Banks Caribbean Lager / Beer

Banks Caribbean Lager / Beer

Bottle: Filtered

Ingredients: Water, Malted Barley (2-Row British and Australian), Hops (Yakima Clusters and Styrian Goldings), Yeast, Sugar, Corn Syrup

Launched: 1961

Banks Beer, the beer of Barbados, is a premium pilsner style lager with a smooth, fresh aroma and a medium alcohol content. Banks is brewed from a pure classic blend of 2-Row British and Australian malted barleys deliciously flavored by Yakima Clusters and the noble Styrian Goldings aroma hops. It is however Barbados’ water, naturally filtered through limestone rock, along with our own special strain of yeast, which give Banks Beer its unique Bajan character and distinctive quality. Consistently the #1 choice among beer drinkers in Barbados since it was first produced in 1961.

1.7 Golden clear coloured brew from bottle in to the glass. Very light on the bitterness with some mediocre sweetness. Old paper ratings before Ratebeer, so why not rate them in hindsight.
2.9 This is a basic Beer, similar to the likes of Sol or Corona but with a higher level of quality. It’s neutral and inoffensive, really to be drunk straight from the bottle on a hot Summer’s day. Not much more to be said. Read the full review here: https://beerwithus2.wordpress.com/2021/05/03/banks-caribbean-lager/
2.9 Clear and pale gold with a frothy white head and sweet, floral and grassy aroma. Moderately carbonated, with a slightly grainy mouthfeel, and a sweet malt flavour, with hints of honey and a touch bitterness in the finish
2.8 Ladies and gentlemen, this is Captain Tobias Willcock Welcoming you aboard Coconut Airways Flight three-seven-two to Bridgetown, Barbados... Bier uit Barbados 🇧🇧, land #111. Zal daar in de Caraïben prima smaken. Hier ok Lager. Net voldoende.
3.0 Old rating from 2011 - 330ml bottle brought back by a friend. Pours pale straw colour with a small white head. Aromas & tastes of flora, grass, grain & pale malts. Moderate body. Crisp moderate bitter finish.
0.5 Rating copied from Untappd. Bought at Total Wine in Tampa, had on 12 dec 2017
2.6 330ml bottle. Eye - clear gold, moderate bright white head Nose - bready sweet malts, grain, a touch of stewed vegetables. Taste - sweet malts, white bread, grains, brown sugar. Mild bitterness. Palate - light but not watery, moderate carbonation. Overall - no real off notes, tastes ok. Decent for the style.
2.5 Bottle from local B & M shop Not much aroma at all on this one – maybe some malt ? Pours a pale, slightly brown straw with a vigorous but transient white head. Main flavour is sweet malts, but there is also golden syrup, grains, crusty bread, and a hint of chicken roll in there. Finish is slightly peppery. For a macro lager, it’s OK.
1.8 Pours a really clean in colour with a large white head Does really smell of much A nice clean crisp lager nothing really going on a run of the mill lager to drink on a red hot day
3.2 11.2oz bottle thanks to stevoj pours out crisp pale straw topped with a white head. Nose is nice sweet grain some corn notes and honey. Taste is more of the sweet grain honey and grass.
2.9 12oz bottle from HalfTime. Clear golden, small foamy head. Musty, grainy aroma. Taste is also cereal, slightly vegetal. Typical pale lager.
1.9 Butelka. Dość jasny, złoty kolor. Piana biała, średnia, bardzo nietrwała. Co tu dużo mówić.. nie jest to wielkie piwo. Jakiś słód, jakieś ziarno, trawa i karton.. Nawet kukurydza nie przeszkadza.. A może tam nie mają.. Żart. Ot.. Ciekawostka
1.9 How: Bottle. Where: Had at home. Appearance: Yellow colour with a white head. Aroma: Malt, grain. Body: Light body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Malt, grain.
2.6 Bottle. A- Grains, straw. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Grains, straw, mild lemon, subtle pepper. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- Not bad, better than I thought it might be. Hit the spot on a hot day outside. New country tick.
1.7 Golden with a white head - Sweet malt aroma - Malt body with a low bitterness - Malt goes into the finish - This was boring
3.3 Country Tick #108, Golden beer, small head. Aroma is malt, grain, light metal, light oxidated. Taste is the same, smooth, light grainy. not bad.
2.4 Golden colour, mild hops & bitterness, a little watery, okay.
1.6 Clean, crisp, refreshing - especially when consumed beneath a palm tree overhanging a Bajan beach. One to enjoy whilst you're there, but not to bring home.
2.0 Taster from Dantomlinson - cheers! Bubbly white head on a lifeless pale lemon coloured still body. Medicinal aroma. Medium bodied, smooth. Grass, sweet fruit, confectionery, saccharin, cordial & lime tastes.
2.1 Clear Golden appearance. Aroma is malt and grain. Flavour is malt, hops and grain.
1.8 0,3 litre Bottle, shared with Bergstaden. Golden with white head. Malts, sweetness.
3.0 0,275l from bottle at a bar in Barbados. BB 31. May 2020. Yellow clear color, small white head. Smells grainy, earthy, bit peppery. Medium body, soft carbonation. Tastes earthy, grainy, bit citric, bit peppery. Finishes light to medium bitter with notes of earthy, peppery and grainy notes. Debentish 6,4,6,3,11
3.3 12 ounce bottle at Rascals in Barbados. Smells malty..Light yellow in color. Taste light malty and with some grain. Smooth island beer. Would drink again. Light malty aftertaste. Cheers!
1.4 Okay somewhat creamy foam on a clear gold body, vague sweet bread on the nose. Flavour is grain and booze, adjuncts galore, all this in only four point seven percent. Seriously - badly brewed and awful in every respect, harshness like this should be rewarded with a huge alcohol hit of at least ten percent but you don't even get that.
2.7 bottle @ Marino's Beverage Depot / Sylvania OH --- Aroma of crisp malt and light hops. Clear bright medium-dark golden amber color, off-white head that drops to a thick rim, swirls of lace. Taste is semi-sweet malt, strong carbonation, and light hops. Slightly more tasty than all of the "local" lagers found in that area. I'd choose this over a lot of similar brews.
5.0 Great beer. Best beer in Barbados.
1.4 Bottle and tap. Main beer on Barbados. They are every where. Not very good though. Weak and watery.
2.1 Ein Bier, das nicht mal schlecht ist, da es nach nicht viel schmeckt. Es freut mich zwar, dass es Bier von der kleinen Insel-Republik gibt, brauche es aber nicht mehr.
2.0 330ml can from a vendor in Antigua on vacation. Pours a clear gold with a small, fizzy, long lasting, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of grainy malt and corn. Sweet flavour of grainy malt, corn and sugar with a mildly bitter grass finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and soft carbonation. An ok Caribbean lager.
