2.2 Bottle - Pours a clear golden with a smallish head. Aroma of sweet malts (corn?). Sweet lager taste. Average macro at best.
1.7 12oz bottle pours a pale golden/orange with a medium off-white head. Musky aromma of lager yeast and sweet malt. Sweet malt and corn. Blah...
1.9 20th May 2015: got to admit I thought I was buying an imported German product, very disappointed when I got the six pack back to my daughters to find it’s an AB brew. Anyway I haven’t even opened the 1st 12oz bottle yet, so here goes, a live tasting. Poured into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip glass it looks fine. Clear, clean, bright and golden, the head a white foam blanket. Let’s have a smell: not a lot going on in my nose, certainly no ’Sapphire Hop’ action, more like a wet cardboard box that had melted frozen sweet corn inside it last week. The taste is both metallic and grainy, the dust from the maltings, canned. Not too my liking at all. Would I have been so critical if it had been an import? I like to think so, but most likely not. I has quenched my thirst but I do not really want anymore of the six pack: hope my son-in-law like it better than me. Otherwise it will be drank with a curry, which might suit it.
3.1 This stuff is pretty good, I reckon. It’s clear orange and unfortunately headless but that is the only real strong negative. It smells lightly herbal w/ a bit of husky grain character. Some light sweetness brings out some floral and lemon tones from the hops. This is maybe slightly on the sweet side for my liking but it’s still reasonably drinkable, esp. for its six percent alcohol. Not gonna lie, I just assumed this beer would be total balls but it’s actually pretty good.
2.2 16 oz can after an afternoon of painting. Looks innocent enough, pale yellow with a decent head. Thin watery mouthfeel, grainy corn and hints of metal. Even for a macro this isn’t that good.
0.5 Awful. ABI has once again managed to ruin a beer. If there was a "0" rating I would use it. This is a dull-witted failure to regain the Becks cache that was perfected over centuries. Hideous. Another fizzy, tasteless "Bud Light" with absolutely no aftertaste good or bad. Neutral, like water.
1.3 Pretty basic lager appearance. Nose is muffled corn syrup. Sweet malt taste. Not impressed.
2.0 So this is a higher end beer? Yeah, right.... Aroma is of rubbing alcohol, it burns the nose...Appearance is okay starting with the bottle. The dark blue, or black bottle attracted me, but the pour, well. It pours a dark yellow. For some reason I expected blue, haha, silly me. But still wasn’t expected that dark of a yellow, it has a decent, thick, foamy head. Leaves a nice lacing as you swirl it....Taste isn’t really much, it’s more roasty than hoppy and it’s a little sweet. It has some maltiness too it that I don’t really care for....Mouthfeel, medium with a slickness to it. It’s not great....Overall, it’s not great, not offensive, but I wouldn’t recommend.
2.5 Thanks to the nearly black bottle this is the first Beck’s I’ve had that wasn’t skunky. It is everything you would expect from a mediocre pilsner. Better than bud but nothing special. It does however have a pleasant fruity aroma. I wouldn’t seek it out but wouldn’t turn one down either.
2.8 12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. The fancy bottle and name don’t disguise the mediocrity of this beer. Don’t be fooled and avoid at all costs.
1.7 It pours a pale gold color with almost no head. It has the aroma of cereal and a little hay. It tastes like a macro pale lager. It has no hop character or any strong flavors to it but it is generally pretty non offensive tasting. I wouldn’t buy this one again.
1.0 Bottle from Food Pantry Waikiki 211214. This is your typical pale lager with a very nasty aroma and and equally nasty flavour.
1.7 Rated on 01-26-2013 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a medium sized white head that mostly diminishes, transparent yellow body, soft carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is grainy malt and light hops. The flavor is grainy malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light bodied. This beer lacks character and has a very weak aroma and flavor. This is a beer that I will not seek out again.
3.2 Pours one finger of head on a clear light straw body. The aroma is clean grains and lemon. The taste is moderate lemon bitterness. Fine enough. The texture is smooth and crisp. Pretty enjoyable.
5.0 The best ... Hands down! Perfect for any Texas heat. I love the color, look, taste & the way it feels washing down my throat. I like the fact there’s no strong "after bite" like with the original, but Beck’s willaalways be #1, \m/
2.2 12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: half finger white head, straw color, clear, no lacing. Aroma: caramel, wheat, light malts, pilsner hops. Palate: light body, average and crisp carbonation, thin to cloying sweet texture. Taste: sweet caramel malt and wheat that lasts. Slightly cloying. Overall, nothing amazing or enjoyable really, but pretty good for an InBev of this style. Actually drinkable.
