter) Witbier, but I think it is well-executed for what it is. Mild but exceedingly pleasant flavor. Smooth sip up front and a fizzy carbonation develops mid sip. Fruity, almost lemony, slightly spicy finish. No unpleasant qualities worth speaking of. An easy beer to drink, light and refreshing.
3.1 Pours very pale from a bottle. Nose of coriander, banana, light spice. Taste is very watery, plain, light banana and spice. Not a shitton going on here.
3.4 First witbier. Has orange peel and coriander. Very lite in color (blonde). The taste is definitely orange and coriander as well as the aroma. A small sour flavor. Is refreshing.
3.1 Light yellow, hazy and not much of a head. Lemon and coriander taste along with light yeast. Thin.
3.3 Pours a clear light yellow with a foamy bone colored head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Aroma of wheat, grain, spices, and yeast. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.
