3.6Bottle. Pours opaque black, small brown quickly diminishing head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet, cherry chocolates, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor is fully sweet, light bitter, loads of cherry, some tartness, due to cherry or otherwise. Lightish body.
3.6Pours jet black with a thin mocha head. Aroma of cherries and chocolate. Taste is bourbon, cherries, chocolate and brown sugar. Sweet, great dessert beer.
4.1Wow. This is so good. Aromas are mostly barrel forward. Vanilla, bourbon, and coconut. A bit of cherry as it warms. Sour cherry flavors, roasty malt and dark chocolate. Notes of coconut and vanilla too. This is barrel aged beer done right. Perfectly balanced.
4.2On tap at 2014 GTMW, I don’t get it, they were pouring this and Barrel Expedition and nobody was around, I mean nobody, had several pours each with zero line, awesome, pours black with a thin brown head and some spotty lacing in the glass, the aroma has quite a bit of cherry at first with the bourbon and oak coming through, the flavor has a nice amount of chocolate and cherry at first with a bourbon and oaky finish, smooth mouthfeel, good stuff.
4.3Bottle. Color is black with nice rust head. Cherry and wood aroma. Taste is chocolate and tart cherry thick and sweet. Barrel comes on finish
3.6Bottle - Barrel and cherry with malts. Deep jet black with a nice brown head. Wood, cherry and very dry. Boozy, cherry and wood. Oddly medicinal.
3.6Enjoyed at the 2014 Firestone Walker Invitational. Forceful cherry tanginess with a delicate bourbon touch. Very thin and watery, however.
4.0Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is wood, booze, vanilla, cherry skin. Thin mouthfeel with syrupy cherry, dark chocolate, wood, light boozy finish. Very good.
4.2Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a rich burnt umber color with a finger of tight bubbled khaki foam. Nose is a bit hot of the bat but settles into a chocolate cake, bourbon soaked cherry pie combination. The palate is smooth and lush. Big roasted cocoa, coconut, sweet cherry pie filling, bourbon heat. Really delicious and well balanced flavors !
4.1750ml bottle pours dark rich brown with a medium tan head. Nose is dark fruity bourbon, berry, some light oak, roasty rich bitter cocoa. Taste is medium body, fruity bourbon spice cherry cola and rich dusty baker’s chocolate, dark cocoa cake, soft barrel wood. Finish is creamy chocolate truffle cake with layered boozy berry bourbon spice and roasty cocoa. Delicious!
4.5Enjoyed at FWIBF 2014,,, Dark black with tan head... Thick mouthfeel... Aroma of cherries, dark malts, vanilla... Chocolate, cherry, vanilla, roasted malts.... Amazing
3.8Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Huge thanks. Poured a dark mahogany with a thin dark tan head. The aroma is rich red berry fruit boozy alcohol, chewy yeast. The flavour is medium sweet with a light crisp acid cherry palate. Light bodied with average carbonation and a bubbly frothy mouthfeel. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Thin tan head. Clear black pour. Cherry tartness. A lovely bourbon barrel aged stout.
4.0Bottle purchased at Bell’s and shared at Muckfest V on 7/11/14. Darkest brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of Mon Cheri candies; lots of cherry, booze and chocolate. Flavor is malty and chocolatey with some smoke before a tart cherry finish.

3.7Bottle share at Tribes Alehouse. Bottle from 2007. Pour is black with almost no head. Aroma and flavor of chocolate covered cherries, bourbon, vanilla, and wood chips. Finish is mildly sweet with the bourbon coming through more.
4.1Bottle - pours dark brown with a light tan head. Nice cherry notes in the nose with some chocolate, oak, and bourbon. The taste is balanced between cherry and chocolate. It warms up nicely.
3.4Pours black like oil with tan head. Sour cherries on the nose; follows onto the palate. Fairly one dimensional.
3.4750ml bottle I traded FFF Rue D Floyd for. Lost that trade. Poured black with thinning dark tan head. Decent cherry in the aroma backed by bourbon heat. Med light carb med bod. Charred light cherry taste with ok bourbon. Not that good.
3.9Bottle poured at FWIBF. Pours a deep brown to black with tan/brown head. Aroma of coffee and cherry liquor. Taste is vanilla, oak, cherry candy and some maple syrup. Much thicker than the ABV.
3.9Sweet. A bit of bourbon remains years later, but the cherry component is still prominent. Has aged pretty nicely, but not to the level of Expedition or Black Note.
4.42012 batch on tap. Pours dense black with red in the thin parts and tan fizz. The aroma is sweet cherry and toasted malts with a strong hinting of oak. The flavor is rich stout with a mild cherry that is balancing tart and sweet with moderate barrel, more oak than bourbon. Mostly dry finish that aids the cherry tart but still would like it to be more tart. Lightly wine like finish, gets progressively better with warmth, very good beer.
4.1On tap at the Michigan Summer Beer Fest. First one of the day. A heavy deep cherry note. Really creamy. A solid beer.
4.1Tap: Nearly black with only a very thin outline of ruby and dark brown. Espresso colored head shows excellent staying power and clings to the glass nicely. Aroma is rich, sweet cherry juice meets bourbon-soaked oak chips. Lots of cherry, bourbon, roasted malt, mild vanilla. Sweet, faintly tart, a little syrupy, and very decadent. The taste includes plenty of sweet cherry juice over a background of warming bourbon, oak, and light tannins. Some prunes come alongside the cherries with a very light tartness. Vanilla, oak, dark cocoa, and some molasses come to play as well. Never gets too sweet, too tart, or too hot. Good barrel and fruit meshing with the stout flavors... Awesome brew.
4.0Sampled at 2013 MBG Summer Festival. Very nice cherry and roasted malt aroma with some light oak and bourbon. Taste has a nice light sweetness with a light tartness in the finish. Barrel is stronger in the taste than the aroma, lots of oak and vanilla but the bourbon remains light and smooth. Cherries and roasted malt balances pretty well with the bourbon. Smooth beer and very easy to drink.
2014 bottle thanks to rayl101 for sharing. Not much to add to my original rate. Not complex at all but tasty. Cherries, roast, and bourbon.
3.8Bottle. Thanks to foppa87 for sharing. Pours a black color with tan head. Light roasty, bourbon, cherry aromas. Light syrupy cherry, some roasty, vanilla, and bourbon flavors.
3.7Bottle in KC @ JetsonFest III. Thanks foppa78! Batch 7777, November 2008 bottle date. Pours a deep brown appearance with a thin brown head. Somewhat spicy, tart but sweet black pie cherry, caramel, light cinnamon, mild whiskey aroma. Tart, cherry puree, dark chocolate, caramel/vanilla whiskey flavor. Slightly tart. Pretty tasty.
4.0On tap at jk odonnells for bells tap take over. Pours dark black with a tan/reddish head. Srong bourbon aroma. Cherry vanilla oak and bourbon taste.
4.1Backlog rating 1-23-2009 (Bottle at Fort Wayne Gathering) This beer pours a small light brown head that had poor retention, very little lacing, opaque body, and a black-brown hue. The Aroma is cherries, bourbon, chocolate, and earthy. The Flavors consist of cherries, chocolate, vanilla, oak, boozy, and bourbon. The Mouthfeel is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer is very quaffable, the flavors are nicely balanced and definitely worth trying. I would drink this beer again and it is a beer I recommend.
