2.4Didn’t taste like an amber ale at all. Lacked any hop aroma and flavor. Very light and pale.
2.4I can’t wait to finish off 1 each of this variety pack for ratings and then shove the remaining six beers on to some suckers. Sweet malt aroma. Bland flavor and not that well balanced, but still better then some of their other beers.
2.5Not sure what to make of this beer... it says it’s an Amber ale but I don’t think it comes anywhere close. Muted honey brown color. Soapy smell almost like Comet or Ajax. Flavor is weak, with a bitter nutty aftertaste barely detectable. At least it’s not offensive and drinkable...
1.6This beer sucks. probably the worst example for Amber Ale I’ve ever seen. I had to dump a shot of vodka in here just to stomach it.
2.6Presentation: This is one of six beers from an eighteen pack labeled Beer of America, Historical Collection. The 18 pack also came with a nice book titled, The History of Beer in America. It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. There appears to be no freshness date on the bottle.
Appearance: It has an amber colored body with some visible carbonation. The head on top is light, fluffy and tall. It is off white in color and it is slows to fade, leaving some spotty lacing on the glass as I drink.
Smell: The aroma is full of lemony citrus and leafy hops with sweet candy like sweet malt flavors underneath. Also I am picking up a light mineral like presence.
Taste/Palate: Leafy and mineral hop notes are up first with some smooth buttery, sweet honey and caramel malts in the middle. The finish has moderate hop bitterness and lemony/orange citrus hops as well as more odd mineral notes. It has a solid medium body with lively, almost fizzy carbonation.
Notes: The only thing that comes close the style is the appearance. After that it goes way off the map. It is drinkable but boring and I have noticed that all the beers in this mixed 18 pack are oddly similar to each other. The best part of this 18 pack is the book that came with it.
1.5Bottle poured into a pint glass produced a short lived head that disappeared to nothing (no lace). The brew was nice amber in color.
Not too much in the way of aroma, light sweat malts was all I got as I drank this brew. This is sweat malt tasting brew as well, no hops in it at all. A little sour not dose appear in the end. Good carbonation and light in the mouthfeel department.
This is not one I seek out again It really doesn’t do much for me. It did drink real easy so you could session it but I wouldn’t want to
2.1Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Part of my quick Minhas sampling. I will keep this one short. I was not thrilled. It was alittle thin for my taste but I did detect very mild hop and malt in the aroma and same in taste but with a grassy finish.
2.7Much nicer appearance than I anticipated, deep amber with just the right head. Aromas of fruit with hops. Pleasantly surprised by the taste - while not a great beer very drinkable.
2.5I had this a long time ago, as it’s in my records, but I didn’t take down good tasting notes!
2.7Dark caramel amber orange with a very loose bubbly off white foam that dies completely. Aroma is a fake fruitiness, caramel, toffee, water. Taste is cheap amber maltiness, tinny, metallic, watery, usual suspects of caramel, light apple fruitiness.
2.4Has a sweet smell of malts and toffee, and has the same kind of taste, though it is a bit syrupy. Nothing about this beer really sticks out.
2.112 ounce bottle in pint glass. Clear caramel with flat head. Caramel and cardboard aroma. Sweet caramel fruity flavor with no finish. Medium-light body. I think this is my first "Gold Rush Beer.’ Should that be its own category.
2.1Thanks to Skyview. Clear caramel pour with a finger thick off white head that dissipates quickly. Toffee and carmel malt notes on the nose. Flavor is very dulled and almost flavorless. Not sure how to describe the flavor. As a swirl it around my mouth there is a very tiny sour note and very dull malt but nothing else. This may be the perfect lawnmower beer.
2.2Bottle. Clear orange-amber with fizzy white head that lasts a long time, and lacing. Aroma is like tonic soda, very bland, strange, and devoid of malt character, let alone hops. Soft mouthfeel. Very odd beer. Has little flavor and yet there is nothing actually wrong. Reminds me of gin. Finishes with a gin-like subtly but the lack of malt/hop character makes this beer puzzling.
2.612 oz bottle from a sampler at Publix. Poured a clear dark amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma was caramel. The flavor was malty, with a sweet twang in the finish.
2.6Color of a marzen; deep, burnished copper with a bone white head. Lightly sweet caramel aroma. Smooth malt character with some toasted bread intertwined with residual sweetness. Pungent hop character in flavor sticks in the flavor. Pretty unpleasant. Highly bitter carbonation level
3.0Bottle shared by Larry. Aroma is vegetal, carrot. The palate is steamy, with some squash notes. Mild, veggies, potatoes. Tough carbonation. I thought this was alright.
2.4Poured a clear copper color with a small off-white head. More aged brown apple flesh from old/oxided malt from this company. Light DMS. Light, but fruity, malt flavor.
2.2Goldtwins. Get both butter and dms in here, along with a dry toasty crackery malt hint- oxidation and paper as well. Hint sof ginger, phenols and paper in the flaovr with a light crackery malt note- dry and metallic finish. Blech.
2.3Copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma is slightly weak but has notes of malt and caramel. Taste is of brown sugar and caramel. Mouthfeel is watery as is the taste but there is good carbonation.
3.0Bottle. what an odd beer. Copper color. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor is even sweeter. Almost like cotton candy. Very interesting but certainly not amazing. Hard to even figure out.
2.312oz from Daknole, thanks! Pours orange with a bright white head. Nose is basically dead. Taste has some fruity notes, overall, a eh.
2.1Reddish copper pour with a thin off white head. Slightly sweet malt aroma. Malty sweet taste, a little syrupy. Not very interesting.
1.5Clear red, no head. No taste or aftertaste. Fresh enough but is boring. Lame is the word.
2.9This beer pours a deep coppery color with a finger and a half of off-white foam. The nose is sweet maltiness with a little hops. The taste reminds me of a red ale. It is malty, nutty, but clean tasting. It seems well balanced. Not huge on flavor, but not bad. The carbonation is medium with a medium body.
2.8Pours copper with good sized offwhite head. Faint hops on the nose. The flavor is a bit of hops but overall pretty watery. Not a bad beer but nothing to get excited about.
2.4Bottle... Clear orange lager with golden highlights and a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Decent retention. The reserved aroma is of toffee with some pleasant toasted notes. Also, a note of something I can’t identify... a fruit? fermentation? All beer is fermented, but it isn’t supposed to literally smell like the fermentation process, is it?. Not unpleasant, but certainly odd. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Perfectly balanced, but fairly bland. Sweet toffee equaled by bitter, minerally hops. Crisp, bittersweet finish. It’s not offensive, it’s just not... much. Bottle provided by scubarex!
2.5Pours to a filtered amber body with a mostly lasting tall foamy light beige head. The aroma is corn silage and a light pine hop. The flavor is a watery and slightly metallic corn silage and light bittering hop. Boring metallic palate is so very watery and light.
2.6Bottle share by Blake. Clear amber body with a loose white head. Dry coffee cake aroma, the flavor brings in similar crystal/dry malts with metallic green hop bittering throughout. Not horrible but very "meh".
1.8Corn aroma is apparent right away, ok head disappears quickly. Copper colored. Some malts in the taste and smell. Thin body. Not a good aftertaste.