2.0 Clear yellow color , medium white head. Aroma of malt and hay. Taste is similar. Minimal hoppy bitterness.
1.6 "Eh. Pretty bottle...so dark it looks black. So no skunk like regular Becks which is nice. Other than that, it’s so lightly hopped, u can’t tell between sapphire or any other type of hops. Thin, relatively generic and flavorless, and prickly. For the price of regional micro six packs, definitely a one timer."
2.8 Can. Rich yellow with spongy white head, little hops aroma, crisp malt taste, high carbonation, abrupt finish. Not bad as pale lagers go.
2.7 Transfer from BA review on 2-4-13- Poured from bottle into a pilsner glass Appearance – Pours a golden amber color with a big thick and creamy white head. The head fades slowly to leave a decent level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is mainly of a bready nature mixed with some light hops of a herbal nature. Mixed with these aromas, there is a slightly papery smell with only the lightest hints of any sweetness. Taste – The taste starts out much sweeter and continued to be much sweeter then the nose let on. It began with flavors of bread and corn malt with a strong sweet flavor of corn syrup and some lighter caramel. These flavors were pretty consistent to the end where some light bitter grassy and herbal hop flavors come to the tongue leaving a mainly sweet but very lightly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little on the thicker side for a lager style of 6 % abv with a carbonation level that is a little on the lower side. For all the sweet flavors and light hop it may have been better suited with a higher more exciting carbonation and a tad thinner body. Overall – Tastes very much malt liquor like, but without the kick and at much the higher price (and not available in a 40 or tallboy size as any appropriate malt should be). Stick with the classic malts if you are considering this; this is not really a winner for the price.
1.5 This is not good. I didn't take the time to look but I'm sure the coloring is fake. When I have a "European" (in quotes because the devil aka InBev owns it) lager or pilsner I expect good hop bitterness and flavor. This is bland crap. Horrible.
2.9 Draft... RBSG 2014... Clear yellow lager with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose features spicy and peppery hops with biscuit and steeping malt. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is nicely balanced with equal measures of peppery bitterness, and sweetbread. Crisp, lightly sweet finish.
2.5 Lots of flavor. The label highlights “German hops”, but I’m tasting roasted malts. Too sweet for my taste, not for me.
1.0 well... Pours a clear golden Aroma is metallic and nothing else. Taste is reminiscent of a 40oz of steel reserve. probably better to get that instead
2.4 Bottle from Rite-Aid: Appeared as a crystal clear golden liquid with thin foam head. Carbonation bubbles rise fast and violently. Nose is mild with the same smell of the original Becks recipe with corn/rice adjuncts but there is a slight pinch of hops that add a perfume fragrance. The drink is harsh with a noticeable sting of alcohol and a disappointing taste of sweet corn and rice adjuncts that taste worse than the original Beck’s. The bottle presentation had me believe this would be a dark lager but it’s obvious once poured that it is really just another pale lager style.
0.5 Tastes like someone combined Miller High Life with Colt 45. Absolutely aweful. Horrible piss that i wouldn’t serve to my worst enemies!
2.3 Yet another A-B brew in disguise, which I can live with... if it’s any good. It’s got a yellow body with a very short-lived fizzy head. It has an aroma (not strong) of damp fresh cut grass with some dirt. The taste begins with a grainy sweetness rapidly followed by a dull grassy bitterness. While better than many an A-B offering, I won’t be repeating it.
1.8 Pours a medium golden with a pillowed head. Aromas grainy, lightly grassy, light caramel. Flavors of maize, light caramel, grain and slight grass. Overall the maize ruins it for the other mild flavors. Medium sweetness that emanates from the corn. The sapphire hops come through as grassy.
0.9 I thought I was buying German beer. Turns out I was wrong. This swill is made in St. Louis, MO. Shame on Beck’s for the deception. I will never buy Beck’s again.
3.0 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The label lists the abv at 6%. Appearance: It has a tall soapy head which settles out quickly leaving not much lacing. The beer itself has a clear golden body with some visible carbonation. Smell: There is a white bread like maltiness with light candy like notes in the background. It also has a slight hop presence. Taste / Palate: There is not a lot going on here. It has a light white bready like malt base with a quick hint of sweetness, a slight touch of grainy alcohol and then a clean dry finish with light hop notes.
