3.0 13/20 interesting beer, huge aftertaste like it's been barrel aged, very boozy, with malts, chocolate and coconut. Doesn't quite work somehow.
3.2 Bottle from France 2019-05-30 Göteborg AR: roasted malt, dark chocolate AP: dark brown, no head F: ripe fruity, some alcohol, roasted malt, dark chocolate
4.1 330ml bottle shared with the team at za razBIRAchi. Pours essentially clear but such a dark brown as to be opaque with a fluffy and mousse-like beige head, plenty of lacing but no visible rising carbonation. On the nose, massive sweet coconut, chocolate with coffee and vanilla in the background. In the mouth, flavours similar to the aromas but with more coconut, quite dry, sweet, but with bitterness, alcohol presence, smooth fine carbonation, with a long complex finish. Overall, perhaps a bit heavy on the coconut but still very good.
3.8 Keg at 73 Enid Street, 17/04/19. Black with a decent tan cap that gades to a swirl. Nose is sweet malts, chocolate, vanilla, light dark fruits, toffee. Taste comprises light alcohol, cocoa nibs, booze tunes, candy sugar, coconut shavings, chocolate. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced alcohol. Decent impy.
4.7 Birra eccezionale! Color nero profondo, abbondante e morbida schiuma color nocciola. A naso mille aromi sublimi.
4.0 Botella. Deeeep dark brown almost black colour, big dark brown creamish head, nice. Sweet aroma of well roasted malt and chocolate with coffee, dark fruits, alco notes, more sweetness. Good filling palate. Flavour is sweet with lots of roasted malts indeed along with chocolate and dark fruits, coffee notes, coconut, alco notes, medium but well lasting bitterness. Filling brew indeed.
3.6 Bottle shared @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cappuccino abbondante e persistente. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Un po' sgraziata.
4.1 Tasted this in the Shilling Brewery, Glasgow on the 8th February 2019. Keg dispense, 1/3 pint sampled. Dull black in colour with a pale tan head. Once warmed up malty aroma evident with chocolate drinking powder and creamy treacle fudge on the nose. Thick oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complex gives rich chocolate sponge cake base with molasses, treacle fudge, bournville chocolate, slight hints of black coffee, creamy coconut and liquorice. Very little hop flavour detected in the short bitter aftertaste that fades fast with just a hint of rye grain but barely there. Finish is malty and rich with treacle fudge, molasses, dark drinking chocolate, coconut, liquorice and black coffee present in the mouth. Reminded me of a very strong version of Cairngorm Black Gold? Excellent Imperial Porter.
4.1 On tap @ Taphouse. Dark with tan head. Strong aroma of chocolate with lighter notes of roasted coffee, toasted malt and coconut. Flavor is heavy chocolate and roast, the coconut is light in the background of it all. Nice beer, would like to try it again a bit warmer to see how the flavors come out.
4.1 Bottle from Eltham Wines, Eltham. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, coconut, caramel, raisin. Flavours of bounty bar, coffee, cocoa, smoke. Dry, vinous finish.
3.8 330ml bottle from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours black, with large deep tan topping. Aroma is creamy cocoa with subtle coconut. Taste presents a smooth voluptuous body, thick chocolate, soft bitter roast, distant coffee.. coconut seems to take a backseat to all this, though it is there. Would've liked more, but it's still a pleasantly full bodied stout all the same.
3.9 Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - Black pour with a tan creamy head and lacing. Dark roasted and light sweet malty with opulent chocolate goodness, some coffee roast, touch of burnt brown sugar, smooth silky mouthfeel, full to medium body, notes of coconut into the dark malty finish.
4.1 Bottle. Black with a light brown head. Aromas of chocolate, coconut and roasted malt. Flavours of chocolate, coconut, vanilla and coffee. Could have been too sweet, but isn´t. Very well balanced.
3.8 Keg at Salt Horse. Dark brown. Nose is chocolate, toasted coconut. Tastes cocoa, milk chocolate, coconut, greasy, roast.
1.8 Sampled at the brewery taproom. Pretty good base imperial stout, but the overpowering coconut aroma ruins everything. Sweet and cloying.
3.9 Color negro, opaca. Textura oleosa. Carbonatación baja.
3.9 Tap. Opaque black. Medium brown head with medium retention. Aroma intensity 3.75/5. Coffee, malt and chocolate aroma. Medium to heavy bitter. Foamy thick texture. Full body
3.6 Keg at The Pilcrow, Manchester. Near black. Tan head. Notes of espresso, roasted malt, chocolate. Only a moderate sweetness. Decent.
3.9 330ml bottle. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark cocoa powder, roast malts, coconut. Taste is the same, massive amount of dark cocoa, coconut is there but comparatively subtle, sweet, big warming booze hit, roasty and bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very nice if a little harsh.
3.2 Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is moderate sweet cocoa Power, decent light sweet chocolate with a light harsh bitter finish.
3.9 Bottle from Pezinská pivná pumpa I'm not a huge fan of coconut in a beer, but here I don't mind. It's nice, non-intrusive, and softens the taste. I like it
3.8 From the bottle. Very dark brown with a frothy to creamy beige head that lasts. Aroma of chocolate and coconut—fittingly as both are in here—and black bread. Taste is bittersweet up front, trending bitter at the end with the hops dominating the finish. Body is medium, carbonation is mild. Good.
3.4 On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is moderate sweet cocoa Power, decent light sweet chocolate with a light harsh bitter finish.
3.3 On tap at Cardinal Pub, Stavanger. Black colour, no head at all. Aroma of chocolate, toasted coconut, coffee and black rye bread. Very moderate carbonation. Roasty flavour, medium sweet, notes of coffee, dark chocolate, coconut and molasses.
3.9 Pitch black. Aroma is coconut, dark chocolate, syrup, dried raisins, sweet dried fruit. Vanilla. Taste is sweet dark chocolate with some dried fruit sweetness and plums and some smoke later, also some bitter roast. Quite balanced. A little hint of booze. Soothing. Slow drinker. Very tasty.
4.0 Bottle. Dark brown, low golden brown head. Nice cocoa aroma, coconut, medium full body, creamy mouthfeel. dry grain, cocoa and coconut, bounty on Rye bread, dark chocolate finish with light cognac. Good balance, pleasant to drink.
4.0 Bottle. Almost black color with beige head. Aroma is coconut, cocoa, chocolate, very ryebready at first. Taste is coconut, ryespice, bready, chocolate, a touch molasses. Velvety mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. The rye works really well here, and the coconuts as well. Lovely!
3.8 0.33 bottle. Dark brown head and dark brown color. Chocolate nut aroma. Flavor is toasty, bitter hoppy, rye astringency balanced by the sweetness, only hints of coconut. Highly recommended!
