3.8 12fl oz bottle @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. 27-08-2017. BBD: not seen. Pours hazy dark copper. Malty, licorice, caramel, raisins, dried fruits nose. Malt forward. Sweet, alcohol well integrated, stil noticeable, robust. Ok.
3.6 12oz bottle. Pours clear amber brown with reddish highlights. Small off shits head that quickly disappears to nothing. Aromas of sweet malt, dried fruit, nuts. Flavors of malt, raisins, figs. Very smooth, malty, syrupy finish, with alcohol notes at the end.
3.7 Clear, deep red colored, medium beige creamy head, lasting. Aroma is of malt, caramel, toffee, molasses, dried fruit, quite sweet, wiff of alcohol. Taste is medium to very sweet malt, caramel, toffee, molasses, dried fruits, light nuts, some herbal hops, medium bitterness, bittersweet finish, some alcohol with some warmth. Full- bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. (bottle, )
3.6 Pours up a reddish brown with a quickly disappearing off white head. Aroma is caramel, a bit of rusty metal and raisin. Taste is dark dried fruit, raisins, bit of caramel and nuts. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Thick and chewy. Boozy for sure, really creeps up on you.
3.5 Bottle from Mikkeller web shop cons 2017-05-23 Göteborg , gusher AR: burnt caramel, red fruity, sugar cake AP: dark ruby, deminishing to no head F: rich carbonation, caramel, diver cake, white sugar
3.0 Pours a ruby red with light white head. A faint caramel, candied and fruit malt aroma. A caramel malt taste that’s a little smoky. A smoky and malty aftertaste.
2.9 Sitting at the bar on a throne of good fortune at The Gingerman in NYC, I though "yes! I shall have the bells!" I don't detect much aroma but the beer is adequate, it almost tastes of Carmel at first sip. Just found out there is a whiskey version and now my biggest regret as I sit on my bar throne is not getting that instead.
4.0 BOD 2/01/17 Pours a clear dark amber with a heavy dose of garnet. Normal head volume, normal retention for the style, slightly sub-par lacing. Very good nose but it is a bit subdued. It is slightly nutty, hints of bready malt and an extremely subtle hint of lightly charred wood. Deep underneath are subtle hints of molasses with a whiff of caramel. The complexity is there but you have to look for it. Rich full body that is deliciously creamy with a very smooth slick texture. World class carbonation / body balance. The effervescence is perfectly constructed to allow the flavors to pop yet not distract from the complexity. The middle is vibrant and the finish prickly. One of the most perfect balances I have ever had the pleasure to consume. The flavor profile is quite outstanding and delivers where the nose fell a bit short. The base is a rich molasses and caramel background that is just sweet enough to take center stage in the middle while allowing the other complex flavors their time in the spotlight. Bitterness is subtle yet just enough for contrast, especially from the middle on. Unlike the nose, the base malt flavor is more biscuit than bready. Complexity is world class as was the balance. In addition to nuts detected in the nose, light prune, light dates, leather and tobacco are evident. The finish is a slow fade that is prune like with a touch of uncovered alcohol.
4.3 Nebraska decided to give Winter a second change recently, so it seemed like a good time to enjoy a Doppelbock. Consecrator is about everything you could want in a German-style malt bomb. Mahogany color with a somewhat rocky head (my bottle was also a gusher which is probably my own damn fault). Nose has malty and fruity sweetness. Caramel, molasses, and dried apricot flavors. Full-bodied and warm. Hop bitterness is almost nonexistent. This drinks very easily for 8%. It tastes like something that could have come from Germany instead of the Midwest.
2.8 Minimal head. Alcohol taste is very evident, though not overwhelming. Still a little much for me. I found myself anxious for my mug to be empty so I didn’t have to drink it anymore. Felt obliged to finish it considering how much I paid for the bottle. Troegenator hides ABV much better and overall is superior to this.
3.8 Clear , copper color. Thin , yellowish head. Aroma of molasses, dried fruits and caramel. Sweet taste with gentle touch of European hops.
3.5 Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Clear, sparkling, dark red-copper with a thin off-white head and fair to good lacing. Aroma of caramel, toast, figs, nuts, plums and raisins. Taste of toast, caramel, nuts, plums, dried fruit and burnt sugar. Full/medium body and medium/low carbonation.
