3.3 Rich, roasted malt flavor. Hints of fruits and, strangely, chocolate. Taste and aroma lighten as you progress. Keeps a nice creamy head.
2.8 Bottle from Meny (Amager), Copenhagen - Amber pour with off white head. Aroma and taste is sweet and toasty malty, some caramel and toffeish sweetness, light herbal twiggy hoppy nuances, pretty thin mouthfeel. Basic stuff. ---Sent via Beer Buddy for iPhone
2.9 Copenhagen 5/11 2015. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. Happy golfer on the label swinging away. Pours copper brown with small white head which evaporates pretty fast. No Lacing. Aroma is pretty neutral. Some caramel sweetness. A little skunky. Suprisingly strong carbonation and watery texture. Flavor is caramel sweet and well balanced by bitterness. Aftertaste is short and sweetish. Not bad - but not particulary interesting either. Just like golf.
3.0 Bottle. Pours clear amber chestnut with low white head. Aroma is malts, biscuit and caramel. Taste is malty, nutty and abit of bread. Nice, but the palate could have been much better.
3.2 Bottle, 50cl. Pours almost clear amberred colour with a stable, off-white head. Hoppy, floral, fruity aroma. Buttery malty of biscuits flavour with some caramel, fruits and hops. Smooth, nice balanced mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Ends slight woody with grass in semi bitter, dry finish. Quite nicely.
2.5 Inviting great ale with a foam that is quickly vanishing. Easy bubbly carbonation. It has a soft and subtle aromas of flowers and malt, and the taste is also characterized most of malt like the subtle hint of flower. Hop bitterness is modest but present a pleasant balanced shape. The finish is mediocre. I do not think it differs moreover from many other ale. Reminiscent in many ways the usual English ales. This does not mean it’s boring. I could, for instance. well buy it again to a summer night where the menu is on the barbecue.
2.8 How : bottle Appearance : almost clear amber. Aroma : caramel, grass, citrus and berries . Palate : light body, lively carbonation.
3.5 500 ml bottle purchased in St. Andrews and consumed in nearby Largoward. Great looking ale, with an exceptionally clear red-brown body. The head is not large but has durability and leaves streaks of sticky lacing. This is hoppy for style. There’s a suggestion of this in the aroma, but it becomes most apparent from mid-taste on. Good interplay of hops and malts, with the balance seeming to changes from the from to the aftertaste as well as with warming. Medium body with crisp carbonation. O: more stimulating than watching golf.
3.5 Couleur ambrée, très légère mousse. Nez houblonné herbeux avec légères notes de caramel .Gout un peu lactique avec houblon herbeux, caramel doux et bonne amertume. Bon corps. Vraiment pas mal.
2.2 50cl bottle. Small white head. Brown color, a bit hazy. Aroma is wood, caramel, leaves, malt. Taste is sweet with wood.
3.3 Lovely clear copper color with a fine off white head. Ok lacing. Hoppy aroma, with light fruity notes. Moderate caramel, mild bready and hoppy flavor with some fruitiness coming through. [Bottle from Meny Begby in Fredrikstad, Norway]
3.3 Pours pretty amber with lacy white head. Aroma is doughy, yeasty, maybe a little skunky. Mouthfeel is pleasantly refreshing, nice weight with good carbonation. Flavors are doughy, buttery, sweet, with a subtle hop bite on the early finish that makes this a bit more interesting than I anticipated.
2.8 Went to lidl for a cheap bottle of beer and got this. Not much intrest to the flavour and not bitter enough.
2.6 Bottle at home. Pours a clear, dark amber colour with a beige head. Aroma of fudge, leather, wood and some chocolate. The flavour is light with wood and grass, and is a little dry. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. An okay ale, but maybe has a bit careful taste.
3.3 Bottle with Mole and a good example of a Scottish Ale. Malty fruit taste with a good head. Low hopping and a very nice sweet finish.
3.7 Take a bow Belhaven. Fantastic example of a sweet, malty Scottish ale. Subtle herbs, slightly gassy, nice palate and autumnal bliss man. Drink and drink, its brilliant. Moreish and SIMPLE. Lovely feel in the mouth and balanced after taste. Unpretentious! Scottish ale at just about its best. About as untrendy as a walking stick but walking sticks are cool when held by the right person. Shit new label, old untrendy one was best. 500ml £1.25 in lidl! If this was in a wee bottle with a craft poncy label and charged at £2.50 you’d be swooning over it. Great simple beer!
3.0 500 ml bottle, 4,6 % ABV version. Clear amber body with a rather small off-white head. Light aroma mainly from caramel malt. Flavor is mainly caramel malt as well with hint of fruit and low bitterness. Did honestly not find any smoke as described by so many other old ratings. Recipe might have been changed during the last years? Medium body and a bit short in aftertaste. Pretty classic old style British bitter, no faults but too one-dimensional to be able to drink a lot of this.
3.0 Duft av humle, malt og noe eik. Fin kastanjebrun gyllen farge. dekkende skum. Smak av malt, eik og noe honning. Flaske ettiketten sier 4.6%.

2.9 Bottle amber-Orange color, clear, minimal head, white foam, cereal, fruit, herbs, citrus, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, oily feel, slick feel, average carbonation,

3.8 Bottle. Pours clear, yellow, with a good slightly tanned frothy head that holds well. Full bodied, light carbonation, very fine bubbles, lots of lacing. Aroma is malt, biscuits. Taste is grassy, malty bread, fruity. Finish is clean, a bit dry and sweet, crisp finish. A nice malty beer.
2.9 0.5 l bottle from local supermarket. Amber colour with OK head. Smooth taste of ale combined with some hops and strong flavoured malts.
1.8 I remember this being really tasty 20 years ago, tasting it a few days ago, I was very disappointed, bland, tasteless beer.
3.2 Old rating. Bottle 0.33L. Clear, amber body with average, frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting with some lacing. Moderate malty (grains, some caramel) and hoppy (herbal) aroma. Light-to-moderate bitter and sweet flavour, nicely balanced. Light-to-medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.
2.5 4.6 % (Finland) version. Mild smell of malt. Copper colour, white head. Aroma of sugar, malt. Very mild flavour. Medium sweet. Flat carbon, slightly oily texture.
3.7 Scottish ale apparently brewed in honour of St. Andrews, home of golf. Regularly shaped, mousse-like, yellowish white, nicely sticky and perfectly stable head, colour a deep reddish amber, cristal clear. Nutty and caramelly malts in the nose, bit smoky accent, fruit (peach, mango, grapefruit), grassy hops, nutmeg, peat, bitter honey, wheaty accent. Crispy fruitiness with lively carbonation, smooth and thinnish, bit oily mouthfeel, caramel malt base evolving in a strong nuttiness and ending in a peppery hoppy and lightly smoky, long and interesting finish. Very well-balanced, tasty ale.
2.8 Nie urzeklo mnie to piwo. Ale troche wodnisty, rozczarowujacy w porownaniu do innych szkockich piw.
3.0 Bottle, from Sainsburys, Grimsby. Golden brown, thin but lasting white head and moderate condition. Slight fruitiness in the nose with a background of sweet caramel, hints of chocolate and coffee initially in the mouth quickly gaining a fruity edge and a little grainy sweetness, gentle hop bitterness and some sweet burnt toffee notes linger in the finish.
3.0 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a white, medium head. Aroma is sweet, malty and fruity with a hints of hops. Taste is similar: malt, caramel. Medium body and carbonation. Decent beer.
