Barbãr

Barbãr

Bottled conditioned. Keg: Filtered.

In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.

Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.

Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

3.4 Honiggggg
3.5 Copenhagen 25/4 2021. 33 cl small chubby bottle with a swing cap from Beerdealer web-shop. Simplified golden figure with long hair, a shield and some kind of stick on the label. Pours clear light amber with a big white head. Settles as 0,5 cm the layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing. Aroma is fairly intense with a malty, sweet - almost sugary - odor mingling with sweet fruitiness. Brown sugar and sugared plums. Banana and overripe pear. Caramel and alcohol. Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, tingling, lively texture. Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderate sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a notable bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is a bit dry. A quite sweet but potent Barbarian.
3.5 This is a backlog rating from 2007 from a bottle picked up locally, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are sweet honey, spices, citrus, additional fruit, good.
3.4 Bottle 33 cl, poured into a trappist glass. Pours a pale yellow to golden with a small white head and an aroma of sweet malts, honey, citrus, dark sugar, coreandar, banana and dust. The taste is medium sweet with a medium body , a velvety mouthfeel and a short lasting both sweet and slightly bitter finish.
3.9 Lekker apart blond smaakje
4.0 Buena y original cerveza.
3.1 Bright golden color and a white head. Nice blond with a touch of honey. Malty and bready.
3.2 Clear orange golden pour with white head. Malty, wheat bread, sweetness aroma. Taste is kinda bland, softly bitter and sweet. Honey comes through in the aftertaste. Thinnish mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Meh. Edit: gets better when warming up, still no tearjerker though.
4.0 Lekker sterk bier.
3.3 miel. épices. malts.
3.0 330 ml bottle. Amber colour, medium head with average durability, partly lacing, lively carbonation. Nose is very sweet malt, honey, sugar candy. Flavour is pretty sweet, moderate bitter, same taste like in the nose. Well made for sure, but not my liking.
3.2 Fles thuis geprobeerd.
3.5 Sweet malt aroma in a golden pour. Laid back hop malt balance with a hint of bread and honey in the body and a light but lingering bitter finish.
3.7 Clear golden color with small off-white head. Aroma caramel, yeast, fruity notes, honey and some vanilla. Taste is malty sweet with long sweet aftertaste. Flavors of honey, malt, sweet fruity notes and caramel.
2.7 Colore giallo oro, schiuma fine e persistente. Al palato agrumi.
3.6 bottle. Poured clear amber with a thinning white head. Aroma is fruity with banana esters. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, sticky mouthfeel, slightly warm finish. Flavour of roasted barley, toasty with sweet notes possibly from the honey and orange peel. Nicely balanced.
3.2 A bottle at the Cafe Bastille near Taipower MRT. Aroma: very fragrant, tangy yeast. Appearance: semi-opaque amber, no head to speak of. Palate: medium-bodied and oily, fizzy carbonation; quite complex, bitter finish. Taste: medium-bitter, pleasantly sweet. Parma violets, didn't pick up any honey, pretty good nonetheless.
3.7 330ml bottle at De Beiaard, Amsterdam on 31/03/2007. A nice strong amber, with just a note of the honey. Not too sweet. The alcohol offsets it nicely.
3.8 Nice sweet and aromatic smell. Sweet, creamy and full body taste. Quite complex yet harmonious. The honey, bitter oranges and coriander are very nicely balanced and combine very well. Smooth, warming and gentle aftertaste with a subtile sweetness. Truly an excellent beer.
3.4 Helder donkergeel bier met beperkte witte schuimkraag. Licht zoet met lange afdronk
4.2 0,33 bottle. *** Nice buckled bottle of pure fine beer with beautiful white foam. Strong raisins, sweet, cognac, malt, aszús very delicate aroma. On the palate, fortunately, in addition to the sweet notes, you can even feel some hops, but it is predominantly syrupy, sweet, honey-glazed, but very delicious. Perfect carbonation, a little inappropriate off-flavor for me (glucose syrup?) - but very good and highly recommended Belgian beer. Coriander and orange peel did him good.