3.6 A nice bock. Great example of the style. Pours a brownish red. Aromas of bread, sweet malts. Tastes like it smells. Toasty and tasty.
3.6 6 oz draft pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of caramel, molasses and some earthy notes. Taste is caramel, nutty and sweet.
3.8 12 ounce bottle. Copper colored pour with a large rocky beige head. Aroma is toasted caramel malt with notes of apple pie. Flavor is sweet toasted malt upfront. Obvious caramel and baked apple notes. Smooth and flavorful, with boozy notes in middle. Buttery malty finish is rich and satisfying. Quite faithful to the German Dppelbock style.
4.5 This is an extremely good beer. The sweet and caramel malts blend well to make an extremely good beer.
3.4 Bottle from Liquor Barn. Caramel and roasted malts with a little bit of hop aroma.
3.8 Draft at Growler - pours a red-copper, ivory head. Malty blast on the nose, caramel, wood, molasses, holiday spice. Similar on the tongue with a smooth mellow feel. Nutty, but not too nutty like one often sees with the style, leather, caramel, tootsie rolls, clove. Good.
2.8 Avermelhada quase vinho, leve turbidez, espuma marrom avermelhada de media formação e pouca persistência. Aroma bastante adocicado, chiclete de tutti fruti, morango e leve passas. Paladar de médio dulçor caramelado sem amargor. Corpo leve e baixa carbonatação. Final tende a um gosto maltado aparentemente artificial, novamente tutti fruti. Bem longe de doupplebock alemãs como Weihenstephaner e Ayinger.
3.0 Malty copper aroma similar to a penny. Nice amber color with no head. The taste is also like a penny with a slight trace of hops. Light palate. The ABV is very well hidden, other than that this is a very average beer.
3.6 Orangish reddish brown. Aroma is mild- nutty chocolate mineral, sweet caramel with a bit of toastyness, citrus. TAste is caramel, mineral, soft, sharp malts, light chocolate, malty, black peppery molasis, some spices like cardamom and other winterspices. Nice dopplebock- not a favorate style but nice to have on occasion.
3.0 Bottle. A- Caramel, prunes, raisins, subtle booze. A- Garnet red color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Dark fruits, caramel, mild leather, raisins, slightly malty. P- Medium body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Pretty fair. Some nice dark fruit notes and plenty of caramel. Not overly complex or full of flavor but easy enough to drink.
Gęsta tekstura i nieograniczona pijalność. Niezwykle smaczny Doppelbock.
3.6 Backlog, Bottle shared with Ray, Pours a amber brown color with 2 finger sized head.Smell has lots of molasses, fig, sweet malt, and wood in this medium to fuller bodied doppelbock. Flavor was the same. Pretty good
3.9 Botella @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo 29/10/2016 Color ambar, sabor caramelo, malta, cuerpo medio, rica.
3.4 330ml bottle - thanks Martjoobolut! Old aged malty aroma. Sweet malty body, nice almondy hints, Kinda deadish in the mouth. Covers the alcohol too, bonus point. A kinda understated bock, not wowing me with the wowy aspects a bock can have. Nice dark caramellyaspects in finish make me go "ai!" when anna tries to steal my glass - apparently I’m more attached to this than I thought.
3.4 330ml bottle (thanks Mart). Clear brown color. Tiny size, off-white head, disappears. Sweet, raisins, plums and caramel in aroma. Sweet, caramel, hop tea, roast in taste. Sweet, caramel and malts and tingly hops in aftertaste. Soft plus carbonation. Nice tingly hops in aftertaste. Way too sweet for me.
3.8 Bottle (from mikkeller webshop). Pours dark reddish amber. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel. Flavor is sweet, bitter, caramel, malt. Finish is caramel and dry bitter. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: very good.
2.8 18.09.2016, 12 oz bottle @ home: Nice fizzy-creamy longlasting head. Aroma is kind of grainy, minerals, weeds, dried grain, wet cardboard, alcohol, cereal, paper, sawdust. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, caramel malts, grass, alcohol, raisins, "knekk", bark, licorice, candi sugar. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mineraly mouthfeel. Nice flavors, not so nice aroma...
