3.4Dark brown with thick creamy foamy beige head
Aroma is grainy
Flava is roasty grain some smokiness
Feels light with soft fizz
Finishes dry mildly bitter with tangy toasty malt
3.8On tap in Dublin, Ireland. Pitch black with a creamy beige head. Taste is roasted malts with a distinct bitterness. Quite hearty. Good.
5.0BEST IN THE WORLD
3.5tasty, creamy stout, very dark brown color, creamy foam, pleasure to drink
4.3Really creamy and thick from pump in Duke of York . Really nice old man once told me doesn't travel well ( like Guinness only evenmore. Second pint in Oliver Plunkett pub in Cork. Something special
4.6Ottima stout
3.150cl can at home (9 II 2019), as Beamish genuine draught Irish stout. Light brownish, coffee cream coloured head - very solid and frothy, and oh so sticky and long lasting - topping a dark, black liquid with keen red glooming dashes. This is a good looking start, for sure. The nose is a bit vague, with distant metallic notes and some caramel and malt features. Maybe some toffee too. The mouthfeel has a great dryness which come with a roasted maltness and slight sweet hints. The bitterness is quite enjoyable. The body is light, coffee-like even, yet there is a creamy touch in there as well - making this an above average/classic, interesting stout. The smooth tongue is even enhanced with a fiarly low carbonation. At the back, one can spot some liquorice or raisins, some dark chocolate maybe. This is a fine, well portrayed stout.
3.150cl Can @ El Corte Ingles, Seville, Spain.
Black colour with a medium size tan head.
Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate.
Taste roasted malt, sweet, coffee, chocolate, licorice.
Medium body, average carbonation.
3.3Draught nitro at The Slipper, Glasnevin, Dublin, Ireland. Poured an opaque black with a wide mahogany edge tint (deep ruby red under strong light) and 5mm of beige very dense foam that retained very well and laced OK. Carbonation not noticed. Aroma subtly sweet. Taste slightly of roasted coffee and hints of dark chocolate with a slight coffee bitterness. Medium body. Smooth and creamy with slight coffee bitterness on a moderately long finish. East drinking.
3.1Cans. Brown black pour with nitro foam. Faint aroma. Taste is bitter, very roasty, way more roasty than Guinness and much less on the licorice molasses side. Palate is light bodied and creamy. Decent
2.0Not great. The trophy wife/husband of the beer world. People will think you're happily drinking a pint of the black stuff, but you'll actually be deeply unsatisfied wishing you had a proper pint. Spend that extra 50c on the real deal.
4.4Earlier Rating: 8/27/2018 Total Score: 5
3.3black with nitro head. not much aroma cos nitro. taste is nice, medium sweet with chocolate and coffee notes. way better than guinness. actually tastes like stout!!
3.3Very thick, creamy body. Moderately bitter up front backed by a subtle sugary sweetness.
3.8Van 't vat.
3.41 Pint on tap in Killarney. Aroma is light to medium malt. Appearance is solid black with a thick, light brown foam. Taste is bitter and light sweet. Good.
4.0Beautiful Irish stout, something that I came across randomly whilst on a trip to Ireland. Had a brief stop off at a pub in Limerick, and thoroughly enjoyed this along with a massive cigar. Lovely, creamy stuff.
4.0Tried many moons ago. Dark beer . Medium body not too bitter . Excellent Irish Stout
4.4My favourite thing to drink. Best Irish stout in my opinion. Would recommend
4.2The beer looks amazing. It has the perfect Irish stout look. The beer is pitch black on the eye, but a beautiful ruby red glow appears in strong light. The beer is clear. On top of the beer an amazing layer of creamy thick almond coloured soft foam is formed, with amazing foam retention.
The smell of the beer isn’t that strong, but it is nice. I smell some nice, but delicate roasted barley, giving a nice bitter and slightly savoury tone. There are also some sweeter malt tones and some nice liquorice aromas. Hops aren’t really present in the smell.
The taste is good. It is delicate and balanced. There is a lovely bitter tastiness and sweet malts. There isn’t much else, but the maltiness is very good. It doen’t need much else. It has that Irish stout simplicity and perfection. I love the nitrogen like smoothness of the taste.
The palate of the beer is perfect. The body is medium and carbonation is low, but the beer is damn smooth. Perfect. The finish is nice and contains some tontines. Near perfect.
3.2Pours very dark reddish brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is rather similar with malts, chocolate and a hint of liquorice. Finishes with moderately crispy floral notes. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly watery. (500ml can, bb25.08.17)
3.9On tap, pours a dark brown with a thick creamy off-white head, good lacing. Slight aroma of malts and toffee. Malty taste, caramel, slightly sweet, with a smooth finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.1Roasted malts, hints of coffee, pitch black with dark ruby/brown reflections, a very creamy and rocky beige head, taste is similar to the aroma...quite good. perfect in a classic irish pub.
3.9In de Temple bar pub.. Maar ook al van Heineken Ireland.. Ruikt vooral naar de hot chocolate van Suus. Verder weer prima Guinness achtig.
3.7Tasted from the tap several times during my 3 months stay in Cork. Back on these happy days drinking irish beer and partying with irish people. This one was a Must! Next one please!
3.2Black with creamy white head. Roast, milk chocolate and coffee. Smooth, floral, nutty, ashtray and light acidic finish. Overall: good. Is this Guinness?
3.1Pours a black colour. Taste is of roast malts and chocolate. Some liqourice on the palate
3.8Draught at Tom Barry. Almost black with a creamy, off-white head. Roasty malt and coffee aroma. Very smooth. Bitter start with a full, malty finish. Good macro beer.
