Beck's Light

Beck's Light

The best of Germany meets the best of America in this brew. Crisp, refreshing and light, yet distinctly Beck’s in flavor and quality.

0.8 (12oz bottle thanks to travita, he knows how to bring the good ones) pale as water, some bubbles. Nose of horrible skunk, corn and sugar. Taste of ash, water, corn, and old grain with a cola-like carbonation. Nasty. Tastes like someone dropped their cigarette in my beer.
0.6 Bitter, skunky and watery. But it has a cool foily think on the label, which will distract you from the taste.
1.5 Bottle, BB May 2010. Poured bright golden with a short cap of electric white head. The aroma picked up light honey and pale malts with some skunk and faint, but crisp floral hops.. non-offensive, but non-much else. The flavor found light pale malts at the core with a grainy feel around.. bitterness was light.. again there wasn’t much going on. Very light-bodied with prickly, sharp carbonation on the palate.. watery.
0.5 The worst of Germany meets the worst of America in this awful, skunky brew.
2.9 Very clear golden color. Extreemly light but distinctly european flavor. Not bad for a light beer when you choose to go light. Only 64 vcalaories makde it a great beer when your watching your weight
3.0 Clear golden pour, short lived head. Smell is very faint malt sweetness. Taste is extremely watery with a slight bitterness and faint sweetness. Mostly like seltzer water though. Drinkable, refreshing light beer, and not offensive or skunked.
0.9 bottle, ckear golden color with some stray bubbles and slight foam, aroma is very off, flavor is very dry cardboard and lifeless
0.9 Overall Impression: Seriously bad, crappiest German beer I’ve found. It’s like they decided to make the German Bud Light...If that was the goal, well done!
0.6 Drank from a bottle. Very thin and watery tasting. Not a bad flavor. Just no flavor. One to avoid.
1.3 12 oz bottle. This is more of an interesting lite beer than the BMC offerings, but overall its still just a lite beer. Aroma was bland, with only slight earthy and malt notes. The flavor was pure water.
0.5 Half water half becks. Mmmm boy this sure is good. Oh wait a minute. Its awful. Terrible. Horrible.
1.8 12oz bottle. Has all the taste and aroma of the original, just watered down. Not terrible for a light beer option but there are better.
1.2 Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a huge white head. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and skunky. The flavor was tangy, dryish and skunky. The finish was short and skunky. Ick. ANY BREWER WHO CONSENTS TO PUTTING THE BEER IN A GREEN BOTTLE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM EVER BREWING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.8 Tasted 9/15/08. 12oz bottle. Pale golden hue. Trace white head. Mild cereal grainy aromas with a touch of skunk. Light bodied and still skunky. Just out of the fridge, it has a crisp bitter palate to it. Light and poundable. But totally not my thing.
1.8 Eh, not terrible for a designated light beer. Funky aroma with a pinch of something in the flavor that could be described as a pinch of malt. Tastes like someone spilled beer into some sparkling water and bottled it anyway.
0.5 What a choice for my first rating. All I can say is that this beer tasted like carbonated water that was bottled in unrinsed beer bottles.. a hint of beer aroma and flavor, but if you tried hard enough, you could fool yourself into thinking it was seltzer water.
1.5 Light gold pour with a fluffy weird white head. Aroma is grain and skunk. flavor follows the same path. Reminds me of low/no alcohol beers I’ve tried.
1.4 Bottle Pours a yellow pale with little white head. Aroma is barely sweet and a little skunked. Flavor is malty, sweet, grainy, and no real hop or etoh character. bad.
2.0 Sweet cantaloupe nose. Very pale straw "color", minimal head. Club soda flavor with a hint of malt and hops. Very fizzy, thin, finish is abrupt and has no discerning characteristics. Obviously this beer cannot be realistically compared to any other beer, even light beers. Certainly better to have one of these versus a soda pop, or if one would like something a little more interesting than plain water (i.e. yellow club soda with a little alcohol). It is unbelievable that this has only 64 calories, I wonder if this is what a "small beer" was in the old days given to kids? Do not expect much with this, but for what it is...it isn’t that bad.
1.9 3.8???? This beer is light. light on flavor, alcohol, and everything that a beer should be. I thought that Becks would have done better.
0.5 This is horrible. Piss color no taste no smell. Just like every other light macro beer out there. No difference between any of them.
1.5 Marketed on the lack of calories, lacks calories and taste, pours a light gold, decent aroma, thin palate, tastes like Becks with water added
1.6 IDK this a step up from O Douls in my opinion...you gotta drink like 12 to get drunk....girlie man drink if ya ask me
1.1 LIke most lite beers, especially ones that go for the least amount of calories possible, this tastes like fermented water.
1.5 Pours a clear color with a small white head. Not much going on here. Very thin.
1.1 Name: Beck’s Light Date: 06/08/2000 Mode: Bottle Source: Wild Wing Cafe, Marietta light yellow, odorless, slight skunk flavor, no hops Aroma: 2/10; Appearance: 2/10; Flavor: 2/10; Palate: 2/10; Overall: 5/20 Rating: 1.1/5.0 Score: */4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The score was calculated based upon the notes and an old scoring system.
2.4 Bottle. At this point, whats the difference between becks light, premium light, and regular? All are below 4% alcohol. This pale lager is light and sort of refreshing.
2.5 Had this at a bar on jeckyll island the other night. An absolutely bizarre taste to me. Tasted almost like an asian beer to me.
1.0 The major point about this beer that draws people in is that it has fewer calories than any other light beer. However, the lower calories are at the sacrifice of a lot of taste. Simply put it feels much more like bottled water than beer. That being said it is better than other ’refreshing’ macrobrews any day of the week.
