Bell's Arabicadabra Coffee Milk Stout

Bell's Arabicadabra Coffee Milk Stout

A little brewers' magic transforms locally roasted Arabica beans and a variety of specialty malts into a creamy, intense coffee stout. Enjoy before it disappears. (from label)

Arabicadabra is brewed with a cold coffee extract made at the brewery using a combination of fair trade, organic Nicaraguan coffee beans and Sumatra coffee beans. Lactose is also used for creaminess (those with dairy allergies or sensitivities should take note). It was inspired by Milchkaffe, another specialty Bell's beer.

3.7 KØLF 110119. Black color with a tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt,. Flavor is coffee, roasted malt, lactose, bread. Nice beer.
3.7 Poured from 12 oz. bottle at Lake Anne Coffee House and Wine Bar in Reston, VA. Opaque, near-black with a khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, malt, cream, roasted malt and lactose. Taste is much the same. Full/medium body and medium/low carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. Not particularly complex, but the elements that are there blend together well into a very pleasant brew.
3.3 Bottle. Strong coffee aroma with notes of roasted malt, chocolate and lactose sugar. Pours deep brown with a large mocha brown head that has excellent retention but no lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt and chocolate flavors while having a full body and rich, creamy mouthfeel. Finishes dry, but smooth with a huge amount of coffee and a little bit lactose sugar flavor. Not bad, but the coffee was a bit overwhelming.
2.3 Coffee smell, taste is same...pretty much exclusively coffee....one dimentional...at least it isn't bitter...boring!!
3.4 Medium palate. Coffee in the aroma and the flavor, bit the flavors seem a bit mild.
3.8 Bottle pour into pub glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is virtually opaque black--very dark brown with ruby with light source directly behind--with significant light-colored floaties, light sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width light brown head with fair retention and minimal spotty lacing. Aroma is strong roasted coffee (bordering on ash), milder dark chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is bitter roasted coffee, sweet roasted malt/chocolate and lactose. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, strong aroma and flavor but the coffee is a bit too dominant, overshadowing the base stout and too far to the bitter/burnt side.
4.2 Dark brown with a small tan head. Coffee, roasty malt, chocolate and cream. Medium bodied.
3.6 Bottle. Very dark brown; a tan head fades to a coat. Aroma of coffee - very dark roasted with some light berries and citrus - a little caramel syrup. The coffee's really nice but too much for me. Medium bodied, medium low carbonation. Neither as sweet nor as dominated by coffee as suggested by the aroma. Slight bitterness joins a mild astringency at the end. Nicely balanced.
4.2 Pours opaque coffee with a thick and persistent parchment head. Aroma starts with roast quality coffee, leading into roast malt, semi-sweet chocolate, and subtle woody notes. Flavor delivers quality coffee, roast malt, chocolate, hints of molasses and woody hops. Texture provides firm, smooth body and peppy fizz. Magically drinkable!
3.4 2/2019-$2.42 /12 oz @ FLX BevCtr. Thick and dark pour from bottle. Initial smell had a bit of 90 weight lube? Head is thin but a lovely tan, dispersing quickly. As with any beer adding coffee, this is just wrong, but for all the right reasons. No need to buy another.
4.0 Had on draught at Unos. Rich and dark, with roast coffee right on the nose. Taste was smooth, velvety - like a sweetened cold brew coffee.
3.6 Pours dark brown/black color with tan head. Aromas of coffee and roasted malt. Bitter roasted malt flavor with coffee and a hint of lactose sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation.
2.2 $2 bottle at market district. Pours big and black with a darker tan head. Smell is strong cold coffee. Taste is strong cold coffee with perhaps, a little alky added. What else can be said? It has a coffee finish? Obvious to the most casual of observers. Like so many other stronger black coffee beers. What -ehv vah. Not impressed.
