Beau's Lug Tread

Beau's Lug Tread

Beau’s flagship offering is Lug Tread Lagered Ale, named after the tire treads of a small tractor, a true symbol of Eastern Ontario. Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug Tread is a tribute to “Kölsch” the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged, or “lagered”, for a lengthy period. This gives it some light ale notes, complemented by a lager-like crispness.

3.2 47,3cl Can @ Beer Republic, Breda, Netherlands. Golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, straw, slightly hoppy and fruity. Taste is malt, sweet, grain, slightly hoppy, fruity and grassy. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.8 Pours a nice hazy golden color with a small head. Aromas of grassy hops, nuts, and sweet malts. Taste is very sweet, with a nice full body and a dry non-bitter finish. Really good, definitely worth trying.
3.2 473ml can. Clear, orangey, pale golden colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Slightly fruity and husky, pale malty aroma, a touch of mirabelle, apricot, protein, a grassy touch. 3.0 Aus der sehr stylischer Traktor-Dose. Optisch sehr helles Gold, in der Nase Getreide, Haferflocken. Im Trunk crispy, getreidig, leicht bitter, erfrischend. Passt.
3.2 473 ml can. Pours pale clear golden color with a large white head. Aroma is stuffy grainy with some hay notes, very faint hops, pale malts. Flavor is grainy, bitter malty with subtle grassy notes, some wort tones, earthy. Fairly true to the style, clean. 3414
3.0 Couleur jaune-dorée, limpide avec un discret petit col blanc. Nez rappelant le miel et le maîs. Gout avec une amertume moyenne, un peu sucré. Sans grande finition. Bonne comme deuxième consommation.
3.1 Draft @ Bar Hop, Toronto. Pours a clear yellow golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy aroma. Fruity malty grainy flavor with weak grassy hints. Has a fruity malty grainy weak grassy finish.
2.7 Sampled on draft this beer poured a yellow gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy. The flavor was tangy and sweetish with floral and perfumey hops. Medium length finish medium body.
2.4 Basically just a plain lager, doesn’t taste of much at all. Probably better than the likes of Coors, but not by much.
3.0 750ml flip top shared by Jeremy. Pale golden pour with small foamy white head. Grainy, corny aroma, sweet. More of the sweet grains in the taste, not quite enough hops for the kolsch finish.
3.0 750ml flip top bottle thanks to Dan. Pours out crisp golden topped with a white head. Nose is grain light corn and some grass. Taste is more of the nice grain sweet malts and wheat.
3.0 On tap at Bar Hop King Street TO. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Oddish dusty yeasty lager aroma. Lager malt in mouth it's OK. Drinkable. Very light hop on finish.
3.3 Can. Pours clear golden. Grainy malts, some honey, hint of citrus. Sweet malts. Maybe tad bit too sweet for my preference, but good beer none the less.
4.2 Really good kolsch style beer. Nice easy drinking session brew. Golden in color, medium carbonation, good cap.Crisp and clean.
3.5 Can from KBL. Malty, German malt nose, lager-like, rich malt, noble hops. Oily and a bit slick, nice malt and very quaffable.
3.5 Can shared by KansaiBeerLvrs. Pours a clear gold with a nice head. Aroma of sweet biscuit malt, honey, a little cardboard or paper waft. Honey malt flavour with a bit of citrus coming through. Medium-bodied with a effervescent feel, lingering sweetness. It was a grower, easy to drink and pleasant, would be good for a few.
3.9 Best and worst at the same time... First off I have to say I absolutely love this beer ON TAP. It has a smooth, easy drinking taste similar to a mainstream lager, but finishes with slight hint of deeper spice notes and bitterness of hops. Branding was eye catching and relate-able. However, I purchased this in a can and it was a completely different experience. The taste was extremely hash and far from the enjoyable, easy drinking experience of the draft version. If you see this on tap I would highly recommend, but steer clear from the cans.
3.5 If I feel like downing a lot of beer I will buy a 4 pack of this and try my luck. It has a tolerable taste. I wouldn’t drink this on the regular but it’s good party beer if you wanna get smashed
3.8 The bones of a Kolsch with some more prominent ale characteristics. Sweet pilsner-like malt, grain, honey and splashes of citrus and field berries. Crisp, clean and balanced
4.3 I was very pleasantly surprised by this, my second kick-at-the-can with Beau's Brewery. Like its predecessor, it was from the Autumn 2017 boxed set (but for some odd reason, Sergeant Stripes Export Stout wasn't listed here), and I really enjoyed it--thus I'm not that upset that it's also included in their Winter 2018 pack lol--I'd rate it a low A.
3.4 Pours a clear straw with a nice, resilient white head. Taste is fruity, sweet, fieldberries, fresh maize. Light, crip herbal hopping, lingering herbal notes. Medium bodied, good carbonation.
3.2 On tap at stone lion. Golden yellow pour. Taste is sweet and grainy. Some floral notes in the aroma. Crisp and refreshing
3.6 Had this one on tap at St Peter’s and Paul’s Festival. Nice setting to drink a good beer, happy to try the ’Ottawa 2017 Official Beer’ which is everywhere in Ottawa. Then opened one at home from Beau’s Summer 4-pack. Not a great beer, but good.
1.7 Too sweet for me. Odd that it is an ale- no? Too light. Colour is fine, (light golden colour) low aromas, again- sweet on the palate. A bit thin. If you like Bud you may like this one.
1.2 Not sure how this qualifies for an ale, let alone a lager (which everyone refers to it as). Light for a lager, even more so for an ale. Way to sweet as well. Beer should be bitter. Reminds me of the big macro breweries.
3.0 Tap at YOW but had many times before. Clear honey pour with minimal white head. Aroma is honey lager slight hoppy crisp. Taste is super crisp at first but opens to malty sweetness. Palate is slightly heavier than expected but good. Straightforward rich but crisp lager. More interesting and pronounced than basic lagers but not that much.
4.2 Its good. Real good. Almost too good. What do these small town brewers put in this stuff that makes you crave it fortnightly? Watch your back Steamwhistle in Toronto, Vankleek coming at ya!!
2.8 600-ml bottle pours crystal-clear yellow with a small soapy head. Minimal lacing. Aroma: lemon, hay, yeast, flowers. Flavor: all the above. A decent lawnmower beer or a transitional beer for a light-beer drinker.
3.0 A little too plain for my liking for a craft beer - almost seems like the Coors of crafts, light drinking but lacking on the flavor you typically expect from Beau’s
