Beavertown Gamma Ray

Beavertown Gamma Ray

Believe it or not, we had never brewed a pale ale when we started. But once our experimental Alpha Series was launched around 6 months in, we went about constructing the Pale of our dreams. We tweaked malts and hops continuously and eventually came to release a brew known as Gamma Ray.

This name came from our Creative Director Nick Dwyer, Who at that time was working on the floor at Duke’s Brew and Que. Nick brought illustrations in every week. It was undeniable, the guy was a force and his imagery resonated deep. We all loved spacemen and lasers – again, simple. So we named the
experimental brew Gamma Ray and Nick drew the design - drawing heavily from “mars attacks” and warren ellis graphic novels. Our baby was born. From its release Gamma was perfection for us and joined the Beaver core range.

The concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

5.0 Großartiges Pale Ale! Für mich der Inbegriff des Frucht-Bitterkeits-Kontrastes...
4.1 Citrus and full tasting hoppy pale ale
3.6 Can. Hoppy aroma and taste, light malty notes, citrua fruit, medium bitter. Medium body, hoppy bitter finish. Easy to drink. Ok.
4.1 Buying this can, at Amstein, St-Légier. Opening and enjoying it at home, Epalinges, after a trip from Paris. Sharing it with my wife and Mariela. The body is brown, orange, clear with a regular carbonation, white foam. A really tasty ipa, refeshing with subtle and powerful resinous note, fresh, aromatic with some pineapple notes and fruity, dry malt, recommended.
2.9 Mango, pine, bit too bitter and dry. At Cuil Cuil, Glasgow.
4.1 Pours gold with white head. Strong pine and malts, grapefruit, toffee/candy, grassy hops. Bitter hop finish. Very smooth mouthfeel, feels full-bodied. Very well-rounded flavour profile
3.7 Clear pale golden color with medium white head. Aroma: grapefruit, pine, hard candy. Taste: hard candy, resin, grapefruit. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, moderate bitterness. Light and easily drinkable.
4.5 Perfection in a glass
Avis: Une bière "old school" bien sympa.
Oxford Pho
3.9 Can somewhere in Troubadour glass, pours orangy / yellow with a bunch of sweet hops, resin, grape, grapefruit, candy... Balanced bitterness and quite slick. Good IPA, cool artwork.
3.8 White weak head. Light amber colour. Aroma is hoppy with fruity (tangerine and citrus) and light caramel notes. Flavor is hoppy too with fruity (tangerine, zest and passion fruit), ending in a moderately bitter, slightly caramelly finish. Light to medium bodied.
3.8 Golden pour, light froth with some retention. Aroma; hoppy and pine aromas. Taste; sweet barley, hoppy and citrus fruit rounded off with a pleasing bitterness on the palette.
3.3 Tap. Golden, almost clear, white foam. Aroma: floral, fruits, citrus, marmalade, light sweetness. Taste: light taste, British malt, a little orange peel marmalade, fruity, light bitterness, a little watery, drinkable.

3.5 Smak.
3.5 4 pack from local Tesco. Another good looking brew, slightly hazy gold with a fine white head...nice lacework. Nice fruity nose. Medium bodied, nice malty notes with lots of fresh hops not too far behind. Good stuff!
3.8 Very nice… not too hoppy…refreshing
3.7 Draught @ SKAAL Sønderborg. Pours hazy amber with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with estery notes and touches of malt and fruit. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of fruit and citrus and touches of malt and yeast. Bitter and grassy aftertaste with estery touches. Well-balanced and easy to drink. A nice one, if a little watery.
3.3 Faint fruit aroma. High bitterness some balancing bready malt.