3.6 On tap at Hops & Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, light bakers cocoa and light earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt and earthiness with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish.
3.7 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with small light brown head. Aroma is coffee, medium body, medium/lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is coffee and chocolate.
3.7 Aroma is very strongly dominated by roasted coffee; just a touch of chocolate; some vanilla. Taste is slightly dry and fairly bitter. Palate is a little creamy with slightly lively carbonation. Not bad but a bit too coffee dominated for my taste.
3.8 12 oz bottle, pours black opaque. Medium bodied. Coffee aroma, smooth creamy coffee taste with malty finish.
3.4 12 oz bottle served in a shaker- poured a dark as the motor oil in my car when it’s due for its 5k oil change, razor thin brown ring about the vessel for a head, light lacing. Aroma of coffee and creamer- hmmm. Hits the mouth with a very wide body, malt is on the verge of being burnt but was saved, a wave of cream in the middle, finish lingers on the tongue and just refuses to go away- even with a soda wash. I liked it.
4.0 DATE: December 29, 2018... OCCASION: rummaging through the shelves to sift memories and mementos from long-held trash... GLASSWARE: Orioles mug... pours a dark black body with a half-fingered, creamy brown head... this rings with coffee bean, gritty and pervasive...its chocolate is secondary, with lactic sweetness, and some peat also... its middle-of-the-road ABV lends itself to a drinkable, effervescent, smooth and substantial--its finish holds strong, and its creaminess balances well with its soda-like consistency... this has a strong coffee backbone, textured with vanilla and peat, mingled with hints of cocoa... this wins with its balance and flavor, big enough to arrange itself among the better coffee stouts I have had... this one isn't as sweet as some others, but it maintains a morning mouthfeel and a bold, roasted profile...
3.5 Ar: Pronounced coffee; roast, earth, and char. Ap: Black and opaque; small mocha head with moderate-low retention, settling into a sudsy ring and very thin covering of foam. T: Big coffee flavor; toasted malt and acidic char; very little sweetness; bitterness is medium-low; acid and a little malt toast; finish is lean chocolate cake, fudge, and espresso. P: Medium-light body with high carbonation; dry finish. O: Really great flavors here, especially the coffee; the body might be enhanced with a little more sweetness to counteract the coffee acid; still, a really nice coffee stout.
3.2 Draught. Pours black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is coffee, cream, and a touch of caramel. Taste is coffee, light fruit, some roast, and a little grainiess. Light-medium body. Medium carbonation.
4.0 Tap at Buster’s. Dark dense looking pour. Coffee and lactose. Smooth palate. Would love to write more but RB was down for damn near 4 hours and I’m rating a bit from memory.
4.0 Delicately smooth meets coffee flavor blast! Pours a lovely black w/ a mocha head & good lacing. The aroma is light roast coffee. The flavor is cold brew coffee w/ a creaminess that makes one desire more & more. It’s extremely drinkable & at only 5%, could easily drink a few of these. Wonderful!
4.0 Not bad, would buy again
3.6 Really tasty coffee milk porter that was balanced roasted coffee and milk chocolate. Sweet and smooth
3.9 I went on the basis of the Bell's Brewery name. Complex coffee nose. Classic stout appearance. Smooth, creamy milk stout mouthfeel accompanied by coffee overtones. Damn good stout. Cheers!
3.7 Quite good. Strong and really good in features. Nice coffee aroma and looks. Ppured in 12 Oz. sniffer.
3.4 Black with a big brown head. Aroma of roasted coffee. Tastes of coffee with a milky texture. Ok.
3.4 Sampled from a friends glass at Jay's. Pours a viscous black brown color with plenty of lace and a medium head. Notes are cheap or burnt coffee, nuts, dark fruit, milk, and caramel molasses. Finishes malty and layered but didn't like the coffee profile.
4.3 This is a well done coffee stout. Its creamy and incredible for the abv. Probably one of the best sweet stouts I have had for the abv... you would think this is 7 percent. Nose is coffee. No bitternees. smooth carmel and coffee really imprssive. I think this could be a go to if available locally. Thin lasting head.
